Another wheat beer.

I poured this expecting a large fluffy head. NOT. Barely a head, and it doesn't want to hang arround.

Nose is bready with yeast.

Taste is fairly hoppy, yeasty with a little sweetness with citrus rind background.

Unfortunately, there is no or very little citrus bite. Actually it is rather flat tasting. EAsy to drink but just doesn't quite make it.

Poured into a pint glass.

A summer beer from New Holland along the lines of an Oberon, Zoomer caught my attention at Trader Joe's last fall due to the $4.99/6 pack price point. I'm a sucker for value. This is a straight forward witbier. Nice sunny, golden color; citrus nose; sweet, slightly tart taste; crisp mouthfeel; and solid drinkability. No complaints here - just a solid summer ale. Recommended.

Pours a beautiful color of clouded straw/yellow. A small white head forms and then leaves. Nose is mild with minimal funk there. Mild dough. Seems a little boring to me on the nose. Flavor is definitely showing thorough wheat characters. Yeasty funk is there, but not overpowering. Gives a smooth offering. Feel is good on the liquid and has a full carbonation hitting the mouth. Overall this is an easy drinking beer. Smooth and unobtrusive as far as flavors go. Nothing wild here, but nothing bland or mediocre either. Just a smooth and even brew.

Poured out of a 12 ounce bottle into a pint glass.
A: Pours a light amber into the glass. Heavy head that dissipates. Looks clean and refreshing.
S: Yeasty! I pick up on some fruits (raisins and figs).
T: It's a nice ride that is well balanced. Raisins, yeast, malt, then a strong hop finish. As I drink the beer, the hops become more pronounced.
M: Medium with good carbonation throughout.
D: This is a highly drinkable session ale.
Overall, a great beer produced by Mr. Bueltmann. I would gladly pick this up again when I visit Meechigan!

Poured from a 12 oz. bottle. Leaves one finger of a white head that quickly fades to a foam ring at the edge, and there are isolated areas of thin spotty lacing. Body is a cloudy pale straw gold.

Smell - weakly, citrusy wheat malt, unsalted barley saltine crackers, and some spices.

Taste - much like the nose. Weak tastes of citrusy wheat malt and unsalted barley saltine crackers, both washed through with spices, and some faint grassy herbal hops.

Mouthfeel - thin to medium bodied, somewhat effervescent.

Drinkability - this is decent, but not really great. It does work as a summer thirst quencher, so it has got some sessionability, but otherwise I'd want something else after two or so of these.

12 oz brown bottle - not dated

New Holland Zoomer wheat ale poured a light golden orange color with the typical haze that is found in this style. Head is small [for the style], white, and a little thin. Aroma is of very light spice [too light for the style], and some citrus. The body is light and crisp with fine carbonation that tingles the tongue a little. The taste of spices normally found in this style is hard to detect. Zoomer has a hoppy finish “bite” that you usually don’t find in this style.

Not a bad brew, however, there are better American wheat beers available. Zoomer would best be quaffed in the warmer months.

Undated 12 oz bottle

A - Pours a nice hazy light gold color, with a strong very lightly colored head. It retained for quite a while.

S - Very grainy smell - not much spice, hops, or orange peel there. Perhaps some coriander is what would be the secondary taste.

T - This is one of the more tasteless wits I've had. It starts with a bitter wheat malt, and does finish off with a orangy note. Bitterness sticks around far too long for my taste.

M - This thing just feel carbonated, from mouthfeel to stomach. Gets a little tiresome. The beer itself once it blows off some of the CO2 isn't too bad.

D - The knock on drinking this one in a session would be the high carbonation. I can't drink more than 2 at a time before my stomach fights back. I like it as a change of pace from the sweeter wits.

Not my favorite wit by any means, but still glad I picked up the sixer.

Pours a huge, cloudy white head with barely half of the bottle poured. As the head simmered down the color of the beer was a golden straw color that seemed to turn peachy as it warmed up. As the head dissipated it left a decent amount of lacing.

For the smell, I picked up a lot of wheat (of course). Yeast was there as it really smelled like a fresh loaf of white bread. I picked up a clove smell also.

This is a light bodied beer with a somewhat harsh after taste. I did not expect this from a witbier. As soon as you take a sip, you feel like you have bitten into a peel of something citrus. I can also detect some sweetness of the malt, however, I can also detect the hint of pepper that other describe.

I feel the carbonation as it goes down and it leaves that hops aftertaste. Kind fop watery.

I didn't expect that taste I got from from this particular Witbier. But I realize that it is yet another person's influence on the Type. Not my favorite but I would drink it again it offered.

