12 ounce bottle -> World Market Tulip glass

This beer pours up a clear medium gold with about a one finger head, not much retention, but some risidual lacing. The smell is very citrus, floral, and pine. Malt dominates up front followed by a powerful grapefruit and spicy hop bitter finish. Mouthfeel is pretty nice, medium thick and satisfying. I'd drink this again.

They forgot the taste in this one!! Opens and pours to almost perfect hue, nice sudsy head. Bring to your nose, smells decent, not great, maybe hope for some substance as it goes down your pallet.

But...

Then...

You...

Actually...

Drink it...

And it dies a quick death on the taste buds. For a split second it tastes like it has potential. Then
NOTHING!! No taste, no citrus, no floral, nothing.

Oh well, it was worth the try. I guess. No wait, no it wasn't. :(

Another pick up while in PA:

Into a pint glass:

A: clear golden/copper body with barely any carbonation seen rising, half finger white foamy head that leaves a fair amount of thick foamy lacing,

S: citrus - slightly orange up front with the normal biscuit/graham cracker sweetness of an EIPA, subdued hops

T: sweet up front, hops trying to make their presence, but mainly staying where they are as in the smell, biscuit aftertaste and finish

M: light, very sessionable, ABV not felt, carbonation is adequate

O: I say this is good for its style and good for me, glad I finally was able to find some Flying Fish as I've been wanting to try their stuff for a long time

Time for a re-review of this guy. Poured from the bottle into my Dogfish Head Ale glass.

A nice golden and copper light amber body, with some soda carbonation Head is off white with some soapy retention but not much staying power settling down to a simple puck. Fairly decent.

Nose hints of herbal tea and some minor orange like citrus hop angles, with a very large biscuit and graham cracker aroma. Clean but also dense. Hints of a good sweetness, and a simple hop front.

Palate hits mostly in the finish. Light front body with a bit of wet feel but a large biscuit dense graham cracker taste. Some toasty action matches a bit. Dense malt but light bodied. Bitterness is very controlled and level.

Overall pretty solid, but was hoping there would be a bit more body to this. Interesting thing is, I ended up with the same score 2 years later.

--- Original Review July 2011 - Poured on tap ----

A very nice creamy white head, with a golden orange amber, very clear. Gorgeous orange color, with nice thin lacing while drinking.

Mix of soft hop herbal and citrus orange notes. Some hint of bread malt also.

Taste is a grass citrus orange with hop and malty quick bready finish. Lingering hop and toast character upon swallow in style just keeps coming.

Overall these guys just know how to make hops sing in beer. All there IPAs and amped up hopped styles are just great.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a pint glass. Good size white head, nice hazy copper color with good head retention and lacing.

Smell is minimal at best. A little grassy hops.

Taste is a good bit better than the aroma. Toasted malt flavor is rich and pronounced with a grassy hops bitterness at the end. This is English IPA all the way...strong flavor, just not a strong hoppy presence,

Mouthfeel is crisp and rich. The hops bitterness at the end is qelcome.

I prefer American IPAs but this is a good beer...an IPA for those that don't care for hop bombs.
