Poured from a 12oz bottle into a schooner. No obvious best before date on the bottle.
A - clear amber beer with a fluffy tan head that resolves quickly without lacing.
S - not overly fragrant, but it does give off a hint of sweet caramel malt.
T - quite a sweet profile dominated by caramel malt; there is a bit of initial and trailing bitterness but it is dominated by the malt (as you'd expect!)
M - moderately carbonated with a medium body.
D - really drinkable; certainly not overpowering, nor overly sweet.
Decent beer. Very abundant locally in Austin but wouldn't be my first go-to for a mid/lighter style.

A: Light copper brownish color. Thin ring of head
S: Rich malty goodness. Bready. Slightly grainy
T: Caramel. Slight astringency.
Mouth...Aw heck I can't finish this review. It's not a real traditional bock, but it's a good interpretation of it to me. Absolutely delicious and refreshing on a hot Texas day.

12 oz. bottle poured into pilsener
L: burnt orange, crystal clear, pretty awesome tan head full and 1 inch thick; head sadly dissipates quickly and next to no lacing; but the pour is a good one, nice show
S: sweet malt and good yeast beer smell; floral at first ... in fact, that first whiff is great. as i work through it, can almost smell the alcohol (?) ... still, a really good smell.
T: medicinal ... sadly, to a fault. it kills me to give Saint Arnold a bad score, but this taste seems to lack so much; it doesn't taste like it smells to me. there's a slight nuttiness and a sweetness in there somewhere, but not much of it, and the finish is very bland. some grain (?).
F: solid, good weight, mouth-filling carbonation
O: hard for me to review to style because I've had so few bocks. but overall, i'm not a big fan. it looks good, smells good, tastes a little too mediciny and bland with nothing good taking over. it's a balanced bland.
FOOD NOTE: this thing really sweetens and opens up when I drink it with food. I'm not big on pairing food with beer, but this particular brew and a happy accident showed me how sometimes a proper food pairing can help bring out the good flavor notes in the beer -- anything salty seems to help this beer's taste.
