Got this while spending some time in Seattle

A: pour reveals a nice orange color brew with about 1 ton2 fingers head that lingers a while

S: nose is hopes and candied fruit. Also some malt coming through

T: taste is spicy hops and a nice malt balance. Nothing fancy but this one is solid

M: mouthfeel is spot on. Has a moderate amount of carbonation

O: I could drink this one all night long

A- pours orange with a huge frothy white two inch head. Clumpy lacing, wooo.

S- tropical citrus fruits..

T- A certain sour(?) citrus, kinda of bready. Hmm. Its kinda weird :/

M- Medium mouthfeel, smooth.

D/O- After their DIPA I was expecting big things from this one but I was kind of let down. Chalk it up to self-made inner hype. Id like to try this again to reaffirm what I'm gathering.

Thanks to my father in law for a good birthday present

App-  A bolder darker orange with some amber color.  A big two and half finger head.  Sliding table lace looking stick.

Smell-  A damp orange juice scent with big notes of orange peel and malts.  No hops, no citrus

Taste-  Way too malty.  Unevenly balanced with the malts taking center stage.  No citrus, faint hops

Mouth-  Medium bodied and medium carbed.  A nice bodied IPA with some wetness behind it.

Drink-  Its a big malty IPA, Pretty above average at points across the board.  I wont come back to this one though

Slightly hazy orange-yellow pour with a one and a half finger head with minimal retention but nice lacing. The nose is somewhat subdued, but earthy and malt dominant with strong sappy pine being most prevalent. Bitter, earthy, piney hops up front give way to the toasty malt, but remain dominant throughout. Considering the malt is so dominant in the nose, it's very subdued in the taste. But the character of the hops are somewhat lacking for an IPA. There's pine but not much else. A bit of a wet cardboard aftertaste is present also. The creamy mouthfeel is really nice, almost cask-like. The finish almost saves it as the carmel malt kicks in and gives it a bit of balance and substance, but it's still lacking overall. No date so I can't speak to the freshness. I'll have to give it another try since the score indicates it's better than what I got out of it.

Poured into a shaker pint. Pours a cloudy amber color. Thin white head for an IPA. Ok lacing.

Aroma could use more hops. Little bit of citrus and mostly malt. Smells ok though.

Taste is better than the aroma would suggest. Pretty decent malt taste with a bit of hop bite. Could use a bit more hop flavor.

Mouthfeel is a bit heavier than I like but good.

Overall a tasty IPA. There are better avaliable to me but I might pick it up every once in a while.

Poured from a bomber into a shaker pint glass.

A: Hazy, light orange-amber color with one finger of diminishing turmeric-tinted foam head. Heavy lacing remains on the glass and a dusting of fine sediment is present at the bottom.

S: Carbonic acid adds brightness to earthy herbaceous hops and mild toasted grain, also featuring estery fruit.

T: Begins off-dry, with floral hop aromatics and balanced crystal malt beside somewhat restrained acidity. Pronounced earthy flavor develops in the middle, giving a tea-like impression. The finish sees the emergence of the esters from the smell, matching agreeably with the earth and mild bitterness.

M: Thin to medium viscosity, wet and acidic on the palate, with moderate carbonation.

D/O: This Washington-brewed IPA is English is style, left wanting only for a more aggressive mineral bite to replace the acidic one. At first glance, the profile seems clean with minimal influence from the esters, but they build up on the palate in a way that threatens it with fatigue. While a passing effort, this beer could be more refined in its pursuit of the English archetype.

Very cloudy, with an orange-copper color. The head is a shade darker than eggshell and rises about 2-fingers. The head is pretty short-lived but maintains a foam cap and leaves some nice lace.

The aroma is full of citric and floral hops with a hint of biscuit. The citrus is more of the sweet variety

The flavor is big on citrus, with tangerine, grapefruit and even a little dried apricot thrown in. It's all served up on a good sized palette of malt that becomes more apparent in the middle, but the hops definitely dominate. It ends with more citric, fruity hops, but the malt takes on a bready character and it leaves you with a yeasty and earthy citric aftertaste.

