I'm admittedly not a huge saison fan. This one was little too funky for me. The whole "barnyard" and/or "horse blanket" thing doesn't do it for me. This brought together those qualities I don't really care for, but with fruit and wine barrels too. It was drinkable, but I wouldn't get it again.

Pours a copper-amber color with a thin white head, leaving back a nice ring of lacing.
Smells of lemon zest, kumquat, more exotic fruits and a tart hay quality, with an artificially perfume appearance hovering above this foundation. Got a bright oak backbone, which does not prevent the fruits from unfolding in many facettes.
Got a lower carbonation among a medium bodied beer with lots of sour fruits, a sweet maltiness and oaken barrels which kind of distract from each others.
Tastes overly sweet, somehow fruity but aggresivly acidic and sour at the same time, with some oaken wine barrel adding to sweeter malts and a tropical juice fruitiness. All the different flavors completely collide on the palate with a pungent fruit defined dryness, together with prevailing white wine barrels.
This does not work for me. Its got too much of everything, creating an unpleasant chaos on the tongue which fails completely to convince. Medicinal, like a cheap Kräuterschnaps in which the complex mixture of adjuncts and barrel aging does not come together.

Look: I really enjoy this color. It's somewhat amber with a slight reddish hue, kinda interesting.
Smell: At first it didn't really smell like much, but after it warmed up a bit it smells like super juicy fruit which is amazing.
Taste: Ok, I was little let down here. It has a slight tartness, a slight funkyness, but this underlying butteryness like there's some DMS in there.
Feel: A little thick on the mouthfeel, for 8.8% I wasn't expecting something super carbed. For the style though, it's a bit more syrupy than it should be.
Overall: This is an interesting beer, glad I tried it, but definitely not something I'm going to seek out. If I could have the smell that this thing has in an air freshener I'd be so down.
