A very non-standard style for me, but Pohjala challenge my usual boundaries and often come out well. We'll see! Feels a bit death or glory.
L- Very dark, but even with a halogen torch held on the back of the glass zero light gets through - quite unusual. Poured with 2mm tan head, now cleared to a narrow ring - unsurprising considering it's 10%ABV (x-ref surface-tension etc)
S- Not the cherry-bomb I feared, it's suprisingly mild. So mild I start wondering if my nose has ceased functioning.
T- Oh wow, the taste isn't as shy. Deep pungent deep-roast and mild coffee, and seemingly luscious fresh ripe cherries simply drape themselves upon one's tongue. It's titilating. When I smack my mouth open/closed to get air from my palate in/out my nose I register the cherry note, but it's in no way prominent (to me). Subtle is good on notes like fruits etc.
F- Big, deep, rich, pungent. It's a slow-sipping winter-warmer of a beer. For 10% any ABV zing is light -> good brewing.
O- A beer of this name suggests mega, HUGE cherries. But no there is a modest hint of it but at no point is it ever approaching being clearly notable, never mind loud etc.
So in summary it's a well balanced, very deep and pungent porter with (to me) a quite subtle cherry note running through it. Nice, a bit off-piste. Would I drink it again = yes. Would I buy it again at the price, no it's a bit off-piste vs my usual trad middle-ground, nice as it is it isn't cheap.
330ml bottle £4.75 BB: ?? (Lable says 'See bottle' but IDC a BB *anywhere*). Bought from TremblingMadness/York as part of a large pick-your own consignment to London.

330 ml bottle, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 10%. Black colour, moderate to small tan head. Aroma of roast malts, cherries and almonds. Rich flavour, not too sweet, with the same elements as the aroma, also notes of chocolate. Modest bitterness.
