I picked up a bottle of New Holland's White Hatter last week for $1.69 at The Lager Mill. I'm not a big fan of New Holland's Mad Hatter IPA, but I enjoyed the rye version so I thought I would take a chance on this one, so lets see how it goes. No visible bottling date, but it just showed up recently so I think it's fairly fresh. Poured from a brown 12oz bottle into a Weizen glass.
A- The label looks nice, it's got a good look to it and I like it more than the Mad Hatter label. It poured a hazy yellow color that took on a nice golden hue when held to the light with two fingers worth of white head that died down to a thin ring that left some nice rings of lacing behind. This is a good looking beer, I have no complaints.
S- The aroma starts off with a higher amount of medium sweetness followed by some wheat, orange rinds, and spices with coriander seeming to stick out the most. Up next comes a nice mixture of floral and citrus hops. This beer had a good aroma, it was nicely balanced, it starts off with some nice Belgian Witbier aromas with some nice IPA aromas towards the end, I liked it.
T- The taste seems to be pretty similar to the aroma and it starts off with medium amount of sweetness followed by some wheat, orange rinds, and a lighter amount of spices with coriander still sticking out the most. On the finish there's a medium amount of hops that impart a nice mixture of floral and citrus hop flavors with a medium amount of bitterness and a wheat, orange rind, and floral hop aftertaste. This a good tasting beer that did a great job at representing both styles and keeping them balanced.
M- Smooth, clean, crisp, refreshing, medium bodied, with a medium amount of carbonation. The mouthfeel was good and it worked well with this beer, I have no complaints.
Overall I thought this was a good beer and it was a good example of the style, it had a nice combination of both styles that was kept very balanced which worked out nicely and I thought the hops complemented the base beer nicely. This beer had good drinkability, it was smooth, refreshing, and the flavors did a good job at holding my attention, I wouldn't mind drinking a few of these on a nice summer day, the taste keeps me coming back for more. What I liked the most about this beer was the balance, both styles were represented nicely, they worked well together and seemed to complement each other. There wasn't anything that I disliked about this beer, it was fine just the way it was. I would buy this beer again, I thought it was good and priced nicely and I would recommend it to just about anyone. All in all I was impressed with this beer and it turned out better than I expected and I like it much more than Mad Hatter. This was another good beer from New Holland, keep up the good work guys.

Beer pours a cloudy golden color with two fingers of coarse soapy white head. Good lacing on the glass. Very yeasty nose. The flavor profile doesn't really work. Yeasty funk overwhelms and doesn't allow the more nuanced flavors and spices typical of a wheat beer to shine through. Not terrible, but it clearly misses the mark. Wont be getting this again.

Pours a slightly hazy golden color. A smaller white head sits on top fading to a collar.
Aroma is hoppy and spicy. Some clove perhaps from yeasty esters and fruits.
Taste is dry and tart. Hops give a slight citrus taste along with some spices and chalomile.
Finihes a bit dry and washed out.
Not a bad beer with a desent depth of flavor.

A - Pours light orange small white head good lacing
S - Grapefruit and Hops mostly with a little citrus
T - Delicious, very hoppy but the grapefruit and citrus flavors balance out the bitterness while
keeping the hoppy flavor.
M - Well carbonated, very easy to drink goes down almost as smooth as a shandy
O - Would definitely recommend. If you like Mad Hatter you will enjoy White Hatter. Really hits the spot if you want some hops in your life but arn't feeling the bitterness of an ipa.
