Poured a bright golen color with massive white puffy head that fell to a thin coating with sparse lacing. Smell is sweetish, almost honey-like, with nice nice ripe fruit essences also present. Taste is superb, with a strong malt character and a minimum of hops found. Nice full creamy mouthfeel. Too good a drinkability for a 7.4% beer. Excellent beer.

Pours a clear copper color wth a small tight tan head that settles into a light ring. The aroma is of a honey malt with some light grassy hops. The aroma was faint, so I didn't pick much up. The taste is of a smooth caramel malt and some light pepper spice. Surprisingly not much of a hop pick up. Doesn't seem to resemble a maibock too much but tastes good. A nice full body, smooth despite some prickly carbonation, finishes with a very light grassy bitterness. This might not be the most flavorful maibock but it drinks very nice, the ABV is well hidden.

Poured from a brown 12 oz. bottle. Has a caramel color with a small head. Smell is of malts and grains. Taste is of malts and grains, well balanced but not a lot of flavor. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and has average drinkability. Overall this makes for a decent brew.

Stopped by Victory on D-Day, 06JUN09, with daughter Caitlin. Ended up with a couple of pints of this with dinner. The 0.5l glass was filled with an enticing, medium-golden, clear nectar. Occaisional carbo headed topside, towards the creamy, fine white head. Lacing in the glass was top-shelf. Nose was bready and floral, a great invite to sample more deeply. Body was very solidly medium, with nary a hint of prickliness on the tongue.
Flavor was replete with bready, toasty, malts. The sweetness level here was perfect. Hops were well represented, with lightly fruity traits (think pear and green apple). A superb blend of malt and hops! Oh so drinkable! Prosit!!

Original review from 25MAY03. Hell yeah! Wish this bier was available in New England! St. B has a medium copper color, with perhaps a tinge of orange. It was clear throughout, and had a fine, thin white head atop it, with decent lacing. Nose was malty and sweet (in a Hell-Bock kind of way), and both body and smoothness on the tongue were medium. The flavor has a healthy dose of bready malt, nice and toasty and semi-sweet. A hint of fruitiness (and just a hint) shows up about midway through, and there is a crisp, fresh hop finish to St. B. Nicely balanced all the way! This is a lovely Bier! Prosit!!

The beer poured into the glass crystal clear golden with a white, but low head which did not last well enough to lace the glass.
The aroma was nicely malty and crisp with a bit of spicy hop character. Some fruity aromas were present, a bit of cider profile for sure.
The flavor was malty with a bit of apple/cider, but as a fruit flavor, not as a body comment. The beer contained quite a malt presence with some caramel character and a nice spicy hop chracter to balance and keep the beer finish toward dry.
The finish was heading to dry, as mentioned, and had a lasting spicy hop presence into the aftertaste. The body was medium and the carbonation on the low side. A nice beer, but the apple character is a flaw for the style, the warming after consumption was fairly high.
12 ounce bottle, enjoy by Oct. 31, 06. Thanks BeerBeing!

This beer is a mostly clear golden color with a very slim head. Nice, malt-heavy aroma. The beer has a slightly toasted scent, with a bread and alcohol scent. Clean flavor, with a prominent malt character. A little sulfur-like note, but otherwise clean. Sweet. Firm body, and very drinkable. Overall, a good bock.

This beer pours a clear shimmering golden color. The head is massive, and receds slowly into thick lacing. The aroma is grassy, grainy, but with a nice fruity background. The taste is a perfect balance between grassy and fruity, and is midly sweet overall. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with nice carbonation. Overall, this is one of the best maibocks I have had to date. I will certainly drink this again whenever I get the chance.

Poured from a 12oz bottle into my Dogfish shaped glass. It poured golden in color with a fizzy, white head to it. The head faded after a few minutes, and left just a bit of lacing on my glass as I drank it.
The aroma has a crisp, grainy flavor to it. Some earthy, slightly peppery hops give it some very nice balance. Very clean, crisp and balanced beer.
The taste is similar to the nose suggested, with crisp, grainy flavors leading the way. I also get some more of the earthy, peppery hoppiness, especially in the finish. I get just a bit of sweetness coming through up front, where the hops seem to take over towards the finish.
The mouthfeel is on the lighter side with carbonation being moderate. Overall it was a very nice beer. It was crisp, clean, balanced, but also had a lot of flavor to it. Everything came together very nicely and made for a very easy drinking and tasty beer. A nice refreshing choice after working on the house all day. Definitely one of the better ones of the style I've had.

