A couple of pints from a fresh growler into a Victory glass.
A- sunrise looks like liquid honey with a nice mix of bright gold mixed with hazy orange. It looks gorgeous under some light, cant really see through it. A nice frothy white foam that fades leaving no lace.
S- A big blast of ripe bananers and spices mainly clove. Some wheat and yeast plus some earthy hops. A low dose of mild malts. Pretty much everything you need in a hefe.
T- The smell pretty much sums this up but this is one good tasting fresh hefe. Fresh ripe bananers straight off the vine. After that the spices come in with cloves up front. Than a small taste of sweet sugar or candy. This is backed by yeast and light malts.
M- A light bodied beer perfect for the summer. Sunrise has a nice carb going for it and that's fine by me, makes it much smoother than other versions i've had. A sweet aftertaste with more bananers.
D- At 5.7%% a few would suffice. I wish I would pick this up more often, but since hefe's are not my thing I thought a few would do. I would gladly pick up a case of this for a party, a excellent summer quaff.

Growler poured into a Victory Tulip.
A - Pours a slightly hazy gold with a thin white head that leaves a slight ring and haze.
S - Big wheat aromas, lots of banana and clove with a touch of sweet bubblegum.
T - Follows the nose nicely, the clove really starts to pop in the finish as this warms up slightly. Nice and balanced.
M - Crisp, with a medium-thin body and sharp carbonation.
O - Incredibly drinkable, this was a great Summer session beer that disappeared quickly!

Thanks again to Centennial for the growler as part of the Locals BIF. This is probably my third glass or so out of it, and it still pops with an aggressive hiss. Love the art on the glass as well.
Pours a golden yellow with a slight haze. Plenty of carbonation bubbles slowly making their way to the top, where sits a frothy white head. Not quite as cloudy as I anticipated, but I also don't see a whole lot of sediment floating around either.
Smells of banana and spice with a touch of wheat, although a bit restrained. Not as a robust as a Bavarian Hefe, but still a pleasant and pleasing aroma.
Taste matches the nose well. Traditional Hefe flavors, though a bit conservative: banana, lemon zest, clove and substantial wheat. Still a very refreshing summer brew.
Slightly creamy texture, matched by an appropriate medium body. Probably this beers best quality. Again, an astounding summer beer.
Overall, not the best Hefe I've ever had, but definitely enjoyable. Always love to try new brews from Victory. Cheers!

A nice brew. Head is a decent, maybe a little small but the color is straw gold and cloudy. Bits of lace. Nose has all the usual suspects with excellent banana, clove, and lemon. Taste has the added elements of cinnamon and pepper. Good wheat malt core in the body. Mild hops and lovely banana in lingering in the finish. Dry crisp feel and moderate carbonation. Very drinkable and a good summer refresher. Not bad on this night in November as well.

Ok, so I'm with older daughter Caitlin at the Victory brewpub last weekend (06JUN09). I'm enjoying a small sampler of biers. Caitlin, not being legal (2 more months!) is reading the sescriptions of their biers... and loves what the Sunrise is described as... I have 2 growlers with me to fill... we finish eating, and I plan to get a growler of St. Boisterous, and another of Baltic Thunder. This produces lots of protestations.... after some haggling, I agree to get the 2nd growler filled with Sunrise. I suppose you could ring me up on buying for a minor. Have at it, chumps! ;-)
So here we are today, 14JUN09. Caitlin is home from her shift at the nursing home and says it's Sunrise time! Ok, let's go!! The growler still emits a nice "hiss" upon opening. Caitlin gets hers in a weissbier glass, while I get "stuck" with a stange. Oh well...
Color is pale straw and hazy. Carbo is strong and steady, helping maintain the creamy, fine white layer of bubbles topping the liquid. There's some lacing here, not a lot, but decent. Aroma is solidly in the Bayerisch banana/clove category, right where it should be. Body is right in the middle, and the feel on the tongue is fairly smooth, even with an airy, bubbliness present.
Flavor has a subtle sweetness, with a bit of crackery malt. Banana is predominant, yet never overpowering. Clove creeps in, and the wheat gives Sunrise a crisp dryness. There's also a bit of yeastiness present. Solidly Bavarian.... and an easy-drinker...
Zum Wohl!!

