Review from BeerAdvocate Magazine April 2007.
Cheers to Bruce Scott for the win with his Lager. It's great to see a Lager win in any competition because the style seldom gets the respect it deserves (unless you attend our Night of the Lagers @ American Beer Fest on June 15).
A quick-to-drop white head leaves a bubbly lace in its wake, which, surprisingly, puts a few rings on the glass, showing that it actually does have good head retention. Slight haze with a pale golden color. Hoppy aroma of fresh-cut grass, white tea and lemon essence. Some pale maltiness in the nose as well. Refreshingly smooth crispness off of a moderate body. Clean, malty palate; grainy up front with a mild, doughy biscuit flavor middle to end. Hops come in with a sharp bitterness to set things straight, and slowly leave with a light tea and spicy herbal flavor. Clean for the most part, with a touch of nutty yeast in the middle. Finishes a bit grainy and semi-dry.
Other than the clarity, this beer ended up being quite the stellar Lager. Crisp, clean, and refreshing--what else is there to ask for? Oh yeah, and it's flavorful. Pair this one with a pot of Edam and Swiss cheese fondue and an array of sausages.

bread like smells, which completely dominated the entire profile from the first moment you took a whiff of it. This was not a bad thing in fact it was kinda what I would be looking for in the style and it really came off with the aroma of a classic German lager. big-time bready and malt heavy lager this just did not mess around and came right at you. Nice light profile that was just full of bready grains and a bit of an earthy sort of twang

This was the first Longshot I ever had (4-2008). A friend that I worked with had gotta a six pack of them that year and brought me a bottle to try. This brew has all the elements of a Czech/German/Polish Pilsner. It's got a light color with a white head, the traditional lager flavors are all there. Has a natural earthy backbone to it too. It wasn't the my favorite but it wasn't bad either.

This review is also from old notes in my travel journal. Retired beer.
Gold in color and sparklingly clear. Light white foam head and moderate to light prickle. The nose has all sorts of things going on with some grain hints linked together with a malty presence and the subtle aroma of hops. The attack is grain heavy. The flavor starts and ends with grain tones and is only interrupted by a quick burst of hops in the middle.

A thin white head adorns a crystal-clear golden beer. The aroma is of fruity, flowery hops, light malt and perhaps cereal. It's medium bodied with a chalky afterfeel. It starts slightly sweet and finishes fairly bitter and almost salty. It has a pretty long aftertaste. Reminds me of malt liquor. Not really my thing.

this is a solid brew. a nice golden color it smells lightly sweet. think honey and a touch of floral hops. taste is similar. honey sweetness, straw and a touch of alcohol minus the burn. crisp. simple. clean. i could have a few as i find it pretty enjoyable. good effort.

Poured from bottle into pilsner glass.
A: Pours a pale yellow with good carbonation producing a 1/2 inch white head that slowly dissipates.
S: Nice malt and hop balance in the aroma. Crisp bite on the nose.
T: As indicated by the smell, a well balanced beer. Slightly more malt coming through. Very clean, light, and refreshing. Herbal notes.
M: Light body. Nice sweet aftertaste.
D: With the lack of complexity, better paired with food than on its own. But still very drinkable and refreshing. Hat's off to the Longshot brews...keep 'em coming!
