Presentation: 250ml brown bottle with a demon dancing amongst the full moon on the label. Best before date clearly notched.

Appearance: Hazy to the point of being cloudy ... most of the dregs where very unsettled and rose to the top of the bottle when opened from the carbonation. Nice orange amber hue ... thin off white lace on top.

Smell: Lots of alcohol in the nose with hints of brandy and alcohol soaked raisins.

Taste: Very fat and chewy malt mouth feel with a creamy slickness coming from the alcohol. Moderate carbonation accenting the spicy sweet alcohol that seems to dominate the front ... we could feel the alcohol warm from mouth to belly. Some fruitiness and hop bitterness is evident leaving candied orange and raisins with a hop leaf flavours. Ghost like grain in the finish that leaves an amazingly clean after taste.

Notes: Not a beer you would want to dance with every night though a treat every once in a while. The only problem was the dregs sneaking into the glass even when I did pour with care ... note that this is a filtered brew though there was a little sediment. Oddly for a brew that boasts 15% abv it has a best before date, I encourage you to buy a couple a lay one down for a while.

25 cl bottle poured into a Duvel snifter

A: Quite clear, orange coloured with a big, foamy, white head. Leaves a nice lacing in my glass.

S: Obvivious boozy smell combined with caramel. Vague fruity notes, pear and white grapes.

T: Follows the smell. Sweet caramel and some toffee with a lasting alcoholic heat. Some fruitiness comes through, reminiscent of white wine. almost no bitterness

M: Medium-bodied with low carbonation and a pronounced alcohol heat.

O: Not well balanced beer. The alcohol component is just too overpowering for me, which makes for an uninteresting beer. I don't think i'll buy this one again in the near future.
