Pours brown with an interesting hint of amber to red. Solid head and good lacing. Smell is spicy and hoppy. Flavor is excellent with a load of rye on the front end and a spicy hop flavor lingering nicely on the back end. Very well balanced and enjoyable brew. Wish this one will get made more regularly.

First had: on tap at Victory
Clear, light copper pour with a fizzy white head; retained as a small collar, minimal lacing. Aroma of toasted grains, pale malts, light citrusy hops. The taste was similar, toasted bread, nice rye profile, light malt sweetness, and crisp citrusy hops bringing in a solid and non-overbearing bitterness. Light-medium body, moderate carbonation, higher ABV barely detectable, making for easy drinkability. Not an overly distinctive beer in the grand scheme of things, but in and of itself, a very solid brew that's very good for a casual session.

On tap @ the VBC. Pours copper with a bright-white head. Creamy looking retention with a thick sticky lacing that rings the sides. Smells sticky and tangy with sweet caramel, lightly toasted bread and citrus flavors. Plenty of rye here with a light spicy character that mingles with the more floral notes here. The taste is similar with a rich twang to it from a mix of caramel, ripe green citrus and the rye, which adds a spicy doughiness that runs throughout. A crisp citric bitterness gives this some firmness on the plate, as this finishes spicy, bitter and dry. The feel is medium bodied with a crisp feel and some underlying slickness that helps make this work. Just a touch of warmth here from the ABV. This was nice, being a hoppy American Amber with a healthy dose of rye added in. Good balance of flavor here with a crisp and quenching feel overall despite the somewhat higher alcohol.
