This wheat beer pours out as a hazy orange yellow color. The aromas have some lemon grass in there along with some fresh cut wheat and yeast. The taste isnt too bad the citrus from the hops come forward and then The wheat nellies the whole thing out in the aftertaste. This beer is great for the summer, it's light body and smooth texture on the tongue gives off some a refreshed feeling in your mouth. It's notmmymfavorite wheat beer but it could be much worse.

[Best served in a Weizen glass]

Poured a medium DEEP yellow with a small white fizzy head that was fully diminishing and had fair lacing. the aroma was heavy of wheat and grain malts, leathery yeasty with a nice hint of citrus hops and notes of banana. It tasted quite yeasty and mildly bitter from beginning to end with the finish having a nice yeasty/citrus aftertaste. Mouthfeel was light in body and watery in texture with a strong fizzy carbonation. Overall a nice refreshing brew that is very drinkable, but very light.

12 oz bottle at 42 degrees into a Franziskaner Weizen glass.

A: I should preface this by saying that Hefeweizens in a weizen glass is the greatest looking beer in the world to me. That being said, this one falls short. The pour is a hazy golden color with a billowing two finger head that dissipates quickly and does not lace very well.

S: Very peppery yeast, lemon, strong doughy bread notes, and a little banana.

T: Lemon, graham cracker, honey, and peppery yeast (which is quite subdued compared to the smell).

M: It has a medium-light body with some prickly carbonation but a mostly clean finish.

D: This is solid drinking and the best American hefeweizen I've had thus far.

A - A clear golden color. Lots of head retention. Very nice.

S - Wonderful. Lemon, wheat. Strong aromas. Exactly what you expect in a good Hefe.

T - I am not a huge wheat beer/Hefeweizen fan. However, Victory has sold me on this one. Very mild flavors of lemon, wheat.

M - Very smooth. Nice carbonation and light bodied.

D - As good as this style gets in my opinion. Poor another round!

Pours a hazy, golden straw color with a big foamy had that fades quickly leaving behind some light lacing. Lemon scents are the first thing that hits my nose, along with some clove and banana notes. Everything in the nose is detected in the taste (more clove and citrus than banana), but magnified - also get some nice bready / yeast flavors in the finish. Really flavorful American Hefe. Light bodied, moderate carbonation, extremely refreshing and drinkable.

A- Pale slightly hazy straw yellow with a huge creamy white head that has great retention. Pretty nice spots of lace coat the glass from a foamy pillow.

S- Notes of clove and banana atop a bready/wheat, light malt base. Good overall strength. Slight barnyard funk(hmm).

T- A lighter end, balanced flavor with all of the above. Clove, banana and straw come to mind first. Certainly some yeast influence and wheat in the finish. Some hops in the finish as well as apple.

MF- Hugely carbonated light body that has a nice creamy feel to it. Very slight bitterness.

DB- Really has a better flavor than I was expecting from an American Hefeweizen. Drinks easily and has a balanced flavor.

Clear (with a slight chill haze) light golden color with HUGE fluffy white head. It took a few pours to get the whole thing in the glass. I expect my hefeweizens to be a bit hazy.

Beautiful coriander, clove, lemon, and spice. This is the epitome of hefeweizen aroma!

Tart lemon right up front with the classic coriander an clove. Slight earthy hop bitterness with nice floral characteristics. This is a nice blend of modern and classic styles.

There is a nice solid carbonation with a moderate mouthfeel.

This is a fantastic beer. The aromas are spot on for the classic style and the flavors add a nice American flare. I think I like the whirlwind wit a bit more than this one, but I'll be sure to pick this one up again next year when it's back in season.

Pours a cloudy yellow with a foamy white head. Some lace, tons of bubbles.

Yeast, wheat, some candied/bubblegum/tropical fruit notes. Strength is the issue. Light scented.

Sweet wheat, yeast, dusty husk, some fruity notes, some white pepper spice. Decent.

