Poured into a wide mouth, grip shaped goblet: color is brown, transparent, head is very light tan with fine bubbles and presents a scant 1/8 inch, no lacing.
Smell is light cattiness upfront, then light roast, some brown malt, noble hops.
Taste is light malt sweetness, toast, light nuttiness, some very light roast and cocoa, hints of the catty/skunky hops with an earthy finish.
Mouthfeel is moderate carbonation, moderate sweetness, low bitterness but a lingering carbonic like bite.
Overall a classic brand and better than i recall with a prominent malt flavor with that funky hop character of clear bottle brews.

To me , this is a classic. The market is saturated with very good BA's and it's a fare game. I think there is no point to compare this mainstream beer to a craft micro scene out there. This is cheap, accessible and taste good. As a daily grab, sits in my garage and the fact that it's around makes me feel good.

This is the brown against which I judge all other brown ales. It's very good for what it is. Sure, there are better ones. But I'm always happy to have one of these.

A: crystal clear; medium brown in color; less than a 1 finger tan head that receded to a skim cap with a moderate tight collar; OK lacing;
S: moderately roasted grain;
T: sweet malt and moderately roasted grain from start to finish; mild bitterness in the aftertaste;
M: light to medium bodied; moderate carbonation; moderately dry finish;
O: not especially interesting, but nicely balanced flavor;

Much better on tap. Very smooth and malty, could drink several.

It's a beer and nothing that special. May be because it's an import and age has degraded it, but I feel as if it's not exactly my thing. Just tasted like beer, very similar to some red stripe I had albeit a bit more malty instead of bitter.
