look: 4.5 | smell: 4.5 | taste: 4.5 | feel: 4.5 | overall: 4.5
Appearance: head receded, quickly, strong carbonation, dark brown resinous amber, as if a VERY dark whisky
Nose: light alcohol burn, some metallic twang, bright notes of malt and sweet, bready honey, slight sweetness, when drank burns nose slightly, some fig in the nose, some leather. Upon pouring smells like lavender (from honey i presume)
Mouthfeel is medium-heavy (very delicious and syrupy)
slight alcohol, very sweet, very bread, strong bitterness that recedes quickly into a sweet bitterness, notes of grassyness and white vinous notes , some fusel alcohol but it is not so overbearing to be unpleasant, finishes with some honey notes, some leather finish, also finishes with some dark berries and chocolate
warm (16c) stronger dark fruit and dark brown sugar. more flower notes, much stronger spice notes when warm

Poured a blackish body with tan head on top of a sweet caramel malt smell with hints of roasted and bitter chocolate and of course some honey and floral hops. Medium to thick bodied, passes smooth and creamy with a good balance of sweetness (honey, caramel, dark fruit?, then something akin to chocolate) and dry ,roasted malt, something like bread or toast and coffee and the alcohol kicks it up a notch and it's a slightly boozy but rewarding finish. Good balance and a very enjoyable sipper.

This is a class act Scotch ale. My friend brought it from Canada.
I disagree with the BA serving temp- it actually should be warmer about 55-60+ F.
The color is a very dark attractive caramel color.
The aroma is honey-butterscotch, which remains with the warming of the beer.
The mouth feel is very smooth, unlike other scotch ales.
The finish is delicate and smooth, and the body is a lighter than other scotch ales I have tasted.
Overall, very distinguished and one of the best scotch ales you will drink.

Picked this up because I have never seen it before and I love a good high gravity Scotch Ale!
Pours a murky dark red, nearly brown into an Imperial pint glass. Nice 2 finger head that slowly fades to a thin ring of bubbles along the outside of the glass. No Lacing that lasts longer than falling back into the foam ring.
Aroma is boozy raisins and chocolate. Figs and prunes come to mind. Caramel as well.
Flavors of boozy dark fruits, cocoa and sweet malt. Finished a tad bit bitter to balance the sweetness.
Mouth is slightly chewy with enough carbonation to keep it from feeling slick.(a la Ten Fidy) Finish is surprisingly dry for all the thickness and sweet flavors.
A real gem of a find! Probably the best Scotch Ale I have ever had. At 12.99 it is a bit steep to drink on a regular basis, but is well worth the treat every now and then! You have to try this!

500ml brown bottle w/ no freshness date though I am sure this one will be able to cellar for a little while a do just fine.
LOOK: Dark brown with garnet highlights, thick lather of foam on top
SMELL: Caramel, treacle, hint of coffee, booze soaked raisins, earthy honey, alcohol, cacao nibs, figgy
TASTE: Slightly smooth, very creamy, dark bread, sweet, mild char, carob, faint chicory, modest bitterness, kiss of honey, toasted grain, grassy, dried plums, warming alcohol, slightly sweet charred finish
Excellent balance here, sweet but there is enough dark malt character and alcohol to push it back so it does not become cloying at all. Seriously ... one of the best Scotch Ales I have tastes to date.

Dark, almost black. Nice 2 fingers of head that dissipates pretty fast. On the nose i get Banana bread, alcohol, honey, and caramel. Also a musty smell from the head, which seems to be common in a lot of Quebec craft brews.
Sugars up front, spicy, I get that banana taste again. Lots of alcohol on the tongue, but given that it's just shy of 11%, its to be expected. Finishes with a nice bitter punch that lingers nicely. Great winter warmer.
Enjoying it quite a lot but I don't think the percentage needs to be this high, the alcohol taste gets a bit overpowering. But overall a well balanced beer.

Pours a very dark copper color with almost an inch of light brown head.
The smell is wonderful. It includes very fragrant tropical fruits, similar to fruit punch mixed with ginger ale. As the head settles the aroma darkens and becomes more like that of dark sweet fruits, cola, caramel, and just a faint hint of coffee. It's like chefs are facing off with desert in the same kitchen. Wow.
Flavor fits well with the smell. one of the more flavorful beers that I have had recently. It's kind of like an alcoholic breakfast. There are notes of dark dried fruits like figs and raisins, a bit of french toast, a bit more coffee than is present in the smell, and some alcohol, like a bourbon. The alcohol has a stronger presence than I would like it to have.
Medium high tingling in the mouth and a hint of tannic character comparable to what you would find in tea.

It appeared in my glass to be leftovers of the BP oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, that's how dark it is. Small chocolate milk looking head, it smelled of booze, scotch, coffee, some sour notes but not much. It tasted of booze but once the beer warmed up a bit,it diluted away. I got dark bitter chocolate aromas, some butteryness it seemed. I don't think it has anything to do with a wee heavy definitely on the scotch ale side. Mouthfeel was a full bodied, needs some aging. Overall a great beer with time, it could be a top notch beer.

Dark copper-ruby-brown with a decent, lightly off-white head. Good, lightly smokey malts, floral hints and a nice dose of honey. Very light bitterness.
Definite honey taste. Toffee malts, flowery, nectar-y tastes. A little too sweet in the aftertaste. Hops are quite light in the flavour. Smokiness isn't present in the flavour, and the malts are actually quite subtle. This comes off as more a honey beer than a scotch ale. I detect that same dry honey characteristic in this as I do in St. Peter's Honey Porter. Alcohol is well hidden.
Really low carbonation, and not too thick. Not thin, almost the right substance to this, but the carbonation needs to be a bit bigger. Just a bit. Still no real trace of the alcohol. A decent beer, but not something to have everyday.
