330ml bottle served in a tulip glass.
Enjoyed in Italy.
A: Pours a dark orange to amber color. Clear. Forms a medium yellow creamy and persistent head. Lots of spotty lacings left in the glass
S: Strong caramel in the nose. Quite fruity too. Notes of wood and scotch. flowery hops
T: Sweet upfront. Quite bitter end. Strong notes of toffee, caramel malts, wood, scotch malts. Nice bitter stingy end
M: Medium body. Medium carbonation. Hoppy bitter end
O: Good drinkability. Good scotch malt character. Not bad

Got it from Italy.
A - Honey orange color with decent amount of bubbles and nice white to brown thin foam.
S - Not so strong smell of sweet malt and fruits
T/M - I thing that 2 bottle in a row will be enough. Very bitter after, and extremely positive aroma of apricot and quince. Medium to low sweeter taste with medium carbonation.
O - This is award winning strong ale, and it deserve to be.

[bottle & tap]
good appearence. nice head which fades slowly and rather dense-looking body.
the smell is sweet, and such is the taste.
dried fruits, caramel with a hint of alchool. actually, probably a bit too sweet for the style, but still not unpleasant and finely rebalanced by the hops.
high drinkability, i definitely like it.

It's a golden coloured ale, with a head that quickly vanishes down to a thin layer. I found the taste a bit strong, like too much alcohol would make a heavy impact on the palate. Mostly sweet, just barely a taste of the balancing bitterness. A bit different, but not something I'd look forward to returning to.

Poured from a single 300 ml bottle purchased at a grocery store in Lido, Italy for 0.99 Euro into a clean, clear glass on 6 17 09.
A Translucent brown body under a minimal 1 cm head.
S Apricot! Other dark fruits may have been detected such as raisin. I also smell a bit of alcohol. Interesting and inviting.
T Sweet Apricot thankfully carries right over into the taste. Really, quite interesting.
M Moderate feel with the dark fruit and reasonably high ABV.
D Good due at least to the nice fruit smell and taste.
Notes: A pleasant surprise!

I picked up this brew from a supermarket in Italy. It's a light honey-colored liquid with a slight head. The head, however, is white and produces an remarkable sheen of lace. The beer has a mildly sweet smell, which is punctuated by a malt character. The flavor is of bread and caramel, but a hint of butterscotch in the background. The beer has a medium body, but a nice balance. It has a bit more sweetness and warming than the ABV would suggest. There's a little hop bitterness in the finish, but it's a little shy. This is a nice, relaxing, sit around brew. I'd go to this one again for sure.

From my notes 6/10/07 pours a one-finger off-white head that fades slowly to a thin layer, leaving some lace. Clear amber color. Malty/fruity nose. Medium carbonation and medium bodied. Flavor is malty with a malty/cidery finish. Brewed Oct 31, 2006. 4 ($5.48) for a 330ml bottle from the Holiday Inn Venice, Italy

1.79 euro for a bottle. Good color. Perfectly transparent, a light smoked blond color. Smells ok, heavy sweetness, some astringent. Smell is eliminated very fast with the first taste. Very strong taste, musty, alcohol, resin, almost like a bit of scotch was added. Different, but not too good. Mouthfeel is creamy and watery at the same time. Former from the excellent carbonation characteristics, latter from the excessive alcohol with nothing much else to back it up.

Golden copper body with a sticky, medium-sized, dirty white head. Good lacing. Smells of vague sweet dried fruits, mixed with toffee and buttery bread malts. Faint hops, and some alcohol as well. Taste starts with toasted, anise-edged toffee malts. Turns to fruity, estery fruitiness before moderately bitter hops try to balance it all. Finish is mostly sweet with trace spicy bitterness. Medium bodied, kinda chewy, like toffee I guess. Not bad.

Sampled at a shared tasting in Venice, Italy.
Golden.
Mildly aromatic with notes of mollasses, caramel, pit fruit, butter and alcohol.
Biscuit like malt provides a dry and nutty character throughout while other notes of banana esters, apples and toffee are present. Medium bodied. A pleasant offering.

Hazy orange gold color. Persistent layer of tight foam lasts until the end. Fruit (white grape) and sticky bread dough dominate the aroma. The fruitiness is carried over to the flavor along with some toasted malt and caramel. The yeast also lends it's fairly clean character. Hops contribute to a dry finish. A respectable effort toward a traditional strong ale.
