Pour from a 64 oz growler into a 668 tulip glass.

A - Pours a nearly jet black body, just a hint of light passes through the very edges exposing a dark brown color. Two fingers of light khaki foam settles down quickly. Great lacing and retention.

S - This is an absolute coffee bomb. Just a huge rush of fresh cold roasted coffee beans. Throw in a bit of milk chocolate, oats and some light roasted malts and that is about it. Its eerily similar to Founders Breakfast Stout. The coffee is just so damn intoxicating with a smooth oat finish.

T - Fresh and intensely bitter coffee beans, sweet milk chocolate, smooth oats and lightly bitter roasted malts. Very basic but again, huge coffee presence. This is incredibly tasty stuff if you're a fan of coffee. The chocolate sweetness on the end seems to cut through perfectly.

M - Medium bodied with high carbonation, somewhat syrupy and sticky. Rather drinkable given its low abv and single stout status.

O - Wow, this is a very impressive beer. Just an unrelenting force of coffee goodness. Its just so damn fresh and strong with a solid albeit overpowered chocolate and roasty backbone. The oatmeal element also provides a smooth and grainy body. I could just drink this every morning....

The next step in the evolution of Stout Trooper. New England's finest offering yet. Everything about this excels from beginning to end. A Stout hunters must have. Even the folks with different palates have been shocked by it's coffee goodness when shared...

Growler straight from the brewery. Pours a pitch black color with an inch of light brown head. Some lacing. The aroma is sweet with some roasted malts, coffee chocolate, milk, and brown sugar. The taste is dark chocolate and roasted malts upfront followed by some sweet milk and oats. Coffee throughout. Silky, light mouthfeel. Very drinkable with a light alcohol presence. Overall, a tasty, easy drinking Oatmeal Stout with a good amount of coffee flavor.

Poured from a 64 oz. growler.

A: Pours an oily black with a light brown head that rises quickly with an aggressive pour. Head retention is a lot better than described in other reviews, borders on puffy.

S: Incredible full bodied coffee, the smell of rich chocolate appears as you make your way through the coffee.

T: Taste follows the aroma, coffee first followed by roasted chocolate. Real nice beer if there is any complaint it is probably my feeling towards all coffee flavored beers where as I hit my 2 & 3 glasses out of the growler I start to get the favors of old diner coffee.

M: Mouthfeel is perhaps a little thinner then I like but acceptable for the low ABV.

O: Overall very nice and one I will drink everytime they make it.

64 oz. growler. Filled on 3/20/13.

Dark inky brown to almost black. Pinkie finger of gauzy, light khaki head. Nice lacing. Dark chocolate, full city roast coffee, peat, and licorice on the nose. Nice.

Roasted coffee and cocoa nib bitterness up front. Notes of dark fruit and caramel mid-palate. Nice coffee flavor and bitterness mixes with dark chocolate bitterness into the finish. Lingering caramel. Medium body with a nice, creamy feel. Very well made and would be a great addition to the canning line!
