12 oz bottle from Summer Styles pack poured into a Sam Adams Perfect Pint glass; "best by" date of August.

Appearance: The body is a nice copper/deep amber color, topped by a big frothy head of two fingers and slowly dissipates to a full cap of foam, leaving behind some incredible web-like lacing all the way down the glass in classic IPA style.

Smell: Most definitely smells like an IPA, the hop presence is fairly pungent. I pick up some citrusy hops in the vein of orange and grapefruit, followed up by some pine resin scents and some floral/herbal earthiness. The malt profile, though subtle in the nose, smells slightly toasted and maybe even nutty, although more bready than anything. Very well-done and balanced; I was expecting more malt but was pleased with the hop presence.

Taste: The front of the tongue is hit with toasty malt, slightly roasted and nutty, blended with what tastes like some caramel; the second half of the flavor is when the hops kick in: Big blast of grapefruit and orange rinds, and then some leafy/herbal/grassy combo following up. The finish takes on some pine notes and blends with some malty sweetness. A balanced but assertive IPA; I loved that I could pick all of the different hop profiles (English/German/American etc.) but wasn't overwhelmed.

Mouthfeel: Just shy of medium bodied, a little highly carbonated but not too foamy or fizzy; lighter than expected for an IPA, but it works well with a lot of the bold flavors. Big drying finish and well-hidden alcohol, lingering floral and pine notes on the back of the tongue.

Overall: A totally worthy American IPA, one I could drink very regularly. Nice complexity of flavors, but not overwhelming. I would dare to call this sessionable. Hopheads rejoice.

A-pours a golden copper color with white sudsy head with pretty nice retention
S-lots of pine and resin, some subtle malt in the background
T-more pine with some citrus notes in the finish, the malt provides a nice balance but does not lend much to the flavor
M-medium bodied
O-really nice and well balanced IPA. It isn't out of this world but definitely nails the style.
