A solid all around brewpub. The regular selections are quite good and they often have barrel-aged, casked and handpulled selections. It seems in recent years the seasonals have improved and new tappings occur more frequently. The food is above average for your typical brewpub and though service is hit or miss when sitting at a table, the bar staff is friendly, attentive and have excellent rapport with the regulars.

Week nights are generally the best time to go. They have a full bar as well which attracts a variable crowd from either your local hipsters to the late 20s early 30s customer service reps from one of the many companies which employ those entering the finance or insurance industries. Regardless the atmosphere is usually enjoyable.

I went here on a Tuesday night for dinner. I arrived about 5:30pm so the place was littered with professionals ranging in age from 25 to 75. A decent crowd. The place was pretty big, void of any real atmosphere. Vacuous, kind of cookie cutter with a hint of English placidity. The bar was right in front of me when I walked in so I bellied up.

The servers were quite attentive and did a nice job. I wasnt in the mood to quiz them or test them but I overheard one of the teners explaining the beers and she sounded like she knew what she was talking about. I had an IPA and an imperial pilsner. The IPA was better and not a bad beer.

My food choice was a chicken cobb salad. The salad was good but the chicken was some kind of shredded chicken or something that had a weird consistency. It was definitely precooked but I am not sure how long ago. I prefer fresh cooked, warm chicken to cold, pre cooked, sliced chicken.

Prices were reasonable. I left without going over $20. Happy hour offers $1 off house beers and $2 off wines. I would return but get something else to eat. About 6 standard beers and two seasonal offerings, the Impy Pils and a Doppelbock.

Atmosphere - As you walk in the bar area is to your left with the dining area to the right with an open kitchen along the back wall. On the backside of the bar is a small game room with two pool tables which I haven't seen at any other brewpub. For a corporate brewpub it has a pretty decent feel to it corporate but doing its own thing.

Quality/Selection - They had eight house beers on tap plus an espresso stout on cask. The taps were also a decent range of styles from a light lager to a stout and three bigger beers for the beer geeks a Saison, Belgian Pale, and a DIPA. Overall a good selection of house beers making it easy for everyone to have a style they'll like.

Service - I sat at the bar during my visit and the bartender was on her game. She got my beer to me quickly and knew a decent bit about the beers on tap. When not busy she would chat with different people at the bar which is always nice and doesn't happen enough anymore.

Food - During my visit I ordered a pizza that was a decent size and tasted very good. The food that others were getting looked good too and they all seemed happy.

Overall this is a good place to go to and have a few beers and get a good meal.

This is a big brewpub near a shopping district and movie theater. The building is large and looks like many chain establishments but is very clean and spacious. I stopped by with a buddy to do one of their samplers. The waitress was very nice and attentive and did her best to explain the flight to us. While her descriptions of the beers seemed rehearsed or coached, they were accurate and well said. She used nice descriptors and added a little history behind the beers. The beers were o.k, with the maibock and cask I.P.A standing out. I would drink either one if I was stuck in the area. I was here around noon and there was a group of older gentlemen at the bar who all seemed to know each other but arrived at different times. They all drank the light lager and seemed to love it. The appeared to have a great time and really like the place which is a testament to the establishment. Thats what beer bars are all about IMO.

We stopped by for a laugh (we were in a pretentious mood) but ended up having fun and really digging the cask IPA. I have never been to a chain brewpub before and always turned my nose up at them, but 7 bridges showed me that they can be fun and that they play an intricate role in beer advocacy. The old guys were drinking the house light lager and therefore drinking craft beer which I thought was cool.

Edit: I forget to mention the sweet magnolia brown ale. It was super tasty!

Seven Bridges Grille and Brewery, part of the Gordon Birsch group, is a large stand alone brewpub near the trendy suburban shopping area just outside Jacksonville. The main door opens on the hostess stand and the restaurant portion that has perhaps 50 tables and booths. To the left the large bar area also has some booths and tables and about 50 seats around the bar and by the perimeter shelves. The four year round beers are dictated by the larger corporation, but the two seasonals and the hand pull are unique to this restaurant. All the beers were tasty and seemed true to style. The brewing operation is visible on the upper balcony. The barmaid said the manager would be glad to give me a tour, but because of time constraints, I had to refuse. The food looked good and the portions were large, but seemed quite pricey.

I would recommend using Map Quest to get directions here. It's off the beaten path to be sure.

