12 oz bottle served in pint glass. Marked "Best by" April 2011 (plenty fresh).

Pours a perfectly clear ad lovely amber color with a good amount of tan head. The head has good retention and leaves plenty of lacing. Zero sediment in bottle.

Hops dominate the malts in both the aroma and the taste, but the hops don't mask the malts in either. IMO, this is how an IPA should be balanced. The bitterness is partly countered by malt sweetness; IBU around 60, I'd guess. There's a little earthiness (English hops?) and some citrus and fruity notes.

Perhaps the hops (a "select blend of hops from top German, English, and American growing regions all located close to the 48th latitude") could be more pronounced in both the aroma and flavor; so some might lower the rating a bit for not creating the full "hopslam" you sometimes get from an American IPA. While I too like a good "hopslam", this beer is so enjoyable it deserves a high rating. It does leave a long-lasting, and not overly bitter, hoppy aftertaste.

M - moderate but very fine-grained carbonation; medium body

A-pours a golden copper color with white sudsy head with pretty nice retention
S-lots of pine and resin, some subtle malt in the background
T-more pine with some citrus notes in the finish, the malt provides a nice balance but does not lend much to the flavor
M-medium bodied
O-really nice and well balanced IPA. It isn't out of this world but definitely nails the style.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a snifter.

A- Pours an amber clear body with a small white head that reduces quickly and leaves some uniform thin lacing.

S- Sweet caramel malt, citrus, pine, and breadyness.

T- Subtle hoppy pine, resin, and citrus zest sitting on a soft caramel, lightly toasted malt, vanilla backbone. Leaves some bitterness on the tongue.

M- Overcarbonated with a medium body.

Nothing awesome but a solid IPA that's easy going down. Not overly bitter with a nice hop-malt balance.
