3.8/5  rDev -8.7%
look: 4.5 | smell: 4 | taste: 3.5 | feel: 4 | overall: 4

Serving: Bottle poured into Imperial Pint

Appearance: golden honey color, 3-finger creamy head, lacing in rings.

Smell: pine upfront, with citrus notes.

Taste: Sweet, resiny with citrusy malt finish.

Mouthfeel: very smooth

Not my favorite beer because of the resin taste, but certainly worth trying. I will probably try it again. Wish I had had the Divine 11 to compare, but never tried it.

4/5  rDev -3.8%
look: 4 | smell: 4.5 | taste: 4 | feel: 3 | overall: 4

Appearance: Honeyed golden look, hefty off white head.

Smell: it's catty. flourishes of mint sprig. deeply resinous pine/sap. aggressively hopped.

Taste: hoppy, woody, resinous notes. Alcohol. Intense, yet pretty well integrated. Not too rambunctious, though still raucous. Faint sweet malts, but overall dry and bigly hoppy. Some tropical fruits soaked in vodka.

Finish: still catty... very bitter. Some chalk. Damn dry.

Mouthfeel: a tad thin. San Diego style... from Houston.

Overall: Double IPAs can be overly sweet, for purposes of "balance". This is not one of those. Thinner and not as refined as the Divine Reserve #11, which somehow reaches heaven rather than just shooting for the stars. Still, beer this hoppy and well made in Texas shows how far we've come in craft beer. Let us Endeavour to continue our efforts to bring better beer to the masses.
