A: Nearly flat. A very slight ring of very fine carbonation around the top, and a few stray bubbles coming up through the otherwise dark brown body. Nearly opaque, but not quite.

S: Booze, chocolate, and raisins. A fair oak/vanilla presence. Pretty nice nose, frankly. Better than I remember, but it's been a while. Almost smells like rum balls or something. No hops.

T: This might be a bit too cold for all the flavors to come through--my fault entirely. However, it's perfectly good. It's not as boozy as it smells, nor as sweet--both pluses, in my book. Noticeable but not overwhelming malt character. Finishes with a bit of bitter malt and round, robust chocolate flavor. Not too sweet, not too dry, well balanced in that respect. The woody oak lingers, too, after resting a minute.

M: The consistency is nice and thick, but it's totally flat, and not in a good, cask-beer way. However, it coats the mouth for a nice, long taste that suits barrel-aged complexity.

D: Fairly high. It's not overwhelming with weird flavors, but enough complexity to ponder. A reasonably priced, well executed, barrel aged beer--hard to ask for more. It's no BCS or Dark Lord, but it's not terribly expensive and readily available.

My review will be misleading perhaps, because I don't like bourbon. And this is a Bourbon Barrel Stout! But in spite of that, I'm going to do my very first review here after a year or so of reading all of everyone else. Mouthfeel is nice and thick but to me, which I love. But that 10% ABV is right up front - as is a bit of that bourbon barrel flavor. Everything about the rest of this beer stands behind that. Not that I don't like my hefty ABV - just I think you have to like bourbon, or at least be warm to it, to really enjoy this one. Still glad I bought it. (Probably the 10% ABV that caused me to write my first review! LOL!)
