2007 Vintage. Thanks to Matthias on this one.

This may be coming up on four years, but it's lookin' nice still. Real smooth feel, though the carbonation is slightly more aggressive than I would have guessed after as much time. Mature and multi-faceted flavor tones. Real easy drinker. Definitely could have dealt with having more of this one.

Vintage 2007.

Pours pitch black, with a one finger thick head, really creamy and thick, mocha-coloured, beautitul. Leaves alot of creamy wet looking lacing after while as it receeds down to a lid on the liquid.

The smell is mellow and mature, with heavy but soft roasted malts hinting at burnt wood and chocolate, both bitter dark chocolate and milk chocolate, with fruity notes in the back, earthy fresh berries, as well as a little plum and dried peach. I also get a little fruity-fudge, some wet linen cloth and a milky sort of vanilla, sublime.

Starts of with velvety chocolate, soft roasted coffee and continues in mid palate with an ever mellower chocolate, along with some light fruits, tinned pineapple, light fresh apples and an ever so light hint of raisins. Has a light tartness to it all the way, which makes it feel refreshing and light. Finishes up with a light bitterness, a bit disappointing finish to an otherwise pehomenal brew.

Mouthfeel is incredibly smooth, I dont think I've ever had anything this silky and soft on the toungue, truly luxurious mouthfeel with an exquisitely well done carbonation.

Extra from BA ricke, thank you! 2007 vintage.

A very fine looking beer, about as good as force carbed gets. Big pillows of chocolate foam with great legs and great retention. A medium dark brown color.

Aroma and flavor: subdued hopping rates give way to tasteful and subtle malts. Lots of carmel malt, which sort of dominates over the chocolate malts too much. Mild tartness and mild esters, no American or British ale esters though. These are more along the lines of a German ale. Some toffee and chocolate flavors linger in the aftertaste along with faint hop bitterness. Enjoyable, but I prefer less toffee.

Average mouthfeel; I like the light carbonation and it has good attenuation, but I think the water softness is bringing it down a bit.

Drinkability is good, I'm glad I got the opportunity but would buy because of superior porters available from other breweries around here.

A: Dark brown with a beige creamy head that settles kind of quickly but leaves nice lacings.

S: Quite an impressive smell. Smooth dark malts with a huge amount of dark chocolate. Notes of coffee and perhaps a minimal hop note. Judging by the smell, it's almost hard to believe that this one is not brewed with coffee. Not very complex, but it's a really pleasant smell.

T: The taste is good as well and mimics the smell. Dark and somewhat sweet malts with a gentle roasted character. A hint of spices and lots of dark chocolate, but the chocolate is not as powerful as in the smell. The coffee is more pronounced, though. Not many fruity flavors in this one. The finish is not a letdown, but it's not as impressing as the rest of the taste. It's a bit short with a minimal bitterness, wood, a faint hint of hops and lingering cocoa flavors.

M: Medium body and reasonably smooth texture. Unfortunately the mouthfeel is a bit dull and lifeless.

D: If this one had had a bigger body, this one would have been a great porter. And if the finish had been more powerful, it would have been even better. For now, it's just good. I was really impressed by the chocolate character is displayed. A well crafted beer.

Mondiale 2009. Very chocolate porter, chocolate aroma, medium mouthfeel. Dark with some off-white head, and lace. Well carbonated. Bitterness, roastiness, licorice and coffee, that is all very malted away and making for very good porter.Like this brewery.

Vintage 2007.

The beer creates some fizzing sounds while being poured. The colour is jet black; the two finger head is warm brown and compact. Some lacing occurs.

The strong smell is malty and a bit dense. Sour yeasty flavours blends with heavily roasted malts (coffee, nuts, cocoa, pumpernickel...).

The taste is less sour: The malts dominates: Roasted notes of black coffee, black bread and dark chocolate are complemented with a fruity touch and clean bitter flavours plus a dry hoppy finish that also adds some herbs and a touch of cream - just like eating a chocolate cake! Although the flavours are very roasted, there are no smoky flavours here.

The carbonation is medium strong, the small bubbles are soft. The liquid is oh-so-smooth.

This is a solid English porter that seems to have gained a lot from the maturing.

Vintage 2007

A: A pitch black liquid with a massive light brown head, which leaves some lacing as it slowly recedes. I guess this is pretty close to perfection.

S: Coffee, dark chocolate, rye bread and - of course - a lot of malty flavours.

T: Follows the smell, but also some hops. Perhaps a little to light. Still, a very good beer.

M: Watery in a gulpable way. In general, that's something that I like. But it's also a little flat.

D: A very good beer. But it is way to expensive.
