A-amber with a nice cream colored head
S-smells like sweet sugary hops. Somewhat biscuity. Faint scent
T-comes in with a taste of sweet herbal hops. Also a lasting flavor of biscuits. There's an aged herbal flavor to it. Not flawed, but very boring, especially for an IPA. Some sips seem to have a hint of passion punch to it.
M-medium creamy carbonation with a watery finish
O-definitely an okay beer, but not so great for an IPA. It's missing a strong flavor of hops or a good bitterness. I love what SA is doing with this Lat 48 series by using different hops, I'm just wondering why they aren't choosing hops normally associated with good IPAs, besides the simcoe.

The first thing I noticed on the pour was how light in color it was. This beer for an IPA is very light and the color is golden. One could mistake this for a pils or blonde I bet.
The head was fizzy and short lifed. Carbonation was very robust so why the lame head.
Aroma was very weak. Mosaic hops are said to impart a fruity scent but I smelled a more floral aroma. The scent is quite weak so.
Taste is fairly malty. No sign of hops here but they're here for this beer is quite bitter. Malts are bready and yeasty.
Drinks light and with barely any flavor. For a beer so lacking it is really quite bitter.
This is something I would expect to see at all those chain restaraunts and luckily not my house.

An east coast attempt at a west coast style ipa with nice head good color and citrus hoppy tones. Very drinkable and widely available in New England. My go to six when selection is limited. It is available everywhere around here in the markets around here Massachusetts and great specials are offered in neighboring New Hampshire .

Solid, if modest head. Starts with some webby lace. The color is light amber/dark gold color.
Pleasantly mellow crystal malt/floral hop aroma.
This is a very easy to drink IPA. It has all of the traditional elements--strong malt start to the taste, notable white-pepper hop swallow and finish, and a decently full body. Moderate carbonation.

A: Pours a crystal clear medium copper in color with light amounts of gentle carbonation near the surface of the beer and some amber highlights. The beer has a finger tall frothy dark beige head that slowly reduces to couple of small medium thick patches, a thin film covering the majority of the remainder of the surface of the beer, and a medium thick ring at the edges of the glass. Light to moderate amounts of lacing are observed.
S: Moderate aromas of caramel malts with some slightly lighter tropical/melon hops.
T: Upfront there are moderate flavors of caramel malts with a light amount of caramel sweetness. That is followed by light to moderate flavors of tropical/melon and citrus/grapefruit rind hops. Light to moderate amounts of lingering bitterness.
M: Medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Slightly crisp upfront.
O: An interesting choice of hops (Mosaic) make this beer one that is worth trying and even worth trying again. I found it to be slightly sweeter and slightly maltier than other examples of the style. Fairly easy to drink.

The mosaic hop....never heard of it...so when I read on the bottle this IPA was made with the mosaic hop I gladley picked it up for $7.97 at my neighborhood grocery store....(it was on sale)...
I waited until I installed a new sump pump under my house before I opened the first bottle..it was a way to reward myself for a successful home project...
I did not get a lot of aroma when i initially opened up the bottle...a little more when I poured it in a pint glass....a little more sweet (maybe some citrusy notes) than I remember the last time I drank a Sam Adams Latitude IPA.
This is a very well balance beer. There is a nice malty backbone-firm but not strong like the older IPA--but the hop characteristics are more pronounced and better defined. The cliche grapefruit and piney flavors are certainly there, but for some reason I tasted a bit of peach and sweet apple...that is what i enjoyed the most. To me, this Latitude IPA is much better than the elder.
Once again, Sam Adams matches body and ABV with great accuracy....and just enough bitterness lingers after the swallow to make you want another sip...this is a nice IPA for snobs and rookies alike.
I rate it 3.75

Appearance: Clear amber. Decent lace of head remains.
Smell: Grapefruit, pine, citrus, and maybe vanilla.
Taste: Malty citrus and pine.
Mouthfeel: Moderate carbonation.
I like this IPA. The grapefruit and pine smell is so inviting, and the bitterness is decent. It's a bit too malty for my tastes, but definitely enjoyable. I would probably get this again.

Thanks to my brother tenderbranson69 for sharing this with me,enjoyed chilled from a 1/2 pint froma 12 oz brown bottle.
The color is a familiar medium amber with very good clarity and thin cream of light beige with small bead and good retention. The smell is very pleasant with some grapefruit and herbal notes and mild sweet piney elements with light malt ester. The feel is good with mostly bitter texture but has nice resinous oily almost creamy body with a nice malt foundation allowing the bitterness to be cushioned somewhat. Moderately carbonated with semi-dry finish.
The taste is very hop influenced with some mild tangerine notes and slight simcoe-like herbal earthy tinges with some mild herbal and tangy hop flavor with yeast gently supporting the mild caramel tinge from the malt. Overall I loved the taste and it was gone too quickly. I would look for this if you are at all appreciative of Latitude 48 in the original formula because this is a lot better IMO.
