Poured from a 12 ounce bottle into a beer mug.
Appearance: Beer is a dark amber color with no visible carbonation. Head is frothy and dimples down beautifully. Sticky cobweb lacing as the head recedes.
Smell: Grapefruit and pine sap with a little bit of caramel maltiness. Hops are a real beauty here. Absolutely a great example of the style.
Taste/Mouthfeel: Beer is medium bodied with a very subtle carbonation. Taste is bitter and sweet; chewy malt is accented by some very floral hops. Mid sip, there's a caramel feeling, and the aftertaste is all hops. The hop oils coat the tongue and prime you for another sip.
Overall: One of the best damn IPAs I have had, American or otherwise. I'd like to see an Imperial IPA from these guys.

Bottle poured in to a Sam Adams glass ( what else?)
Red russet / dark amber with a faint, consistent carbonation. Thick two finger foam quickly settled into a nice white capped layer with decent lacings on the glass
Hops with a pine aroma
Clean hoppy bitterness as expected. Medium to medium heavy mouthfeel. Hoppy bitterness aftertaste on the back of my tongue.
In fairness to the label, I should have enjoyed this more than three months ago. Hoppy IPA beer brewed in an American IPA style. Enjoyable.

Stunned to see that I've never rated this beer, as the case I bought over 3 years ago has been very slowly enjoyed and tonight is my last bottle? Definitely no longer "fresh", the hops have faded, but still a decent beer and an indication of what a (relatively) big brewer can accomplish, if so inclined...
Still looks nice in a glass, amber with white peaks and enough carbonation to be fun to drink. The dried blood aroma of faded hops is solely due to their age (and poor care keeping) of this bottle, I well remember this beer packing a tropical aromatic punch. Likewise the taste is now malt-forward and many nuances are missing, but still an enjoyable portfolio despite being kept well beyond its date.
Not fond of the latitude moniker, but this continues to be an exceptionally well brewed beer. Thank-you, Sam Adams!
