In collaboration with Will and Anders from Sheffield's, this stuff was brewed with rye and aged in third-use oak brandy barrels. Right on. It pours a mostly clear russet-amber topped by a finger of glowing off-cream foam. The nose comprises lightly-toasted rye bread, cocoa, charred oak, and mild brandy (I'd go cheaper with this one, like Christian Bros. or so). The taste holds notes of toasted rye bread, toasted sourdough, light maple syrup, light caramel, pine resin, and charred oak. The body is a light-leaning medium, with a light moderate carbonation and a drying finish. Overall, definitely an interesting beer, one that doesn't overplay its barrel influence (though it may have been nice to have a bit more brandy in there, but hey).
