Poured a 355-ml bottle into a pint glass.
Appearance - dark amber colour with an off-white head. Head thins rapidly to a 1/8-inch with a little extra foam here and there. Slight lace around the edge.
Smell - bright caramel-toffee aromas over a nice roasted barley base, with a little cream and butterscotch to boot. Very good.
Taste - outstanding balance and smooth, even flavour throughout. Very good barley flavour with just a touch of hop bitterness at the end although slight.
Mouthfeel - smooth as silk and one would not expect the extra 5.5% alcohol. A great malty finish to follow up the smoothness.
Drinkability - not hard to put more than a few of these away, a very high quality brew for a reasonable price.