Pours an opaque, golden-white in color, and appears to be well-carbonated. The head is a creamy, frothy off-white, and it sticks around for a while after the pour, accompanied by some clingy, sticky lace around the edge of the glass. The nose is what I expect in the style, and while it isn't exactly muted, its chewy, bready character is punctuated at intervals with spice and a perfume-like quality. On the tongue it's yeasty, with banana and clove notes appearing at the fore, only to be subsumed by the bready, chewy characteristics of the wheat and pale malts. This is also a lot drier than I'd expected, and with a good deal of bitterness throughout - more bitterness than I can remember having encountered in the style, in fact. Stylistically it seems like a grafting of the witbier style onto an American Pale Wheat template, and it actually works quite well here. Despite the spiciness there's a confluence of both fruit and vegetable here that's very appealing with notes of green apple and summer squash, alongside a gently tangy character that peaks its head out before the dry, bitter, lingering finish. Too full of character to be 'pound-able' as such, it's still a great summer sipper, and is working like magic on a very hot day in October.

Tried this one on-tap in a 32oz. mug for 2.50 on special that week. Who could go wrong with that? A very hazy, cloudy, soft orange color with not much head. The aroma was a bit tart and fruity, but the flavor was even more so. Some lemony and orangey tastes come through, definitly making this a fruity wheat beer. Really quite refreshing, maybe lacks an excellent mouthfeel that some of its peers have, but all in all a pretty darned good summer beer. There are better ones, but theres a lot more that arent as good as this.

Pours an "ultra light", association intended, cloudy straw color with a full finger fluffy white head that resists fading. A decent amount of lacing. The smell is timid. This one may be slightly oxidized (a little cardboard go'in on), but otherwise smelling unexpectedly sweeter and a little doughy..not as crisp as anticipated. Medium bodied, the mouth feel is well carbonated; the light crispness comes through in the mouth. The flavor is light citrus bitter, but you get the wheat in the exhale. It finishes a little dry with a lingering bitterness on the tongue. Looks like the packaging has changed substantially to a real Adirondack summer icon on the label. I'm not a big wheat fan. My current favorite is Uber Sun.

Appearance - Cloudy orange/yellow color, a four finger head that goes away pretty quickly.

Smell - To be honest, smells more like a less-than-strong house cleaner, not much to it.

Taste - Average, lacks body, too lemony. However, still better than most macrobrews.

Mouthfeel - average, very carbonated.

Drinkability - Not something I would buy again.

Appearance - fills up the glass with four fingers of off-white foam. The bottle swirling adds some cloudiness to the lemon yellow beer, and there's still an impressive yeast ring left at the bottom of the bottle. The head forms up higher than the glass by about one finger, then slowly falls back.

Aroma - fresh grain, light yeast. A little on the plain side but it does smell fresh.

Taste - the tanginess hits before anything else. Tart, lemony. With the yeast it almost emulates that sour funk that I don't care for, but it doesn't quite get there. Some wheat character shows up but its on the downward side of the taste. Finishes with a sour lemon rind flavor. Not to my personal liking.

Mouthfeel - light smoothness, lots of carbonation, a lighter feeling beer.

Drinkability - in short, not for me.

Zoomer's label TOTALLY reminds me of relaxing summer days. The beach chair, the colors. It totally speaks to me. What's inside the bottle though doesn't so much. A citrus and slight doughy wheat aroma had me expecting a bit more in it's taste (especially after digging the Mad Hatter) but it is too light. I have a problem with Wit's when they seem really watered down and try to make up with it with too much "summer" flavoring. The taste here is that of reconstituted Lemon juice being dumped into a bottle of Peligrino something. Don't get me wrong I find a glass of mineral water with a slice of lemon effervescent and refreshing, but dammit, I'm drinking a beer not sitting in a kitchen and discussing next year's family reunion plans with my Aunt Eleanor.

On-tap at the Charleston...

Pours like pulpy, peach-orange juice. A shade lighter than real OJ. A few spots of lacing linger after the glass sits for a minute. The small amount of head fades to a ring around the glass. When swirled, there's a big coriander spice aroma. Muted wheat and citrus in the background.

Wheaty and smooth feel, pale malts, coriander, with a sort of dull earthiness. It feels a little too heavy on the palate, and dries out in the finish. One pint was easy to consume, two maybe on a hot day. Not my favorite Wit though...

Aroma: Light white pepper notes, lemon rind, some light cloves all blend nicely and pop out of the glass.

Appearance: Very cloudy straw yellow with a meringue-like white head. Vibrant carbonation is eveident throughout the beer.

Flavor: Wheat bread, light peppery notes, light clove flavors, and white bread crust. Finish is very clean and light.

Mouthfeel: Medium-light bodied with effervescent carbonation. Spritzy carbonation that livens the palate.

Overall impression: Great summer drinking. Mild mannered in terms of the flavor. Not as heavily spiced as other witbiers that I've tried. Very clean and refreshing.

