Bitters have been the common drink in English pubs for decades. Mill St ESB uses only traditional ingredients, Marris Otter malt and Fuggles and East Kent Goldings hops, all imported from England. With light malt and hops in the nose, this copper coloured ale gives rise to a malty body with hints of chocolate and black currants. The hoppiness is always present but never out of balance in this style.

Had a pint of the dry-hopped, cask conditioned version of this beer at the Mill Street Brewpub, while a friend sampled the tapped version. They were significantly different - I liked mine better, he liked his. What can you do?
Anyway, poured into a glass mug, deep chocolate brown with an off-white fluffy head. Not the best glass for viewing a beer. Mild, tangy aroma - hops stand out. Flavour is quite dry, decently balanced with preference on the hops side. No "wow" factor, but very drinkable. Mild smoky notes as it warms up a little (although it was near room temperature to begin with, out of the cask).
Not bad.

On tap @ the Mill St., Toronto Pearson airport.
Clear copper with great head retention
The smell is faint - but there's biscuity malt and some earthy, mild English hops
Taste is classic ESB: mild earthy hops and a slightly nut-bread malt profile
Finishes dry, slow to aftertaste
Really nice, great companion on a layover to Vancouver
