Our classic Pale Ale, with Michigan grown, cascade hops. Bright hoppiness and pleasant aromatics framed with balancing sweetness of pale malts.

From the tap this pours with a light gold tan tinge. Lightly hopped, with a slightly bready note. Easy drinking, with just enough character to keep it interesting.

Pours a medium brown color with a minimal head that disappears quickly. Aroma is lemon and citrus. Tastes of lemon and grapefruit. Starts sweet but finishes a bit hoppy.

Bears!

A golden honey amber color starts this one off...with a tall, fluffy 3 fingered head. 80% opaque made up of haze and sediment.

I get typical faint IPA aromas on the nose...halved orange, pale malts, pine, hop oils. Not particularly loud or interesting.

Flavor is mostly pine with a cracker backing. The finish is rather heavy with hop oil but only in flavor, not in feel (a positive). Some bread soaked in pine juice remains.

Feel is pretty darn creamy, and also sustains a taut carbonation as well. Great drinker, this one.

Overall I think next time I'll take a pass on Paleooza. It was one I hadn't had before, and it's really nothing special - even though it never claimed to be. It's a little less than decent.

Beer was dated using the mysterious secret decoder ring code. I knew it was old since it was marked down, but I took a shot anyway. Looked up the code: bottled March 24, 2015, so a year old. Keep this in mind in reading the review. Massive foam eruption on opening 4 of the 6 beers in the 6 pack, making a mess the first time in that it overlowed my Imperial pint glass. Aroma a mixture of fruit, vegetable, and bread, no hops. Super large thick, creamy, white head that recedes slowly. Hazy golden amber with heavy carbonation. Some small floaties visible. Good mouth feel for the pale ale style; excellent and thicker than expected for a low ABV pale. With lots of malt presence, the initial taste is fruit/vegetable with bread (like the aroma) sustaining through the middle, with a slight bittering asserting in the finish. Finishes dry and clean. The fruit/vege taste is front and center in this beer. It is not a citrus taste, but more of a melon taste combnied with green vegetables. Not unpleasant, but not standard for a pale ale. On the positive, this beer has substantial malt presence even though it is low ABV and billed as a session ale. Fresh, this probably would have been much better.
