Excited to try this after hearing about it for some time; 12 oz. bottle poured into snifter. The bottle is undated but presumably fresh (a new arrival at Acme in North Canton).
A: Pours a foggy, vibrant golden orange color with two fingers of thick, foamy, white head. Head subsides at a moderate pace leaving decent lacing behind.
S: Tons of tropical citrus hop flavors in the nose– pineapple, mango, grapefruit, and tangerine. Bits of pine hops and lightly toasted malts.
T: Grapefruit and pine are the dominant hop flavors here, and both show up early alongside a bigger dose of sweet, toasty malts than was present in the nose. Not as diverse as the smell, but very well balanced. Biscuity malt flavors and a lingering hop bitterness mesh well on the finish.
M: Medium-bodied with moderate carbonation; very smooth and crisp. Slightly creamy too, and with a dry finish. Well done– makes drinking this a breeze.
O: An outstanding offering from Columbus Brewing Co. This one almost got straight 4.5s, but still offers a great taste and is incredibly easy to drink. Well worth it at $9 a six pack; I look forward to my next glass.

Received a 12oz bottle as an extra in a recent trade and drinking it now...
Wow, quite the surprise...I'm really digging this beer. It strikes the perfect balance between bitterness and hop flavor. Finishes dry and with a little hop bite that begs me to sip again. More back loaded it seems on the hop additions... balanced for flavor and aroma than bitterness which always works better in IPA's imo.
Very nice aroma...the simcoe still coming through even though it's probably an older bottle?
The color is as expected...bit cloudy but what unfiltered IPA isn't?
Definitely worth the try if seen...wish we could get it here in New England!

Thanks, claaark13!
Hazed orange. Moderate off-white head. Gorgeous, sticky, irregular spiderwebs of lace left down the glass. Gorgeous IPA.
Tons of bright, juicy citrus notes and expressive pine hop character. A touch of sweetness. Fantastic. The Midwest's shining IPA star.
The flavor follows the aroma, along with a moderate level of bitterness. Juicy citrus, pine, a touch of sweetness, and bitterness combine exceptionally well.
Medium bodied with moderate to high carbonation.
Fantastic. Easily, my favorite Midwest IPA.