A: Hazy straw with huge head the recedes nicely with spotty lacing.
S: Banana, clove, citrus, and bready yeast flavors.
T: This is a clove bomb if there is one. Cloves dominate but there is a lot of lemon notes as well.
M: Creamy and smooth with a crisp, dry citrus finush.
D: There is a lot of flavor in this beer yet it is extremely easy to drink. A few ticks less on the ABV's and this would be a perfect on the drinkablility for me.

Served from a 68 oz German growler from the Victory brewpub. The beer poured a cloudy, yellow straw color with a nice thick white head. Nice carbonation. The aroma of this beer is pretty well dominated by the wheat smells and is complimented well by some citrus notes. The taste is more of the same with some very pleasant wheat taste for the summer and citrus which balances this out well and makes is very refreshing and light.

APPEARANCE:
A light gold color with a fluffy head that didn't hold up for too long. Quite brilliant and clear for a wiessbier
SMELL:
A sweet bread aroma comes forth, with a pronounced banana and hints of spice in the back.
TASTE:
Light bread upfront with a muted sweetness, followed by a bouquet of fruity notes of banana, lemon, citrus and pineapple, with a dash of some peppery spice. Finish is short and dry, leaving just a faint metallic bitterness in the palate
MOUTHFEEL:
Crisp and light bodied, with a lively carbonation that gives much of the texture
OVERALL:
A fruity and refreshing weissbier, with all the characteristic banana and clove flavors of a traditional Hefe. I was expecting a more substantial mouthfeel given it is unfiltered, but nonetheless the lightness works in this brew. Refreshing and easy to down, it's a perfect summer session thirst quencher.

Appearance: Hazy, yellow color with 1 finger of head that fades quickly and a lot of carbonation rising to the surface.
Aroma: Strong clove aroma over crisp wheat malt with a hint of banana.
Taste: Clean and refreshing with just a hint of spice. It starts out thin with the wheat malt taking center stage then gets spicier as it goes. It finishes with a lot of banana and touch of yeast that lingers a fair amount for a lighter beer.
The Rest: A solid, tasty wit; it checks all of the boxes of the style, and does it pretty well.

MMmmmm goood beer. Served with a nice, thick, foamy, frothy off white head that lasts a while and good lacing. Color is an almost clear yellow amber and lots of bubble trails. Aroma is a divine blend of malt, banana, spices, bubblegum, yeast. Flavor is classic Bavarian Weisse - malt, citrus, yeast, bit of sweet tart. Body is very good although still a little soft and great carbonation. Finish is like flavor, of good length, clean and slow taper. Very good, session beer.

Thanks, Dyan.
A: Straw gold with a massive sea foam head. Retention is very good and there's lacing left on the glass.
S: Aromatic banana and spicy clove with wheat and a dash of bubblegum. I get some ripe apple. Smells nice.
T: Lightly spicy clove up front with a smooth bread and wheat malt profile. Banana melds with clove and a low bitterness. Finishes lightly spicy with lingering apple.
M: Medium in body with lower high carbonation.
Overall: A good Hefeweizen. Perfect for a blistering summer day, though it's cool and early in the morning at this time.

