This beer pours an inky black color, with a thin brown head that fades slowly, leaving a pretty thick lace.

This beer smells of mild roasted coffee beans. Some bitter chocolate aroma is present as well. Some toffee and a slight caramel aroma is also slightly noticable.

This beer tastes much like it smells. Mostly coffee, but mildly. Some chocolate. Almost like chocolate covered espresso beans.

This beer is smooth. It leaves a toffee like and coffee aftertaste. It is a little higher in carbonation than I would expect.

This beer would probably make a good session beer. It isnt too high in alcohol, and the flavor is great.

Overall: This beer is the entire reason I choce to buy the Holiday pack. I hope they telease it sometime in a six pack. This beer is great. One of the best I have ever had from BBC.

12 oz bottle into Deschutes tulip snifter

A - Not much head, retention, or lacing - but some. Beer is a very dark brown/ruby with bits of khaki foam.

S - Slighty burnt coffee grind character, bits of sweet dark malt. Nothing that offensive, really, but not much to write about.

T - The coffee flavor is dominant, but it has that same kind of wet coffee grind character. Tastes a lot like carbonated coffee, but not particularly good coffee.

M - Not as oily as I'd like, but not bad. Carbonation is a little off - closer to a cola than an American Stout. It's ok.

O - Drinkable but not impressive. Concept is ok, but they need a better coffee component if they do it again. As is... Next, please!

Served on tap in a sample glass.

Appearance: Dark brown color, with a thin brown head. Very little lacing on the glass.

Smell: Malts, Coffee, some chocolate. Not overpowering, but great smell to it.

Mouthfeel/Taste: Smooth and medium to full bodied. Taste of coffee, chocolate, and malts that were well balanced.

Overall: Great take on a coffee type stout, one of the better stouts I have had lately.
