Notes:
This one’s for the beer geek in all of us. The Gold Stock is a cult classic that’s offered up only one or two times a year. If you catch the rare sighting of this “draft only” beer, rejoice. What we did first when we made this was we brewed a full-bodied, golden ale. Then we went absolutely nuts with the pricey German hops. This smooth but biting beer is our own individual take on the pleasant India Pale Ale. It’s one of those beers you have to try. Look for it and order two!

Pint poured from a 64 oz. growler, filled on 1/28/13.
Hazy, cloudy, golden body with white brassy edges. Finger of cottony, gauzy, casky, off-white head. Nice lacing. Solid hop nose. Strong on the spicy, herbal, peppery, slightly funky noble characters. Some citrus rind as well. Fruity malt aromas play bass. Faint woody, oaky twinge. Lovely!
Spicy, bitterish, gentle hops up front. Malt fills in underneath, with notes of biscuit, cookie, and light fruit (melon and pear). Mineral water bitterness picks up a bit. Grassy, sea-air funk hop flavors roll in nicely. Peppery, dry finish. Subtle woody notes and even a little oaky vanilla. Medium body, with a smooth, creamy feel. Interesting, complex, and crazy drinkable. A big time winner!

Appearance: Gold, cloudy, white head, lovely lacing.
Smell: Gold Stock is well balanced. You certainly had a hop presence, however it was balanced with orange oil, coriander, and citrus notes.
Taste: In one word: smooth. This beer was so well balanced between an IPA and a wheat beer it was unreal. Imagine a Lagunitas IPA mixed with a less yeasty Allagash White, and that’s what this beer was. If I ever see this during the summer, I will buy every keg… it’s a perfect summer brew. Gold Stock was easy to drink, perfectly carbonated, and a joy to pour out of the little brown jug. It finished with some spiciness and was very satisfying.

Growler filled this morning.
A - hazy light pilsner-esque body with a good finger of cotton/bone-white head.
S - First you get lots of classic noble hops - lots of spiciness/slightly herbal notes, some citrus/stonefruit, and some oaky notes that I do not usually equate with an nose. Cool.
T - Floral/herbal/spicy hops first, like a strong pilsner or noble hopped IPA, then a direct left turn right into oaky, slightly vanilla goodness. Leaves you with wonderful citrus at the end. Just unreal.
M - Drinks like a light crisp pilsner. Very light body, on the higher carb end, not sticky or cloying. Incredible drinkability.
One of the most unique and awesome beers I've ever had the chance to try. Never had anything like this before, not sure I'll ever find anything comparable. Really quite amazing. I could drink this beer every day. Wish they made it more than once a year!

Thanks to Sandman3479.
Growler into snifter glass.
A: Hazy Golden Straw Hue, Passes Some Light, White Head Ring, Some Lacing
S: Floral, Mild Citrus, Mild Oakey
T: Floral, Citrus, Grainy
M: Decent Carbonation, Medium Bodied, Mildly Bitter, Mildly Drying
Overall, very hoppy and grainy for 'american strong ale'...more like an IPA.

Lousy weather on the East Coast, must be Gold Stock Week! Poured into a tulp glass, this has to be a Bot predessor! Frothy head, nice citrus nose and just a little vanilla. Go to beer pluss! I forget that every year this is such an easy drinkable beer. This should be canned!

Served in a pint glass with one fingers worth of white foamy head.
Slightly hazy pale golden body. A slight ring of head remains and not much else.
Smells of citrus and lemony hops and bready yeast. Some
sticky an sweet pale malts and some pineyness.
Tastes mostly of pine and lemony hops. Some bready yeasty notes and a finish of what some may say is an oaky tannic quality.
Medium thin bodied. Low carbonation. Resinous piney sticky finish.
Overall this is a good beer. Nice smell, good taste and fairly complex.
$5.50 a pint

Light yellow-orange in color, with a cloudy poor. Whiffs of glorious citrus and herbal hops fortified with a little oak. On the tongue it starts off hoppy and bitter but leaves you with a moderate amount oak flavor, a tad of vanilla from the wood, and lingering hop citrus. The flavor to ABV ratio is off the charts. It's big flavors are unique and deliciously packed into a relatively low amount of alcohol that just begs you to have another!