Live review. Poured from the 12 oz. brown bottle that I bought as a single last week from Save-On in Mentor, Ohio for $1.52 into my “The Second City” Weizen glass. “Enjoy by May 20 2012” stamped ever so lightly on the front of the label.
A White meringue like head over a nice lemon yellow hazy body with several streams of bubbles rising up from below. I really like the look of this beer. 4.0
S Lemon carries into the smell with the light citrus notes along with some light wheat barley malt and very little hops if any. Nice, light smell and true to the style. 4.0
T Very solid tasting Weissbier with the light citrus and wheat barley predominating. Repeated sips reveal a tasty albeit thin tasting beer. 3.5
M Effervescent feel with the carbonation flowing about as one sips this beer. Overall the feel is light which is to style. 3.5
D/O Drinkability is quite high and overall this is a pleasantly done beer. 3.5

This is the end of my light beer weekend. Like the others, it is refreshing. There is little head, may be it should be warmer. But the color is nice and it is fairly clear. It's clean tasting.
I would buy this again if I were looking for a light summer wheat beer with a clean and easy taste. Otherwise, I would not seek it out.

12oz bottle into short (16oz) weiss glass
A - pale gold/straw yellow; pours with a nice fluffy head that quickly dissipates; no lacing, poor retention (though I might blame the glass for this)
S - lean wheat and phenolic nose; has a few edges; shows some tertiary tropical fruit - banana, guava, and some citrus;
T - follows nose pretty closely; has a honeyed aspect to the palate - still firm and refreshing; clipped in the middle; decent length showing some heat and spiciness;
M - firm, crisp and refreshing; lively but managed CO2
O - good summer beer and a fine example all around

Thanks for sending this one, Dyan.
A: The beer pours a hazy light golden orange color with a finger of white head.
S: Starts off with a nice aroma of clove and white pepper. There is a touch of nutmeg along with the sweet banana notes. Fairly sweet with some wheat, bread, and a fair amount of bubblegum.
T: The flavor has quite a bit of bubblegum to it along with a nice banana note. The clove flavor is a bit more subdued than I had hoped, but it is there, particularly on the finish. A bit too carbonated, unfortunately, which kills a bit of the malt flavor.
M: Light in body with a medium to high carbonation and a really crisp feeling on the tongue.
O: An easy to drink hefeweizen (as they should be). Could have used a bit more yeast contribution to it, but still alright.

12oz bottle with an enjoy by date of May 2012 printed on the label.
Pours yellow-orange in color with a slight haze. Substantial amount of carbonation bubbles rushing up towards a fluffy white head that stands about a forth of an inch tall after several minutes.
Smell is somewhat fruity with hints of sourdough and wheat coming through as well. Very clean finish on the aroma.
Carbonation delivers a blow to the kisser right of the bat. Once the palate recovers, the familiar fruity flavors start to make themselves known. Clove, lemon, apricot, and a touch of cumin. Wheat helps to smooth things out on the back end.
Thin to medium bodied with an agressive carbonation. Maybe just a touch too agressive (even for the style).
This is an enjoyable summer beer for sure, but the carbonated kick cuts down on the drinkability a bit in my opinion.
Morey's Bottom Line: Been waiting to try this for a while. Definitely good, but I've had better examples of the style.

This was yet another beer that I picked up at Joe Canal's in Woodbridge a few weeks back. If this was half as good as the Summer Love, then I'd be satisfied with a bottle of this during the dog days of August. From the moment I poured it out and beheld the golden, cloudy hue and the hordes of bubbles racing towards the top of the glass, I knew that this beer was another winner in Victory's portfolio.
The pour to this was wonderful, with a bright and cloudy golden hue and a decent head to match. Because this wasn't that thick a beer, there wasn't much lacing but the carbonation that I mentioned before lasted throughout my whole session, going well with the taste of the beer. There was lots of straw and grass to the taste with banana and clove underneath that. The back was a bit sour and also had just a bit of lemon rind in it. All of this was nearly enough to cancel out the wheat, but the mouthfeel still felt pretty balanced.
As for the alcohol, there wasn't much of a taste of that here and it would be easy to have a few in a session. While this isn't the best Hefeweizen out there, this is another solid offering from Victory and a great addition to their lineup of beers. It's not as easygoing as others that I've had, but it's fitting for the late summer and worth a try for anyone who loves lighter beers with some body to them.