The entry was through a short vestibule with the m.d.s. to the left and a cabinet for both wine storage and logo items to the right. The rectangular bar was off to the left of the m.d.s., surrounded by high tables and chairs between the m.d.s. and the bar. To the left of the bar were three green-felt topped billiards tables. Also in the bar area was a doorway leading to an outdoor patio area. A line of stools and a shelf ran along the left wall past the bar. The kitchen was extensive and ran the length of the back wall. The right side of the m.d.s. was their restaurant area. Brewhouse on second floor visible behind glass. Also to the extreme left were the SVs and a rack of wood barrels.

Big news: this is part of the Gordon Biersch chain! No wonder it felt so familiar walking in. Now, for you chain scoffers, dig a GB Group doing cask and on a regular basis. This is some experimental stuff, to boot. The brewer apparently had no compunction again using jalapeno peppers. Zounds! Mole cask Stout.

Beers: Southern Flyer Light Lager; Southside Pilsner; Toll Tender IPA; Sweet Magnolia; Iron Horse Stout.
Seasonal: Wheat Beer.

Cask (!) - Espresso Stout.

I have been to 7B ~12 or so time over the past 10 years. The beer has never really impressed me in the past. The last time I went 7/7/2009, the brew was light years better than my previous experience. I was able to chat and get an informal tour from the GM "Brian". He is agreat guy, was very generous with his time and hospitality. He learned that I was a homebrewer and showed me the brew areas and even the Cascade hop bines on the roof! Thanks for a great time Brian! I believe the new improvements to be a direct result of a some great management and the new brewer "Eric".

5.0 Atmosphere - Cool open air, high ceiling brewpuc feel. You can see the brew equipment and nice brewery theme. Warm wood atmospeher and a clean yet dark brew pub to disappear in for awhile.

4.0 Quality - The beer quality now seems consitent, with important attention to the craft and serving. Appropriatte gallses are used for seasonal offerings. The beer is much better than in past expereinces now that "Eric" is the brewer.

5.0 Service - Respectable servers & bartenders. Brian the GM rocks and is a model of customer service & hospitality!

4.5 Selection - Awesome for a Jax brew pub. As far as the house beer goes, usually 5-6 offerings, always something new or seasonal. This is the only brewpub in Jax that I know that serves cask offerings! 2 cask ales were available last time I went (7/2009). There is a wide variety of food in the 10-20 range. Some apps are around 10. I personally would order few apps to get a feel for what is best on my next visit. Or a burger seems like it may be a good choice, just not seafood.

3.0 food - The food is just "okay" in my opinion. Most items are satisfactory, but it seems seafood may not be the best option. The last mahi sandwich I got was somewhat fishy.

Seven Bridges is a great place to meet up with a bunch of friends to party down, relax, and enjoy a wonderful selection of food varities.

Atmosphere is relaxing with the beer tanks showing proudly, and plenty of space to breathe.

Quality is right on. You get what you pay for. I never leave without knowing that the quality was there.

Service may be the weak part because on one visit i recall feeling like the bigger parties were treated much more important than me and my girlfriend.

Great selection of micro-brews including an ipa i strongly recommend. The food is also a great pleasure to eat from burgers to steak and seafood.
Nicly priced for a brewery.

Quality: The food is great. chef slected meals and everyone I was with liked their meals

Service: solid, everyone is helpful and good hospitality.

Selection: They have 5-6 micros beers on tap with some bottled macros

Food: great selection with a gourmet touch, not your average pub food.

I highly recommend this place for all vistors. It's a great place to eat and a good place to hang out and try a local selection of beer. I really thnk they need to work on some of their beers though. Food defenitly shines here. Beers are not horrible though.

I was in Jacksonville to judge beers at a homebrew competition, and I ended up judging a couple of flights with Eric, the brewer for Seven Bridges.

After the judging, my wife and I went to visit the brewpub, to check out their beer as well as to have dinner.

I had a "sampler" of beer - six 3-oz samples of each of the draft beers. The bartender kindly included samples of the two cask beers too. The sampler price was $4.68 - a great bargain for 24oz of beer!

In general, the beers were slightly above average, with the light lager, pilsner, Iron Horse Stout, and American Red standing out at the best made beers. It's tough to make a light lager that also has some flavor, but this one definitely had a malt signature to it.

The two beers on cask (Bad Ass Stout and dry hopped Sweet Magnolia Brown) were tasty, but not special.

Burger and Fries was decent, and the Grouper was quite delicious. Service (at the bar) was attentive but not oppressive, so - just right!

Overally, a nice and pleasant experience.
