Bottle shared by Steve, 750ml bottle into a tulip.

Dark brown, with mahogany hues. Thin mocha head with decent retention and lacing. Spicy nose, clove, grape, slight anise, light brown sugar and molasses. Taste has more grape, spice, brown sugar, dark fruits. Medium full feel, with a gentle medium carbonation. A very well done dubbel, I'd revisit this in an instant.

Masterful dubbel, ironically found at Premier. A fascinating change up for a sourfest. Dark brown with a substantial bubbly head. Well malted withs spice and dark malt and grapey in the secondary and building on multiple samples. A nice sweetness. Recommended for Belgian fans.

Pours with a two-finger, thick khaki head that stays and leaves a good lace. Deep ruby/brown color. Good carbonation and medium bodied. Nose is dark fruit, flavor is dark fruit, sweet malt and smooth. Higher ABV is hidden, decent abbey dubbel. $10.80 for a 25oz (not a 750ml) bottle, from Tully's Beer & Wine Wells, Me.

On the way home from hockey game and looking for a nice beer to accomodate a good night's sleep after a hard fought game:

Into my chalice:

A: jet black colored body with a film of an off-white head that lasted for most of the beer. The body was too dark for any carbonation to be seen rising. No lacing whatsoever.

S: centered around sugars, yes, sugars and not malts, very aggressive in my nose.

T: same aroma flavors yet brought in a very slightly hoppiness in the maltiness, hard to describe, interesting, yeasty

M: medium with a very nice smoothness to it that leads anyone who at least in my opinion may not be a dubbel drinker that would love how this feels on your tongue.

O: ok, how long has this beer been out on the market, just curious why someone like me is the first one to review it, no worries. I will say this, though I'm not much of a fan of true "dubbels" this one stuck with me and helped me sleep like a baby after my hockey game on Tuesday. Well done, Brasserie Belgh Brasse!
