Drank and reviewed 11/12/11. From notes. Single bottle from Pace-High, shaker pint glass.

A: extremely dark red, hazy, oversteeped tea; still translucent. 1/4 inch sandy-tan head fades quickly. Good lacing. Lasts to the end.

S: malty with some yeasty fruitiness. Slight roast. Sweet.

T: dry, very little hoppiness, slightly bitter. More bitter than a brown ale, but simple and pleasing.

M: mid-to-light weight; smoother than expected, little carbonation.

O: simple, malty, bitter, not sweet; great with food. I could come back to this again and again.

The beer was served in a Imperial Pint glass.

A- The body of the beer is a deep orange nearing scarlet coloration. The head was thick and creamy intially but quickly fell down.

S- The aroma is mildly smokey with sweet caramel malt.

T- The flavor of the beer has an almost smokey caramel maltyness. A suggestion of peat and herbal tones. The beer is ok but is bland.

M- The body of the beer is almost medium lightly carbonated.

O- Not a bad beer by any strech but its a little bland for my taste.

A-pours a clear amber with a foamy off-white head and great lacing.

S-sweet caramel malt. Not much else.

T-malty sweet a little bland even for the style. Nothing special.

M-medium bodied with moderate carbonation.

O-kind of a disappointment given how much I usually enjoy Columbus beers.

Picked up in Mansfield, Ohio while back there to visit friends and family October 2011.

Appearance: dark, ruby-red color; thick, off-white head

Smell: Very malty, bread-like...

Taste: Rich, biscuity malt flavor up front. Bitterness mildly noted towards the end.

Mouthfeel: Solid, smooth and chewy - great compliment to the malt flavors.

Overall: A very nice, big malt beer.