Sporting a newer label than what's pictured here, the new one has a summer deck chair soaked in sun okay crack this baby. Appears a clouded hazy lemonade yellow golden hue forms a large soapy white head bubbles rise above the glass with good retention leaves thin uneven lacing behind. Aroma contains bread like mildly spiced yeast profile mild citrus peel low grade herbal hop bouqet, prett much the yeast breadiness stands out here with some sharp wheat accents arising as well. Flavor contains some sharp citrus bitter zest with spciy corainder offerings blended nice together while their bready yeast chalky aspect doesn't accomplish what other wits do for me with authentic Belgian yeast strains, really bready spiciness with a finishing herbal hop character. Mouthfeel is light to medium bodied some yeasty protein dregs are noted in teh texture here carbonation is a bit spritzy like the style usually is so this works. Drinkability great for summer I was refreshed after my portion it didn't over do the coriander my complaint with many American brewed wits but my gripe with the yeast strain here made this offering much more powdered yeast cake flavor than should come through but I was able to overlook this and give it a try.

A: Chunky, thick, non see thru with no head and little lace, like unfiltered grapefruit and OJ mixed. Good start.

S: Wow, this smells like orange juice a bit, very citrusy and a note from the alcohol. Very appetizing.

M: A bit bitter on the swallow, the watered down OJ seems to have the most punch with an odd aftertaste, almost licorice. Things going South quick.

T: Watery OJ. That's the biggest taste. It mellowed a bit so you could taste the wheat as it warmed but the fakeness and faintness of the Juicy Fruit effect of this beer seemed to make it less than advertised. It is less of a WIT and less of a Wheat, doing neither well.

D: Okay, at least it was a drinkable beverage giving more thrills than your average beer, but I like a little more decided taste when I want a WIT or a Wheat.

Pours with as much head as I've seen in a bottled beer of any type for a long time. I ended up pouring this one in three stages, as it took quite a while for the bubbly, nearly white head to collapse into a sticky foam. Golden yellow, going from hazy to cloudy, as the yeasty sediment weaves in waves through the glass while the heavier stuff settles. Light grains and lemon and orange notes are the mainstays of the crisp nose with a little spice present too. The citrus flavor carries over especially strongly to the taste, where the tartness is pleasant throughout but comes at the expense of the grains. The resulting mouthfeel is crisp and tart, lacking any malty smooth complement. Like a witbier sans with a lemon wedge added, but I'd rather have the choice of leaving it out.

Poured a cloudy bright amber-orange color with moderate white puffy head.
Smell is notable for wheat and yeast, but not much in the way of spices or fruit.
Taste is sharply hoppy and tends to drown out any other vlavor sensations.
Finishes with a strong dry bitternes that leads to a distinct lack of refreshment.
A bit of a dissapointment. Too dry for my taste.

Got this as an extra from Finger Lakes Beverage :)

12 oz.bottle poured into a nonic.

Pours a hazy straw color with a fluffy one finger head that dies down to almost nothing. Stickiness is pretty spotty on the side of the glass. Smell is a very weak lemon with very nice wheat scents. Expecting a bit stronger in the nose, but still appealing. Taste is much like the smell. Crisp mellow lemon hop balanced out well with the pale malt. Aftertaste is a bit blah, nothing really there. Mouthfeel is light to medium bodied with a fair amount of carbonation. Quite refreshing for a warm summer day. I could definitely put a few of these down easily. Taste could use some work, but still a good job overall for a solid summer time brew.

Zoomer pours out a hazy lemon yellow, nice white head since I poured aggressively. Lots of yeasies on the bottom of this bottle conditioned brew.

Note of soapy wheat malts in the aroma, taste is extremely smooth and malty. No off tastes or special notes, just your garden variety wheat ale. “Honey” printed on the inside of the cap gives a clue to some ingredients.

Should be a winner for lighter drinkers or summer session
enthusiastic types.

I also see they changed the label, it now has a wooden summer deck chair sitting alone in the sun.

On tap at Ashley's in Ann Arbor over the weekend, poured a hazed straw color with hint of peach hue a thin white head atop.Mild toasted wheat malt in the nose very light citric orange as well, dryer flavors with toasty wheat being in the forefront there is a citric hop presence in the finish though that you dont see in many beers of the style that others have noticed on their reviews. All in all a little boring a summer no brainer I guess here.

Hazy,straw/yellowy/lt. golden color looked different from top to bottom of glass.A slight white head dissapated very quickly to almost nothing. Very little carbination just some spotty lacing from swirling the glass.

Very clean aroma, slight citrus with very light doughyness and very slight wheat aromas.

Very clean taste, watery with a good crisp citrus peel finish. The finish was the best part of the beer, very bland overall.

Light and tangy mouthfeel. Refreshing easy to drink, lacking in taste, not enough here to make me want to keep drinking it.

The brew pouring forth at the opening of the bottle looked like lemon juice. In the glass it made for a very cloudy, pale straw color with not a lot of head, but what was there had decent retention. The aroma is sort of what I expected - wheat and citrus, especially lemon. Nice. The flavor is also wheaty, a little zesty, with a lingering dry finish that I tired of after awhile. For such a lighter brew the mouthfeel was satisfying, with just the right texture for this brew - not too thick, but not waifish either. Overall, it goes down quite easily and is quite suitable for the lounge chair on the label.