This is a very good brew. I would consider this a benchmark example of the style and an all-around good beer.

This was my first time trying anything from this brewery. Decanted from a bomber bottle

A - poured a deep orange color with a 1/2 inch of head, no real lacing

S - no big hop aroma, a hint of pine? the malt aroma came thru more than the hop

T - had the bottle not said IPA I would have thought it to be a pale ale

M - ok

I checked BA for the overall score before I bought it. This beer was very disappointing to me and I didn't finish the bottle. Maybe I got an old brew which would explain the lack of hop prescence. (no date on bottle) I won't buy this again but might try it fresh on tap.

Porued a deep orange-amber into a tulip with a finger of light eggshell head. Strong and fairly straightforward aroma of juicy grapefruit and pine mixed with caramel sweetness.

Slightly low carbonation and a fairly thick, creamy mouthfeel. Lots of grapefruit and orange up front with some bready caramel malt and a kick of bitter pine on the finish.

A well-executed IPA and very drinkable if not particularly memorable.

12oz bottle poured into tulip feb21 2011

A hazy orange glow with a fast falling beige head that leaves a single partial ring of lace with a couple random patches

S pine, citrus and a tea bag smell with a little booze

T mimics the smell quite well but a little earthy compared to the nose and some sweet malt comes out

M thick enough with just enough carbonation to please and leaves a little grit behind and a long aftertaste

D easy enough to drink but nothing amazing, not lacking in any area but I'm not blown away by anything either

not sure how old this one is as I don't see a date anywhere, I remember really liking the DIPA by Pike but their standard IPA is exactly that, standard, worth trying but not seeking out

Bomber poured into my Gulden Draak tulip.

The pour yielded a very lovely light maple hue with a nicely formed white head. Bands of white lace and well retained. Wonderfully clear. The nose, however, is weak at best. I get the slightest hint of earthiness, some crystalized grain, and a touch of pine. Everything is there, it's just... well... weak! I feel like I'm struggling to get a whiff of something here. The flavor gives forth a less than assertive pine with even less grapefruit. I can definitely taste the malts: a blend of sweetness and cereal character. But this doesn't really strike me as an IPA. Weird, out of place alcoholic warmth in the finish. Texture is a middle of the road body that doesn't really give much to talk about. I feel like this beer lost me shortly after presenting itself in the glass. Everything seems muted, leaving me guessing and trying to find redeeming qualities, but failing. I really enjoyed Pike's xxx Stout but this is simply not cutting it. An American Pale Ale, sure I'll buy that. An IPA? Nope.

12 ounce bottle poured into a shaker pint

Looks like: Yellowish amber in color, thin head retention and sporadic lacing

Smells like: Bread, pine, rosemary

tastes like: Balanced sweet bready malts, in conjunction with a focused pine and herbal notes

feels like: medium carbonation, light in body, light astringence on the finish.

Fairly drinkable, didn't find this beer to be particularly special. Tastes decent, looks ok, smells alright, fairly clean hop character and decent balance. Works in a pinch, not a lot of flaws but also a bit forgettable too.

22oz bomber bottle poured into a pint glass. No bottle date found on the label or the bottle.

A: Clear, amber color with 2 finger head that stuck around for a little bit. Nice lacing.

S: No real IPA nose (my opinion). I got more malts then hops that you usually find.

T: Much like the nose, the taste wasn't that impressive. I wanted more from this West Coast IPA, and it just wasn't there. No horrible, as I drank it, but thought there'd be more.

M: Good mouthfeel. Wasn't overly chewy or mouth puckering.

D: Very drinkable beer, but the questions is will you want another one?

Overall, fair not great on this one. BUT considering the price was so low, it is worth trying some of their line now and in the future.

Appearance:
Orange-amber color, pretty hazy. Nice fine bubbles. Head looks thick and chunky. Lacing looks very nice on the glass.

Aroma:
Aroma is a little mild, but I get citrus hops, a little piney, sweet malts.

