My family & I had lunch here last summer on a very nice day. We sat out on the patio & enjoyed our food & beer just a few yards away from the Deschutes river. The setting was like being in someone's backyard, rather than in a restaurant. The quality of the beer was average for a micro's, the was pretty good.

The decor in this place is all rural PNW outdoorsiness. Fishing rods, toboggans, and snow shoes adorn the walls. The clean and classy building is located near the downtown district with a nice view of the river outside the main dining area and the bar. Comfortable and clean, but really no points for originality.
The selection was decent - five or so regulars (all PNW ales) and several seasonals, including a dopplebock and a vaguely-barleywine type thing (the server just refered to it as an "imperial")
Service was helpful and eager, and provided free samples without prompting, but there was little indication of beer knowledge.
Overall, the beers were all solid, if a little stuck in a PNW-rut, but the pours were a bit too cold. Again, I ask, why can't brewpubs serve their own beer at a proper temp?

Beautiful location with an inviting back patio overlooking the river. They are destined to be atleast the #2 brewery in town, as Deschutes Brewery clearly dominates the Bend scene. Nonetheless, Bend Brewery has delicious food, a wide range of beers, and a great location. This place sees quite a large volume of locals, which is really a good thing, because the people here are very welcoming.
Nothing beats coming here in the summer and having lunch or dinner on the back patio area, breathing in the mountain air and sipping on excellent seasonal or signiture ales! Keep up the good work Bend Brewing Company!!

This is a great place to go in Bend if the more major microbrewery place is crowded. This is a place with a great patio to sit on hot summers day. Drink their Hefe, Pale Ale, or IPA and watch the day go by. They got great views of the Mirror Pond on the river that the other brewery gets its name from.
Inside there are a couple of choices for seating. In the bar area, if you want to meet folks or down in the dining room with its large picture windows and Bend views.
This place can get crowded in the evening but the wait staff are friendly and the food comes out quickly. Their calamari is about the best I've gotten here in Oregon.
I like to stay in a downtown inn within walking distance. That way I can sample more of their beers.

The location is good. There is lots of natural light in the bar, which I liked quite a bit, although the seating configuration was pretty jam packed. The place gets crowded, and it's fine, but I don't really love crowds.
The food here was great and the beer was absolutely awesome. Every time I visit Bend, I make it a point to check out the Bend Brewing Company. It's really a staple place in the community and it's nice to support a local spot.
The service was good and the server was very personable. That's always nice. I can appreciate a good staff, especially when a place is crowded. Kudos to the management at the time for paying attention to the small stuff.

Nice place down near the Dechutes River in downtown Bend. Nice looking on the inside, high ceilings, artwork on the walls, plenty of tables and a few high def TV's.
Beer quality was pretty good. I had an IPA that was OK, but the very nice Bitter that I had second made up for the average IPA.
Service was really good. Prompt, friendly, and quite attentive.
Selection was 9 beers, with a good variery.
Food was tasty, I had a very nice soup and salad.
Value seemed a bit pricey. Not bad, but a few dollars more than I pay at comparable places.
Worth checking out.

According to my parents, this is the locals' favorite brewery. This establishment looks like a little old country storefront from the street, but the place goes way, way back all the way to Mirror Pond, with a huge bar and 2-level breweryrestaurant addition. There's also a nice little patio out back, though it was closed off for the winter. Atmosphere is a little sparse and modern-sterile on the decoration. You can see the brewing tanks upstairs through large glass windows, and the place has kind of a German feel. A nice open space, with very good service:
-they brought free samples...to our table!
-waiter kept water glasses filled
-head waitress stopped by twice
-everyone in the place was smiling, even the dishwasher
Selection was good, they had the Hefe, Old Ale, Golden Ale, IPA, Porter and a couple seasonals on tap. The Old Ale was a little above average and not what I expected, I had a sip of my dad's Hefe and it was good (probably could be better but they served it with a LEMON. Augh!) Pulled pork sandwich was good, a bit above regular bar fare. The beer was good, not a real standout but this place was quite nice and I'd still go back again and try a few more.

My last stop before heading out of town yesterday
Bend Brewing is located in what appears to be an old home (at least from the outside). As you walk in the side door, there's a small dining area to your right, and then down the hallway to your left is the main bar and a larger dining area. The small dining are seems warm and homey, while the bar area and larger dining area has more of corporate, high energy vibe. I perched myself on seat at the bar and happily ordered a hophead DIPA.
Beer quality here is pretty damn good, second in Bend only to Boneyard in my opinion. Everything I tried here was very, very good, from the Ching Ching fruit sour, to the Belgian style dubbel (one of the best domestic versions I can recall having), to the Elk Lake IPA to the Hophead. I think there were 10 or 12 beers on tap this day, and pretty much everything they make was available in bombers as well (including the Ching Ching and the Hophead).
As for service, it was OK. The bartender was apparently a bit the worse for wear (based on some comments I overheard), and consequently his focus seemed a bit off at times. However, he was pleasant enough otherwise, and I didn't have to wait all that long for my second glass of Hophead.
Prices were pretty reasonable for beer ($3 a glass I believe for my 10 ounce glass of HopHead), but a bit spendy for food (wings for $12, large basket of fries for $5.25 and large basket of sweet potatoe fries for a $8). I didn't eat here, so maybe it's worth the price. Grabbed two bottles of Ching Ching, a hophead t-shirt and I was on my way back to Eugene.
I'll definitely be back.

This establishment is located in the old Bend downtown a few blocks from Highway 97. This looked like a "hole in the wall" at first but when you are inside its rather clean and spacious..with two main seatin areas..a small one at the front and a larger area at the back with marvelous views of the Deschutes River..patio outside. I sat at the bar.
The beers here are all Bend Brewing..they seem to be good and the place is popular The brewhouse is upstairs, you can see some of the equipment over the bar.
I found the service to be excellent and friendly..free samples even!..an odd beer a NItro honey wheat..didnt think to review it.
Food here is usual pub fair but very well done I had a Philly steak sandwich.
Over all a nice place to bring a date or your family.

A great little brewpub. As the other reviews have stated, a relaxed atmosphere with a great feel. The patio has a beautiful view overlooking the river/pond, but it was raining on my visit so we sat at the bar. A solid lineup of brews, variety wise, were all top notch, within my limited tasting time. I had 4 pints and tasters of everything else on tap and found that they lived up to their reputation. My bartender was prompt, friendly, knowledgeable and, most importantly, did not linger or be nosy. He answered every question I had, while taking good care of a busy bar and keeping his servers happy (an often impossible task). The food was typical pub grub, very well done. I had meatball sub that found the meatballs slightly tough but was otherwise very good. Value-wise I would have given the food $$1/2 if i could have, but they are in a rural area that adds to delivery costs. Highly recommended.