Lighter bodied and a bit thinner than I'd like. On the verge of being watery.

Decent drinkability. I liked it though there are plenty better. Mild complexity, meaning it is there, just mild form. That holds this one back. Still, very very decent.

Pours a hazy yellow straw color with a nice white head. A fair amount of lacing as it goes down. Nose is clove, banana, and some citrus. Maybe a hint of pepper. Taste is a bit sweet and fruity with a bit of spice. Nice, light and cremy feel with good carbonation levels. Overall, a very nice summer beer.

A: Cloudy, banana-yellow in color, mucho carbonation, and massive head. Whoa!

S: Tangy wheat scent with upfront Victory taste profile.

T: Refreshing, mildly spiced concoction, with a smooth finish. It can almost taste bubble gum in the aftertaste - but that is probably just my imagination.

M: Smooth, with a bit of unfiltered thickness, and tingly carbonation.

D: The 5.70% ABV is perfect. In my opinion, Victory makes some of the best session beers on the planet.

Poured into a hefe glass. Color was a straw amber color with a white 1 finger head. Small amount of cling, with a fair stream of constant carbonation rising from the bottom. Aroma was slightly sweet, slightly olivey, prevalent aroma was yeast. Tasted of yeast and banana. Felt a little off in the mouth, a tad watery, but just not quite right. Fairly easy to drink, and pleasant as well.

12 oz. Bright gold pour, finger or so of white head. Retention is not bad.

Spicy aroma, heavy clove. Light bready malt, barely a hint of citrus.

I really like this because the bannana is not overwhelming. Clove, nutmeg, ginger almost pumpkin ale like spices, with the lighter German Hefe tastes and body. The spice lingers in the finish.

Lively but smooth mouthfeel, goes down very easy. Slightly higher abv for a hefeweizen, but not noticeable at all. Maybe makes it less drinkable than others in the category just because it will inevitably effect you more.

I don't think you can go wrong with this one.

Poured from bottle into twenty ounce beer glass.. Pours pale yellow with about inch head.. Smells of banana and clove are present.. Pretty smooth for a somewhat strong beer. Goes down nice and easy on hot sunny days... Will buy again next year along with troegs dreamweaver...

A: Pours a pale golden color with a hazy appearance and some small particulates suspended in it.

S: There's a smell of honey and oranges with a definate yeast characteristic also.

T: While the smell tends towards the sweet side the taste is more on the dry end. There are flavors of spice and citrus...along with the same bready yeast flavor present in the aroma

M: Medium bodied with a reasonable amout of carbonation. Overall the feeling is crisp and refreshing.

D: Very high as this beer is a good example of the style and very enjoyable to drink. I wondered how it would compare to Whirlwind Wit and I must say I enjoy them both greatly.

Served in a Devil's Backbone weizen glass.

Any excuse to bust out my DB weizen glass is quickly embraced. This one pours a partially hazy pale straw topped by a mountain of white froth. The nose is your standard hefeweizen smell: banana, clove, orange peel, wheat, and a touch of flowers; nothing amiss here. The taste holds the same elements, plus a bit more orange-rind and floral bitterness. The body is light, with a moderate carbonation and a crisp finish. Overall, a nice little hefe, nothing mind-blowing, but tasty enough and very easy to drink.

Pours with a massive 4F full of frothy white head, over a fairly cloudy - but not opaque - dirty gold color. Tons of tiny bubbles floating up. Lacing is really nice.

Sweet spices, wheat, and citrus hop aroma. Not terribly strong, but good.

Prickly on the palate, with lemon, wheat crackers, and celery - lacked most of the clove-like spice characteristics of a good hefeweizen.

Good carbonation. Finishes dry, and pretty thin / watery for the style.

Fairly easy drinking, but again, the lack of some punch took away from the overall enjoyment.

