An ale "inspired by recipes of holiday brews from the old ages". It is spiced with nutmeg, caraway, cloves, vanilla and fresh orange peels.

A dark brown beer with a beige foam, leaving quite some lacing.

Smelling of malts, a hint of caramel, orange. and a bit sweet, dried raisins.

The taste has a good balance between sweet and bitter. Caramel notes with a good hoppy taste and cinnamon.

Rather pleasant to drink, small bubbles.

A good/average winter ale.

Pours a dark reddish brown with fine, tan head.

Smell is spicy and malty with notes of rye, citrus, cinnamon, nutmeg and a hint of smoked ham.

Taste is rich and malty, and very spicy. The cinnamon and nutmeg notes are a little bit too powerful, and overshadow the more subtle nuances, like rye and a soft maltiness.

Mouthfeel is medium, smooth and well carbonated.

Overall, a nice spiced beer that could ease up a little bit on the spices.

Heavy and fragrant aroma. The taste, however, is a little thin, unfortunately.

Dark and wintery. Distinct herbal edge which adds interest. Quite nice. Liking the almost liquorice note. Not as malty as it could be.

Whoo hoo! Random $&#^ from Sweden, in a style that I don't like. How could this not be awesome?

A - Dark reddish brown, small off-white head. That's about it, it didn't stick around for long and left nothing on the sides.

S - A little citrus, some nutmeg, other random Christmas spices, caramel, fruit cake. Pretty sure when they decided to make this beer the conversation went something like this:

"What should we put in this beer?"
"Whatever we have left in whatever quantities we have left."

T - Hodgepodge of Christmas beer and spiced flavors. Pick one out and it's probably there in some form. Caramel malts are particularly strong as well as all the other stuff in there.

M - Medium bodied, lower carbonation, dry finish.

O - Not the worst beer on the day, actually might have been one of the better of the bad beers, but it was still bad.

I'm assuming this somehow came from bosse, but in any case - thanks to Mike for another fabulous Christmas beer. It's really too bad Nate couldn't make it to share this gem. Served in a Russian River tulip.

A - A quick-dissolving white foam sizzles to nothing - no lace, collar, wisps, cap, etc. Dark red-brown-black transparent body.

S - Apples, spices, treacle, cola, sweet leaf, orange peel.

T - This is a quintessential Yule beer - reminds me of spiced Christmas cake, with notes of cola.

M - Gritty medium body with zesty active carbonation. No alcohol, so obviously not a true Winter Warmer.

D - Just not very good at all. Way too much spice, and a truly unpleasant mouthfeel. If you love Christmas cake then perhaps this will be up your alley. I could barely get down a few ounces before giving up.

2010 vintage

Pours a small layer of beige head. Color is a darker copper amber.

Aroma: Nutmeg, vanilla, orange peel, and a ton of other spices mixed in. I also get a huge bazooka joe bubble gum. A bit of caramel and malt show through the spices.

Taste: Massive dry spice attack. Orange peel, cinnamon, nutmeg, etc. Very malty as well. There is a mint flavor mixed in as well.

Mouthfeel: Dry and spiced. Medium bodied with a medium amount of carbonation. Ends with more dryness and more spices.

Overall, I wasn't a fan of this because it was too spiced for me. It needs to be toned down a bit. It wasn't undrinkable, just not too enjoyable.

Bottle. 2010 version. Poured into a tulip glass a very dark copper brown orange color with a light tan head that soon collars around the glass. The spices and aromatics used are very evident right off the bat with notes like; orange, bubblegum, and slight vanilla I guess. Medium mouthfeel with some carbonation. The flavors are decent and does remind me of the holiday fruitcake my mom used to make. Both sweet caramel with some spices. The bubblegum flavor that I smelled also comes out in the taste. Some orange flavors as well. Some minimal bitterness in the end.

A:Dark brown liquid with light brown creamy head.

S: Sweet, spices, some dried fruits some roast notes. A buttery feeling to the nose.

T: Roasted malt, burnt sugar, caramel, spices (cinnamon, and the stuff that you but in the oranges). Aftertaste is a round taste of spices.

Overall: Nice mouthfeel and drinkabilty makes this beer a really good one.

A: The pour is dark brown with a reddish tone. The off-white head is a bit uneven and rather large. After a short while it starts to dissipate, leaving some lacings.

S: Roasted sweet malt, very well balanced. Lots of spices and both bitter and floral hops. Oranges.

T: Roasted malt, both sweet and dry at the same time. Both bitter and floral hops. Lots of spices, for exampel nutmeg. Both bananas and oranges.

M: The aftertaste is rather short but holds a nice dry bitterness. The body is surprisingly thin and the carbonation is medium.

D: An interesting spiced winter (warmer?) ale. But the body and aftertaste are to weak for my taste. There are lots of better beers made at Nynäshamn and there are lots of better swedish winter/christmas beers available in Sweden at a cheaper price.

Appearance: Mysingen Midvinterbrygd pours a opaque brown/black-to-insidously toned vermillion along with a one inch tall beige crown consisting of bubbles in various sizes, from XS to XXXL, that dimishes rather quickly.

Smell: A mild aroma of burnt malt along with notes of citrus fruits. I find it a bit "thin" in this area, not that it's bad in any way, moreso that it all too anonymous, to put it simply - mild.

Taste: Burnt malt, a very dominant bitterness with a powerful toffee flavour and a touch of dried cinnamom in the aftertaste.

Mouthfeel: Creamy, rather full and low in carbonation.

Drinkability: Mysingen Midvinterbrygd bears some of the typical characteristics of a yule/blot-brew: the burnt sensations, the sweet caramel and the seasonal spices. However, this year around, I didn't find it quite as convincing as I've found it to be in past years and mainly so due to how "thin" the overall experience felt. Still good tough!

Black-red colour with an almost grey head. Little lacing.

Excellent spicy smell of nutmeg, cloves and coffee.

Pleasant roasted taste of coffee and christmas spices.

Long, rather heavy after taste with balanced burnt flavours and bitterness.

Very drinkable! Another good seasonal from Nynäshamn. Thank you! Always nice with a christmas beer that tastes of christmas.
