Patina Pale is our flagship hop forward pale ale. We start with a blend of base malts in the mash tun, then add copious amounts of American hops in the kettle followed by even more in the form of dry hopping. The result is a very citrusy, slightly piney ale with a crisp malt background and just enough bitterness to balance it all out.

Poured from a can into a pint glass. Pours orange yellow with a small white head. Smells of fresh citrus. Tastes of fresh citrus and grassy hops, nice and full. Beer is light bodied and easy drinking, good carbonation. Overall, a very good beer.

8oz pour at brewery. Bright yellow/golden, skin of head, lots of lacing. Fruity aroma, guava. Taste brings some citrus zestiness, light fruity flavors behind, a little citrus, a little tropical. Dry finish.

Patina Pale
PALE ALE
Austin Street Brewery Pale Ale American
A very light and clean Pale Ale with golden grainy crisp malt bits and subtle, but effective piney, slightly citrus and tangy hops. A clean crispness that gets very smooth and then finishes dry.

I received this beer in a Christmas gift pack and got the chance to visit the taproom last week in Portland. The New England Pale Ale style is slowly surpassing the bigger brother NEIPA as my favorite beer style. This one in particular tastes almost identical to a juicy hoppy 8% IPA, but has a more manageable 5.3% abv. It’s a beautiful hazy tangerine orange color with similar citrus notes on the nose. Drinking this is smooth and easy. All of the tropical taste of a NEIPA without the sludge smoothie fillingness or heavy alcohol content that’ll put you on Mars. This is a sessionable, smooth drinking, social beer. Great for watching a game or casually hanging with friends. Had the Island Pacer session IPA at the brewery and gave a similar experience with even lower alcohol content. Both well done beers!

Very sessionable and crushable ale. Fine piney hops with tangerine fruit on top. Medium mouthfeel, steady foam head and pleasant aftertaste. Good to replace a rice lager for a super bowl eve.

From a 16 oz. can dated 05/03/22. Sampled May 26, 2022.
The appearance is a cloudy yellow with a fizzy white head. Semi-opaque. Lacing.
Aroma of tropical fruits and citrus and maybe even a little pine. Guava. Melon. Low profile cereal grain.
Smooth medium mouthfeel.
Flavor of sweet grains followed more abruptly by pine and tropical hop characters. Mild to moderate fruity bitterness to finish. Lingers briefly.

A: The beer is rather hazy yellow in color. It poured with a quarter finger high white head that left a thin collar around the edge, a film of bubbles covering the surface and some lacing down the sides of the glass.
S: Moderate aromas of citrusy hops are present in the nose - orange seems to stand out in particular.
T: The taste follows the smell but has additional hints of piney hops towards the finish. There is a light to moderate amount of bitterness.
M: It feels light- to medium-bodied and crisp on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This pale ale is easy to drink and has enough hops to keep things interesting.
