355ml can poured into pint glass on aug25 2009
A not quite crystal clear copper, nice two finger head with fair retention and even some lace
S strong honey and sweet grains
T fairly sweet with honey overpowering most of the flavor, but it works for this beer.
M good carbonation, thick for a lager but that's a good thing, nice and creamy
D smooth, very easy too drink, overall I'm happy with this one
not sure if this is a true lager it has ale written all over it. for what i paid for this beer (7$canadian 6er) i could not be more pleased, its not bad at all.
Bowen island has come out with a few discount beers and this one is the best I've tried, well worth the 7$

Solid lager from Bowen which adds some honey notes to the finish while the darker malts make this quite flavourful. Taken into account the great price this is spot on for the style. Considering how most honey lagers are average this is on par for less money .

I bought Bowen Island Brewery's Craft Beer sampler (~$1.63 per can). It had three of these cans. It pours with a large fluffy white head and tiny carbonation bubbles. The body is clear and light brown (amber). Lots of lacing. Interesting aroma of vanilla honey, malt and grains. The taste is big on dark, thick honey, like a buckwheat honey. Good balance of malt and hops behind the honey taste. Little carbonation feel and a medium body. Overall, it is a well-done delicious beer. I don't much like honey lagers but this one delivered a great honey flavour which is what I'd expect from a honey lager.

Amber brown apperance with lots of foamy white head that disappears quickly, leaves decent lacing though. Smell consists of bread, floral hops, malt and a hint of caramel.
Taste consist of caramel, brown sugar, bread and malt. Hint of citrus and slight earthy. Taste is fairly light though. Light bodied with moderate carbonation. Aftertaste is a lingering dark sweet taste, hint of booze.
Overall not a bad honey brown for its price. A little watery, but good for summertime. Worth a try.

It is what is...
Light amber brown, off-white head, good retention & lace.
Slightly sweet aroma with hints of grainy biscuit & nut.
There's some nice honey flavour here, I'm not sure if they get that from the malt (Gambrinus) or back-sweeten after pasteurization. Either way, it goes well with the nutty biscuit.
Moderate mouthfeel, carbonation is a little high.
An approachable, easy drinker that's true to 'style'.

355ml can, for a buck-fiddy, can't beat that.
This beer pours a clear, medium copper hue, with a ton of dense, foamy, marshmallow-like off-white head, which leaves some weeping stone wall lace around the glass upon its retreat. It smells of mild bready malt, and some floral, tangy hops. The taste is sourdough bread, some soft earthy sweetness, and an equally indeterminate smooth Amaretto nuttiness. Any honey kind of took a wrong turn at Albuquerque. The carbonation is fairly sedate, the body on the light side, and somewhat creamy. It finishes off-dry, still fairly sweet from the lingering caramel breadiness.
Not a bad tipple, though the slightly skewed sweetness would kind of tire after a few, I'm certain.

Bowen Island honey brown lager pours a light orangey amber with a nice head that lingers nicely. The aroma is sweet grainy, slightly caramelized malts. The flavor is sweet upfront with some nice light crystal flavors. It finishes a bit dry and grainy with some metallic hop flavor and bitterness. There is some lingering residual sweetness, at odds with the dryness in the finish.

So this honey brown lager pours a nice, slightly chill-hazed pale orange brown with a 1 finger, creamy-looking off-white head that dissipates quite quickly but leaves some very nice soapy lacing on my glass.
Smell is predominantly of sweet bready malts and a touch of that sour creaminess that I get from a lot of creamy style lagers.
Taste is full of caramel sweetness and some light notes of citrus fruit with a solid bready malt backbone and quite a pronounced brown sugar flavour on the finish, matched by a good amount of nuttiness on the linger. Not much in the way of bitterness in this beer and it is just a tad unbalanced in terms of sweetness.
Mouthfeel is medium bodied with a good amount of cream matched with a high level of carbonation and just a slight oily texture on the finish.
Drinkability is definitely this beer's best attribute. It's your typical, easy-drinking, 5% session beer that goes down nice and easy. It is a bit sweet but not enough to make it undrinkable. That said, this is a pretty decent bang-for-your-buck beer that I will definitely buy again.

Not the greatest. Hard to explain the taste. I used to be able to stomach this and now I have a really hard time.
Almost has a sweet taste to it as well. Worth a try for the price though.
Taste- Slightly sweet, malty, cheap. Almost tastes as if you put some sort of cooler in it. It really has some kind funny feel.
Mouthfeel- Malty and sweet.
Drinkabilty- Not much. Worth a try maybe.
