The color is brownish to red and quite dark. The one finger head fades to a thick sand-colored lid.

The smell is full of dark dryed fruits, figs, raisins, brown sugar... I also get hints of something dry, hazel nuts I think, but it's very vage. There's also hints of meadow and some alcohol.

The taste is just fantastic if you let the beer warm up a bit. It's an explotion of figs, brown sugar, sweet apples, maple syrup and unfortunately some alcohol. But this composition of flavours is still worthy of the top grade I gave it.

The mouthfeel is warm, smooth, oily and with low carbonation.

Since the ABV is at 9,1% I can't see myself drinking too many of those. The 250 ml bottle it comes in is just about enough.

This beer comes in a 25 cl brown long-necked, slim bottle, with a light brown label with the silhouette of a man rowing a boat.

A: This beer is beautiful cloudy copper-colored. The head is thick and creamy, but small.

S: The smell is malty, sweet caramell. There are lots of dark dried fruits in the smell, raisins, figs and so on. Reminds me of a really nice Port.

T: Sweet malt together with dark dried fruits, like the smell. Some nice English floral as well as bitter hops are obvious. Some marzipan as well. It reminds me of exclusive sweets.

M: Body is very full and creamy. Carbonation is very mild. Aftertaste is long and at first sweet and bitter, but after a little while, only bitter - nice!

D: This is a really nice Barley Wine. I got me quite some bottles - the rest are at rest in my beer cellar. I just can't wait to see how they will evolve.

Pours a slightly hazy copper with a moderate creamy ehad that dies down pretty quick.

Smells fantastic with huge port and dried figs, some darker fruits as well, prunes and golden raisins. A very mature nose actually, with multiple layers and a suggested sweetness under it all.

Lighter than expected taste, and not as sweet as the nose hinted. The fruits are here, figs, prunes and raisins as well as some apple, carramellized apple with syrup and clarified butter. It all balances out with notes of red dessert wine, mainly port, but not as strong a prescense as in the nose, but still, it contributes with a very comfortable warmth in combination with the alcohol in the back. Finishes almost like fruit candy. The brew has a very mellow and moderate feel to it, which doesnt make it overpowering or sticky, while it really helps to bring out the different components of the experience, really subtle and balanced.

Suitably viscous mouthfeel, with a moderate to light carbonation that fits well.

Small beige head, deep red/copper colour, lacing and the liquid is a bitt cloudy. Aroma is distinctly fruity, and hops is clearly present, honey, jam alcohol and dark fruit. Flavour is sweet but also with a nice bitterness to it, alcohol is present without being overwhelming. Mouthfeel is rather lively, with plenty of small bubbles, the liquid is sticky. Once again nynäshamn impresses!

Thanks to baggio for this bottle.

50cl bottle poured into snifters.

A = Dark reddish maple color, small light tan head which quickly settles into a foam covering on perhaps 80% of the surface.

S = Good smalls of maple syrup, fresh turned dirt, very subdued citrus fruit with also some raisins and plums.

T = Dark fruits including plums, raisins, prunes, pipe tobacco, leather, light balancing bitterness with a hint of lemon zest, quite sweet but with a long finish that gets dryer as it goes on. Well balanced.

M = Full bodied, excellent mouthcoating, luscious feeling in mouth, creamy and smooth.

D = Not one to drink quickly, but it is not hard to keep going and I could happily drink this on other occasions.

Nynäshamn is really good brewer, but to be frank I haven't tried very many beers from them. This is my third beer anyway, and it's really good!

The beer pours a deep amber color with a tiny beige head that dissapears after a little while.

Aroma is quite vinous with lots of hops and dried fruits. Slightly aged smell in a way.

Taste is quite amazing! Lots of vinous notes with a very malty background. The English-style hops remind themselves aswell. The bitterness from the hops can be felt all the way to the back of the mouth, excellent!

A really good barley wine, but a bit expensive.

Bottled as Bötet Barley Wine. Moves my rating from Nynäshamns Barley Wine to this one...

Pours a nice deep red color with a small white foamy head, leaving some lacing on the glass.

Smell is nice and malty. Lots of caramel and dried fruits. Very fruity-aleish in a english-styled way. A bit vinous. Seems interesting!

Taste is sweet, malty with notes of dried fruits, toffee/caramel and liquorice. A bit "peppery" and spicey with warming alcohol. Very nice.

Mouthfeel is very nice and filling. Liquid is very smooth, the carbonation is low and the beer seems very fullbodied. A bit oily.

This is a very nice sipper and Nynäshamn doesn't dissapoint. Good! Very malty and english in the style - perfect when you want something else than the more regular american "hop bomb"!

The colour is brown; the thick head sinks slowly to finger thick lid, leaving massive amounts of lacing.

The smell is sweet and matured with notes of raisins, nuts, alcohol, marzipan and caramel. A little rough for the style, I think.

The taste is very sweet with lots of nuts, almonds, marzipan and a quickly passing flavour of sharp alcohol and paint. There is a slight bitter flavour as well as notes of raisins and dried green apples. The body is medium - surprisingly low for a beer of this strength. The aftertaste is dry with warming notes of alcohol, raisins, some bitterness, fruity flavours and a hint of spices.

The carbonation is mild, the small bubbles are fresh. The liquid is smooth, almost a little sticky.

Barleywine is not really my favourite style, but I still experienced this one as a little rough and unbalanced. I will probably cellar the other bottles for a year or two; hopefully it will be more balanced then.