Not exactly a hefeweizen...Umm....I mean at the time of this review this is the #30 hefeweizen on the best of beeradvocate.com best of lists. yay!
Beer is yellow and mostly clear, oops, thin white head, small bubbles, oops, and some lacing, low carboantion (oops).
The aroma is mildly yeasty (oops) and grainy (oops). It doesn't smell bad but this is suppose to be a hefeweizen right?
Beer is medium in body and sweet on the front and finishes a little dry with a mildly grainy aftertaste. I'm tired and kind of sick of this beer. game over.

Poured from the bottle into a wheat ale style glass.
Super RACING carbonation cola bubbles from the bottom shoot out and hit a tiny bubble bath foam head that falls rather normally. Color is a dull cloudy lemon juice body.
Bouquet is strong. Classic estery mild fruit sense and chewy wheat, but a sweet almost creme brulle smell. Very clove spicy but also a sweet condensed milk also. Interesting I like it.
Taste brings classic Hefe flavor of sharp clove and creamy texture that is sweet tasting on the finish. Nice carbonation that gives just some gas but nothing overpowering that diminishes the palate. The feel is a great mix of cream and fizz pop.
Overall pretty solid, a unique tasting Hefeweizen I like this sweet angle that it has. Well done.

Poured from the bottle into a weizen glass
A- Poured a clear very pale straw yellow color with a one finger soapy head. Tons of carbonation streaming up.
S- Banana, bubblegum, and yeast
T- Lots of Banana and bubblegum, some clove, yeast, very strong mineral taste,
M- Smooth, prickly carbonation
O- A pretty good wheat beer with dominant bubblegum and banana notes. Does not look like a hefeweizen I have ever seen, they advertise it as a bavarian style wheat ale. Looks like a kristallweizen. Had this on tap at the Winking Lizard last month and decided to pick up a six pack. Not quite as good as it was on tap, but a pretty good beer.

Has this on tap the other night at Lizardville, and it was a very tasty, pretty brew. Curious to see how it would translate to the bottle, I decided to pick one up and give it a try.
Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a weizen glass. Pours a very pale, hazy yellow, with a two finger white head that quickly reduces. This is one big difference from how it was on tap; the bartender at Lizardville poured this with a three finger head that just lasted and lasted.
Smells of banana, clove, honey and grass. Floral, almost light in texture, this has a sweet, delicate aroma, with only the slightest hint of a tangy undertone.
Starts slightly tangy, with ample banana, malt, and hints of lemon. There's a slightly yeasty middle to the beer, before yielding to a gentle, dry finish. Frankly, it had a much better taste on tap that it does bottled.
Light bodied, rather clean with a drying finish. Almost a delicate feel to it, punctuated by a slight tanginess.
A nice hefeweizen, though this is much better on tap than it is from the bottle. While it starts promising with a great aroma, the taste doesn't quite live up to its smell. Decent and drinkable enough, but if I can't find it on draft, I won't bother.

Golden orange hazy color with lots of visible carbonation coming up from the bottom. Big almost untameable white head that dissapates slowly down to a foamy head on top. It actually looks like the sun on the bottle. Big and pleasant smells of wheat and tangy fruits like lemon and orange. Soft and easy on the nose.
Highly carbonated, accentuating the flavors of the wheat malt and tanginess of the lemon. There's a nice sourness that gives the beer a clean and refreshing feel. Definitely a nice little kick from the sour and tangy qualities. A slight hit of hops wiggles its way in between the tanginess and wheat malts. Its really enjoyable in the heat and definitely a thirst quencher. A good beer, which is expected from Victory.

Pours a golden sunshine color with a tall dense head, very mousse like. Foam fades leaving nice lacing down the glass, Its extremely well carbonated.
Very aromatic with banana and cloves although its not as aromatic as your typical Bavarian style.
Taste is excedllent with banana and cloves coming through nicely although flavor wise it is weaker then Bavarian counterparts.
Ther beer finishes with a malty yeasty finish.
Feels thin in the mouth and is tart and spritzy.
Overall this is a good beer and could drink many at an outdoor barbaque.
I also think it is an excellent example of the style