Poured into a flute.
3.5 A: Clear light yellow with a hint of green. Healthy frothy head dies faster than I'd like, but leaves a reasonable amount of lacing.
3.0 S: Not really much of anything with a slight of muskiness from the hops.
4.0 T: I find this to be very tasty. It more than makes up for the appearance and smell. Slightly grainy. Neutral malt base with some residual sweetness present. Noble hop flavor and mild bitterness.
4.0 M: Lighter medium body. Good carbonation and quite smooth.
3.5 D: Not the biggest fan of the style, but this is an alright brew.

Victory- St. Boisterous
Appearance- light yellow/ orange with very little head. Slight soapy foam, no lacing.
Smell- not much here. A light hay/ straw odor. Sweet fruity malt.
Taste- sweet and light. Slighty orange/ lemony with a strong metallic taste.
Mouthfeel- sweet up front followed by a bitter metallic aftertaste.
Overall- not s good one. watery with little flavor other than a metallic taste. Victory usually does so much better than this.

12 oz bottle. This one pours a crystal clear medium golden color with a fleeting coat of head. This beer is brilliant, almost glowing. The aroma is solid with pilsner malt sweetness with a mild toasted bread melanoidan quality. There is also a kiss of spicey noble hop that rounds it out really nicely. This smells really nice. Flavor is very focused towards pilsner malt sweetness, with a solid honey sweet maltyness. The toasted notes hit secondarily and this is followed quickly by a very mild bitterness that doesn't hang on very long at all. I think the sweetness is a little much, and the toasted notes could be a little stonger for my flavor. Feel is moderate, with a very mild carbonation. I like this beer. It is solid all around, and a style I would like to see more of on the shelves.

St. Boisterous has a body that combines hues of red and orange to create a color that is different from every angle based on how the light hits it, becoming blood red or bright orange. What ever way the light hits it, the color is very pleasing, but the off-white cap is small and doesn't really do much for me in the retention and lacing departments.
The aroma has a some caramel, and a good dose of noble hops.
like the aroma suggested, St. Boisterous isn't especially sweet, it has some caramel malt that is generally a subdued flavor. Some part of the malt gives the impression that it was lightly toasted. The most interesting thing that I pick up is a hint of smoky peat. The finish is loaded with slightly fruity, slightly earthy English hops.
The mouthfeel is medium, smooth, and a little bit dry at the end. Really, I credit the mouthfeel for making this one go down even easier.
St. Boisterous is an interesting bock, and like everything Victory makes it is good and very drinkable.

Pours a clear gold color, bubbly white head, gone quickly with little lacing. Scent is muted and mild, light herbal notes, faint faint caramel sweetness, touch of wet paper. Taste a little more focuses with lightly sweet malt, little in the way of fresh grain, which i like in the style, some herbal splashes on the back end. Moderate body, smooth, decently carbonated. A nice clean take on the style, just would have liked a bit more grain to the taste.

Copped a single, 12 oz bottle from Oak Tree in South Plainfield... nice golden, copper, apple-juice appearance with minimal head... sweet, candied aroma with florals and cinnamon sugars... taste strongly complements the aroma, with a sugar-laden, vanilla, caramel, and butter flavor that is ultra-thick and truly rich... The best thing about this beer is the uncloying, and non-intrusive flavor that goes down smooth, crisp, and clean without any trace of bitterness or alcohol... one of the better brews from Victory... a nice sample full of character, flavor, and great taste... pears and grapefruit along with floral notes are also noticeable... nice light, refreshing mouthfeel and relatively easy drinkability that goes down like sugared-water without any hint of bitterness or alcohol... a top-notch Victory brew... Definitely recommended...

Clear bright gold appearance, head is fairly minimal and is essentially gone after 45 seconds or so. A couple of strings for lacing. A little bit of sweetness in the aroma, much more of a slightly bitter apple core and slushy cinnamon sweetend apple sauce that plays very well. Body is heavier, carbonation is at the low end of the spectrum. Taste is quite malty, viscous with an almost maple syrup sweetness. Hops give a slightly leafy and peppery counterpoint (I kind of like them to pop more in this style), and nicely emphasized in the second half of the flavor profile. Toasted malt impression gets stronger on warming and lingers well into the aftertaste. A slightly too thick brew, nice balance and a pleasant rendition of a strong Helles Bock.

12oz bottle from Chevy Chase Wine & Liquors in DC.
Pours a clear golden color with a one-finger white head that settles to a little bit of foam on top.
Aroma is mild with grain, pale malt, and honey.
Flavor is nice and pleasant. Somewhat sweet with pale malt, honey, grain, white pepper, and some mild grassy hops on the finish. Some yeasty notes also that are almost reminiscent of a Belgian pale ale.
Body is medium-light and mouthfeel is crisp with fairly lively carbonation.
Drinkability is pretty high. Overall this is a solid example of the style.