Taste & Mouthfeel:
Very juicy mouthfeel. Citrus hops, slight piney with clean malt background.

Finish & Aftertaste:
Very crisp and refreshing, leaves a nice sweet floral aftertaste.

Overall Impressions:
Very nice for a regular IPA. Highly drinkable and very sessionable.

Bottle courtesy of Presario. Pours orange body with significant off-white head. Mild hop aroma. Passable IPA taste, the bitterness is there mostly in the finish, almost astringent.A little grapefruit. Not greatly drinkable.Midling mouthfeel.Malt there but it does nothing special for me.

Serving: Bomber into a very tall glass.

A: Poured a clear amber color with about a half inch of thick head. Very attractive. A fair level of carbonation is visible.

S: The smell was big on malt right out of the bottle, I could even smell it while I was pouring it. The smell is predominantly malt, it overpowers the hops.

T: Very malt forward with a strong hop backbone. Has a really clean finish which is great. Well balanced.

M: Crisp and slightly bubbly, very good.

D: This IPA is very smooth and goes down very easy. I'm glad I gave it a try. I would definitely buy it again.

Pours a nice clear amber, typical, but the off-white head is thick and frothy and sticks around for a while. Aroma is fairly hoppy, if not strongly so, with an undertone of grapefruit and sour orange. Flavor is hoppy and woody, slightly bitter, a little fruity - mainly orange and grapefruit, no sweetness. Lacing is fairly substantial. Texture is fairly smooth, lively and fizzy, leaving a fairly persistent tingle.

This here is just about the epitome of solid, easy drinkin', well balanced west coast IPA.

The aroma is overwhelmingly citrusy, and it's a strange kind of citrus since it's only partially from the hops. Along with your alpha acid nodes of grapefruit and orange, you also have some almost wheatmalty hints of lemongrass. Nice.

It tastes much more like a traditional IPA. Hops dominate but are kept in check by nice, medium strength maltiness that tastes like an unfrosted sugar cookie.

West coasters effectively invented hoppy pales. For more than 30 years, beer like this have been part of a very important cultural institution. It may seem a little tame by 2010 standards, especially to a midwesterner, but a beer like this serves as an important testament to growth of the style.

Bomber to pint glass. No date or batch number.

A: Only 1 finger of head is produced after a semi-vigorous pour. Very light khaki in color, creamy in texture and medium retention leading to a lingering bubbly film. The body is very hazy and orange cream in color. Fair lacing is left on the glass.

S: Above average malts of caramel, bread and grain. The pine resiny/grassy hops are almost overwhelmed by the malts. Light earthy yeast contribution.

T: Light dust and cardboard flavors come through. At least the flavor duration is long and the 60 IBUs produce a bigger-than-expected bitterness.

M: The body is medium-light and a touch thin, somewhat creamy.

D: Not much to discuss here, very average and nothing special. Leaves a lot to be desired.

On tap, this is light amber with a small head soon to a foamy ring and leaving some very nice lace.

Aroma is light citrus character, caramelly toasty grain.

Taste is zesty, citrusy light bitterness with light leafiness and earthy hint lightly dominating a caramelly grain body and lingering a little. Overall, it has a full character, excellent, clean flavours, and leans lightly to the bitter side.

Earthy thick reddish gold pour. Looks very chewy. 1/2 finger of medium cream head. No retention. Decent lacing.

Nose is pine and floral essence. Substantial malt backbone underneath. Smells very rich and full.

Thin hit up front, but gets thick fast. Bit of a scotch ale flavor here, slightly peaty. Very good bitters in the finish with a nice dry ending. If you like an earthy feel to your ipa, then this is one to try.

Feel matches the nose, nice and rich.

Great drinking ipa.

A- Dark amber color. Minimal white head at the pour, dissipating to nothing in seconds.

S- The smell of wet newspaper covers most of the muted malt and very faint citric hop smells, which are just barely detectable.

T- Bready malt up front with hop dryness. Mid palate is malty, and the finish is hop bitterness.

M, D - Medium feel, with average drinkability
