On-tap at Beachwood BBQ,

A: Pours a golden amber with a finger of white head, leaving some Belgian lace,

S: Classic Belgium. Heavy fermented pear, yellow apples, yeast esters, nice.

T: Rather light and thin flavour. Tasty, but missing something. Sourdough bread type malt flavours with a hint of esters. A bit too hoppy for the style.

M: The body's too light, after the mid-palate the beer ends and that's it. Thin.

D: This is an average representation of the style for me. The Belgian character is passable at best. The nose is the best part of this ale. I'm a big fan of Victory, but this effort isn't cutting the Dijon.

Appears a transparent amber with some ruby highlights around the edges. The foamy, off-white head slowly fades into a mild cap. Lots of scattered bits of lacing are left around the glass.
Smell is of earth notes, along with a touch of caramel, and spicy, herbal hops.
Taste is of the aromas with gentle, delicate flavors of caramel, fresh bread, mild fruit, and spicing. A bit one dimensional but I think they were trying to keep this simple.
Mouthfeel is medium bodied, spritzy, and faintly spicy.

My 1100th review

I picked up this growler to share at a community brew day in York PA - poured chilled into a tulip

A -A brilliant amber/deep copper hued beer w/ great clarity and thick cream head w/ tiny beading

S - A malty nose w/ slightly spicey and mild mineral yeast odors w/ caramel hints and mild nutty aroma

M - The feel is balanced between the hops and malt with a dry yeasty texture and mild spice from the hops in the finish

T - A grainy malt flavor is accented with biscuit notes and mild peppery spiced elements w/ pine tinges from the hops, very malty up to the finish w/ twiggy dry character and mild german toasted malt flavor w/ mild spice from the yeast and herbal leafy hops from mid taste on to the end. The yeast gives a mild green banana w/ a spiced semi-bitter finish

D - The drinkability is probably the best quality of the beer - moderate abv allows you to have several in the course of the session with plenty of flavor to keep you coming back. he brewday made it easy for us to finish the growler while sharing other homebrews.

I had a few of these at Victory Brewery and Restaurant is Dowingtown, PA and I brought a grower home. I poured it into a pint glass.
Appearance: The body is a clear amber color. The head is a few fingers tall, eggshell is color, great retention and thin but abundant lacing.
Smell: The aromas are yeasty, pine and earth scents.
Taste: The flavors are estery, Belgian yeast and mellow alcohol.
Mouthfeel: This beer has a medium body with a crisp mouthfeel.
Drinkability: This beer is very good.
Don't drink and review.

Had this on tap at the brewery on 12/29/09( with some Trice Fries). Light orange with off white head. Hop and spice notes a bit of banana. Bitter hop taste with some spice. Medium body with high carbonation. Bitter hop finish. Not my favorite from Victory but solid.

Sixtel purchased by my friend at Victory for our new years eve party. The identifying paper sleeve on top of the sixtel reads: limited release Abbey 5

It pours a very clear orange color with a thick cap of yellow stained head with very good retension. Serious amount of lacing all over the glassware. Nose is a blend of hops, grain and a little bit of clove. Taste is slightly grainy but mostly dominated by hop bitterness. The finish is quite crisp. Medium to high amount of carb with a thin feel. Overall it isn't bad but the bitterness makes it seem unbalanced.