Pours with a fluffy white head that rises to about 3 fingers in depth. Hangs on for a short time then faded away to a thin film of foam. Does leave splotches of lacing all over the inside of the glass. The beer is bright gold, very clear and has no visible carbonation.
Aroma, is of grains, and lots of mineral notes. I'm not sure how to describe it, but it does smell like some of the other Maibocks that I've had. A sweetness to this.
Sweet malt is my first thought. Malt sweetness is also my second thought. Some graininess, then some mineral/metallic flavors. After this there is a burst of hop bitterness that cuts through the sweetness. As the hop notes fade away, the sweetness returns. There is a moment at the end where you get a sense of the alcohol, but this is not overt.
Mouth feel is medium bodied and slightly sticky. Carbonation is very light.
Fairly drinkable, but a touch too sweet. Would not have guessed this was a 7%+ ABV without knowing.

A: This poured a translucent copper with some off-white head.
S: It smelled like bready yeast and warm caramel with some metallic hops and light citrus.
T: It tasted like metallic hops and juicy citrus, with bready yeast and some sweet caramel. It had a sharp bitter aftertaste.
M: It was slightly thick with moderate carbonation.
D: This was a pretty nice lager that was fairly basic, but light and easy to drink. The aftertaste was a bit harsh, especially considering how tame the taste was up front. But the alcohol was well hidden, and it was a generally enjoyable drink.

Draught @ Victory. This one pours a absolutely clear golden color. There was very little white head on it. The nose was somewhat malty and also had a slight grassiness to it. The taste is a bit of a malty biscuity taste, and was slightly sweet. The medium body belies its 7.4% alcohol. Very Good!

Appearance: Clear medium gold body, no carbonation visivle, with a quick rising head, fades fast leaving no lace in a wet glass.
Smell: Spicy and grassy, corn, citrus.
Taste: A very big beer, indeed, lots of grassy and corny malts, spicey flavors are out front, peppery and a little bit fruity. Up there with my tops of the style, this is a beer to be sipped or sessioned, but enjoyed either way. A good representation of the style.
Drinkability: What's not to like, it is a big peppery beer, well hopped, enjoyable and highly drinkable. Worth picking up a 6, for sure.

Sampling a slightly chilled 12 oz bottle from santoslhalper. Thx man!
The beer is poured into a pint glass and a fizzy off white head foams up and quickly fades to nothing. Several streams of bubbles rise to the surface but none reform the head. Color is a bright clear bronze that is similar in color to apple juice.
Aroma is caramel and some lite citrusy lemon scents. Very lite floral hops too.
First sip reveals a light body with an overall clean and crisp profile. Flavor starts with some general malt sweetness with caramel and lite fruitiness. Rolls to a bit of a bitey spicy hop finish.
No hint of abv anywhere.
Beer is very nice and refreshing. I kinda wish I had let it chill longer as I think it is prob even better colder. Another nice brew from the guys in Downingtown!

I didnt know that Victory produced this beer. I usually would go for the doublebock that was right next to it on the shelf but figured I need to try something a little less extreme. Here goes...
Pale golden color. Moderate carbonation level. Malty though somewhat chemical like aroma. Buttery. Deep malty flavor. Slight toffeeish taste. Quite crisp and clean-slightly bitter against the lingering malt. Good solid mouthfeel. Overall very nicely done and quite drinkable.
Glad to try the regular bock then going for the "double" as I usually do. Great effort from Victory.

Poured out of my growler and into me Troegs pint with a crystal clear amber golden hue and backwards rolling carbonation quickly that settled under a tiny white coating cap.
Dry husky malt scent dominate the nose. A twinge of the sweet vanilla ice cream scents that Rogue Dead Guy has.
First swigs: Like an unleashed Ginger Ale just took off. Slightly roasted caramel under long lasting caramely findh. Butterscotch sweetness overtakes the flavor. Maple syrupy feel and flavor. Tons of spices are hidden in this treat like nutmeg and cinnamon.
Depending on the season, this is an excellent drinker. With a 7.4 ABV, this is a spicy, winter warmer, meant to be a spring offering traditionally.
Last swigs: Buttery sweet malts that linger into an equalled finish. Originally VICTORY promoted this as a Dopplebock, but now it's a Hellerbock.
Beer is good. Happy beering.