Appearance - Bright yellow, active carbonation short even head. Vibrant and cloudy.

Smell - perfumy, almost piney.

Taste - spicy, strong clove flavor. Tastes almost like a Necco candy. Has a finish that makes your mouth water.

Mouthfeel - This beer has a texture on the thinner side. It produces a zing in your mouth that lasts throughout.

Drinkability - Not having a lot of experience with this style of beer, it is hard to say how it measures up to other Weiss bier. This one is pleasant enough and I enjoy the effervescence. The spice is in the forefront of its flavor but the rest of the body of the beer seems to complement it well.

S: Orange and coriander. Wait, this is a hefeweizen? No, it's not, at least not from the aromas I'm getting; no banana or clove, which is usually found in hefes.

T: Yes, I don't think this can be categorized as a hefe. It's a wheat beer, yes, but it's more of the "Witbier" style as opposed to the German Hefe. Spicy citrus twang with that familiar coriander bite and a somewhat peppery finish. That's not the normal description of a hefeweizen. This one reminded me of Hogaarden, and also Whirlwind, and then I realized Whirlwind is MADE by Victory. Is this whirlwind in a different bottle. Seems very similar.

M: Somewhat thick, but also slightly watered down, at least in comparison to Hogaarden and other top of the line witbiers. Still, it's very good; as for American interpretations of Witbiers, this one is near the top along with Whirlwind.

D: I used to be able to drink Hoegaarden's like water. This one would also fall into that category, most likely. But I get bored of this after 3 or 4, so drinkability is relatively high, but it also can be tiresome after a moderate amount. Definitely not disappointed and will have this again, but won't bend over backwards to get it.

Grabbed a bottle of this at Ninety9 Bottles as part of a pick 6 - one of the best hefeweizen's I've had in a long while.

Pale yellow, hazy, pretty standard looking hefeweizen. Head is bright full white and lingers nicely throughout. No real lacing that I noticed. Smell is light, but includes some citrus fruit, and maybe a bit of banana.

Taste is lightly citrus, banana, wheat. Really enjoyable hefe, not as strong in the banana realm as some germans, but its quite good. Medium body, very smooth. Goes down easy, no guess at its fairly high ABV.

A - Pale yellow color with large white head. Bubbly.

S - Fresh hay and grass and wheat. Spice notes.

T - As it tastes. A bit more hoppiness than I expected. Pleasant.

Pours a cloudy golden yellow with a thin white head that disappears quickly leaving almost no lacing.

Aroma consists of generous wheat, banana, and clove; very traditional of the style.

The immediate flavor is citrus, likely lemon, followed by clove, and wheat and as the beer warms banana begins to appear.

This Hefe is medium in body and light in carbonation and quite crisp.

Quite refreshing and a great example of the style, this is another winner from Victory.

A: Superior Milky head with a clouds golden color. Text book Hefeweizen. I just love seeing that collection of sediment at the bottom of the bottle.
S: Sweet Malty, wheat and bread.
T: Nice wheat malt flavor covers your tongue and you get a slight hint of a citrusy sweetness as well.
DM: Good carbonation, very nice and silky. Refreshing beer, great for summer.

Pours a hazy, light straw-orange with a very effervescent and big head that dissipates pretty quickly. Lacing is okay, retention is average.

Aroma is very yeasty, and almost too-much so: I get a lot of phenolic, bready notes as opposed to the fruity esters most Hefes seem to have.

Flavor is top-notch. This is an excellent American-made hefeweizen loaded with sweet bready malt and fruity, banana-like flavors. Very authentic tasting. Aftertaste is bready and yeasty, with a tiny touch of bitterness. Mouthfeel was effervescent and light, but lacked some creaminess. High carbonation, but also high drinkability. This goes down real easy. It's a joy to pour one and a half or two bottles into a big Weizen glass and quaff away.

Victory makes excellent German stylings, and Sunrise Weissbier is no exception.
