This little guy is a year old, give or take. "Grin & Beer it!" under the cap.
A - Holy jeez. This thing is black as night. In the forest. In the arctic. In winter. In a cave. It's that black. The brown, 1 finger head sits atop for a minute, and dissapates into a frothy cap that's just beckoning "drink me".
S - Booze. Dark chocolate. Light coffee aspects... very reminescent of a frappuccino. Mineral notes. The warmer it gets, the more molasses and brown sugar peek out, completely rounding out the nose.
T - Holy complexity. Washes over the tongue with a chocolate liqueur vibe off the bat, and into a full blown coffee/bittersweet chocolate wave. Ends with even more bitterness, and a hop bill that still, a year later, shows it's face in the finish. Hell, it head-butts you. Alcohol peeks through in the end as well, the more it warms.
M - It could stand to be a little thicker... the body needs to be more syrupy for it to contend with DL or Expedition.
D - This is an awesomely drinkable RIS. As unfortunate as I am to only have one, I consider myself VERY fortunate to be able to try it at all. St. Arnolds ought to make this again, seeing all the wonderful praise it's received.
Notes: Carlos, the man, the myth, the legend hooked me up with this bad-ass brew. Thanks again dude.

Saint Arnold Divine Reserve 5 has a very thin, tan head and a deep, dark brown appearance (may as well say black). The aroma is full- sweet, dark-roasted barley malt, dark fruits, liquorice, black cherries, candi sugar, some chocolate, and some coffee. Flavor is the same, with some powder, cellar mold, and a decent amount of bitterness showing itself. Mouthfeel is mostly thick, and Saint Arnold Divine Resrve 5 finishes mostly dry, sweet, and quite drinkable. One would not guess this has a 10% abv. Overall, this is just world class, and I love it! If you ever see it, get it!

12oz bottle into a snifter - big thanks to Chad for this long time want!
A: Pours a dark brown, pretty black in the glass, with a nice dark tan head that fades to a ring and leaves a touch of lacing on the glass.
S: The nose was full of chocolate, some vanilla, a bit of molasses, and a small hint of smoke. I'd never had this one before but it smells like it has aged wonderfully.
T: The taste was really great. I got nice flavors of chocolate, roasted malt, some vanilla, and a touch of smoke on the finish. Really excellent example of a RIS.
M: The feel was medium bodied and a bit creamy.
O: Given the age this thing was very tasty. I had been wanting to try this ever since I got into beer and am very happy it finally happened while the beer is still amazing. I'd love to try it again in a year to see if it has peaked or is still going.

Shared 3 ways, been looking forward to this one for awhile!
Good head and tan lace atop the pour. Fantastic aroma with plenty of toffee and caramel layering on top of the roastyness. Everything comes together nicely in the taste too; bourbon is strong but nicely balanced. Easily the best, most mature brew I've ever tried from St Arnold. Too bad it's only 12oz :(

Had the pleasure of cracking open on these just the other day.
A - poured black with still a slight tan head not many bubbles left after againg.
S - Rich with choclate with a hint of carmled sugars.
T- full of rich sweet choclate lost most of the alcohol tatse to give for a smooth finish.
O - this beer had aged very well and still getting better had everything a great stout should have smooth, bold and sweet flavor
