Poured from a 22oz bottle into a New Belgium snifter. Pours rather dark in color, brown with a slightly tanned, frothy, two finger sized head. Plenty of bubles race up the side of theglass to replenish the burnt marshmallow colored head.
I did not like thearoma on this one at all. It smelled like sour garbage, dirty diapers, moldy grass, and bum's breath. Blech. No pumpkin whatsoever.
The flavor was a little better but not much. I did get some seasonality in the flavor by way of stale pumpkin pie topped with burnt, ground cinnamon. What thehell is wrong with this one?!
This may be one of theworst pumpkin beers I have had: if not theworst, definitely top 3 worst. Maybe the trip from Seattle to South Florida made this one rancid, or maybe its just a bad beer. Yuck...

22 ounce bottle - $4.99 at Total Wine & More in Kennesaw, Georgia.
Appearance: Pours out a very dark brown body with an inch of struggling to sustain, light beige foam.
Smell: Dark, toasty malts (toasted nuts, toasted bread) with brown sugar, earthy prickly spices, fruity esters, mashed squash, alcohol. OK.
Taste: Dark brown maltiness, with tastes of crusty dark bread, brown sugar, molasses. Medium-light sweetness. Slight estery raisin fruitiness. Allspice, clove, something a little earthy, and the faux-heated ginger. Squashy pumpkin character is fairly light. Lightly bitter. Remains malty, spicy, and, if you're lucky, it reminds that, yes, there is some pumpkin in this thing until the end. Finishes fairly smooth, with some alcohol warmth exacerbated by the warming nature of some of the spices in the spice mix.
Mouthfeel: Medium-plus body. Medium carbonation.
Overall: Great? No, but it's good enough, and it's always nice to see a pumpkin ale that doesn't follow same tired, old, trodden path.

22oz bomber, split
appearance: nice provocative label, beer pours into my delirium chalice - pretty dark mahogany body, light muddy film
smell: mostly spice - some roasted pumpkin, a lot of booze
taste: decent flavor profile, but not elite - spicy rye, booze, roasted pumpkin, nutmeg. A little too hot for the style - would have preferred something that showcased the pumpkin a bit more
mouthfeel: spicy, boozy
overall: ok - but not a repeat purchase

This poured darker than I would have expected, it was more like a porter. Nice subtle pumpkin and some sweet malt in the nose. The taste was full with a good amount of pie spice but not overpowering. I excected some roasty flavor based on the color but there was none. A nice sweetness thought with a bit of herbal hops tones to finish. Definitely one of the best "Imperial" style pumpkin beers I've had this season.

Smells like a great pumpkin ale. Lots of spice and pumpkin. Taste is mildly disappointing though. A little weaker than I would think from the smell and definitely not enough malt. Fairly mellow at 8.5% though. I would rank it middle of the road for pumpkin ales/beers. Good enough to drink the whole night, not great enough to distinguish itself.

Poured into a Seattle Beer Week pint glass. Pours a dark, murky mahogany brown. Thin wispy head dissipates immediately leaving a very thin ring around the glass. Aroma of light malt, vegetable pumpkin, light pie spicing. Flavor follows with pumpkin, pie spice and light sweet malt, finishes spicy pumpkin and bitter, probably from the spices, but perhaps from some neutral flavored hops. The vegetable flavor dominates the flavor at the end of the taste and is not completely supported by the malt. Medium body with a hint of creaminess, light carbonation. An interesting take on a pumpkin ale that gets credit for a good genuine pumpkin flavor, but is not quite well balanced and somewhat undercarbonated.
