Draft at Kraftwork on 2/17/11.

Pours a very hazy golden yellow banana color with golden yellow hues when held to a light and a half finger white head that quickly fades into a lasting ring. Minimal spots of lacing left behind.

Slightly earthy, tart aroma with lots of zesty spice as well as some bready yeast and crisp citrus fruit. Hints of coriander, pepper, banana and lemon peel. The nose is pretty complex with lots of different characteristics bouncing off of one another. Nice and spicy but still has plenty of light, crisp citrus and yeast character.

Full bodied and very flavorful with an excellent balance of bread/yeast, citrus, light fruit and spice. The spice isn't overpowering with subtle pepper and coriander that compliments the citrus lemon peel and light banana flavor very nicely. The ABV of this beer isn't very high but it is well asked with little alcohol flavor, making this tasty beer extremely quaffable. Prominent banana and flavor which is a nice change for the style with the perfect spice, bread and citrus compliment.

Overall, I really enjoyed this beer and it was much better than I anticipated. I can easily see this becoming one of my favorite Victory offerings. Recommended.

This is such a very good beer. It was poured with a nice creamy head which had a lace which lasted for a while. The taste had a good hefe taste with considerable citrus flavors, but they did not overpower. Very, very drinkable. This beer shows us just how good a brewery Victory is. This beer has a depth and subtelty which one normally associates with European breweries. This is definitely a victory for your taste. I would highly recommend getting this hefe over the imports if you are at Ludwig's in Philly. You sacrifice no quality and you support local.

Victory- Mad King's Weiss

10 year anniversary party.

Appearance- hazy cloudy yellow with a thcik white frothy head.
Smell- strong spices, clove and cinnimon with the usual banana scent.
Taste- bananas and clove. Strong, but smooth, sugary clove flavor. Like the chewing gum clove.
Mouthfeel- smooth and crisp. light, easy to drink.

Overall- my wife's favorite offering from Victory and 1 of the best Hefe's I've had. Good beer even on a cold Feb. night.

This is some tasty stuff! Definite apple cider notes to this one with just a bit of that weiss tingly bite at the end. Pours a foggy amber/yellow hue with a nice lingering head. I don't like it quite as much as the Whirlwind Wit on account of its sweetness, but it is still excellent and a far cry from the tasteless wheat beers many other brewers are churning out in the US. Has a lot of character and a very unique taste. Another great brew from Victory.

Pours a decent head, but it goes away quickly. Cloudy orange-yellow color. Hearty smells of heartland. Robust aroma. Heavy taste, but very crisp and clean in the mouth. Incredibly drinkable.
One of the best wheat beers I've had and another victory from Victory.

Holy Presentation, Batman! It came in a tall Weiss glass, plus the head was like marshmallow Fluf, or Jack the Ripper's avatar. The color was a cloudy lemon-yellow with a lot of CO2 bubbles present. The nose had alemony zestiness, a peppery spiciness, and a yeasty mustiness. I wnet fruit-free and for Phatz, having fruit with this beer would have been a classic case of gilding the lily. The mouthfeel was thick and full, almost creamy. I got a lot of banana esters as well as black peppery spice in the mouth. The finish was yeast-driven mustiness, like opening a box full of pulp magazines, like mystery and detective fiction or comic books. I know that smell intimately and this definitely mimicked it.

Had a sample of this at Victory this past Mon (7/23) Took a Growler home based on that experience.

The beer pours a hazy luminescent amber with a pillowy white head. The aroma is wheat and clove with subtle underpinning of tropical fruit. The flavours are wheat, spice, citrus peel, banana, all balanced on one of the smoothest mouthfeel's you can imagine. As for the drinkability, I could have easily polished off the 64oz Growler myself If I didn't have to share. ;-)

I have to agree with phillybeerdrinker on this one. The first time I had this beer in Pittsburgh, all I could think of, boy I wish they bottled this. I love a wheat that has a little more oomph to it. I recently got to try this again when visiting the brewpub. I has a great banana-clove aroma, hazing appearance, with a head that last forever. It is so drinkable, if anything too drinkable, could sneak up on you and definitely get you into trouble. As I've said before, Victory continues to put out great beers, and they have excellent quality control.
