Off-white head sits atop this burnt orange colored brew.
Aroma of biscuity, caramel malt and grassy, earthy hops.

Taste shows a grassy, earthy hop profile. Biscuity, caramel malt. Some resinous hop oil lingers at the finish.

Good body to the somewhat creamy mouthfeel.
Good drinkability.
Overall, a solid pale ale. Brewed with Cascade hops per the bottle, but I didn't sense the usual Cascade hop profile I'm accustomed to. Thanks to TwelveVoltMan for the bottle!

New Holland brings back an old staple... Paleooza pours a mildly turbid orange-ish and amber color that cascades from top to bottom. A somewhat aggressive pour yields a huge, three-finger eggshell colored foam cap; creamy, thick, and long lasting as it slowly recesses towards the beer-head division line, lacing webs along the glass all the way down.

Cascade hops they give and Cascade hops you get. The nose is ever-mild while retaining all of the expected characteristics of Cascade hops. Mild grapefruit and citrus peels, light white pepper spice, and some mild floral and herbal notes. The malt errs on the darker-side relative to many pale ales as evidenced by the color of the brew, as well as the light caramel and heavy toasted bread notes in the aroma.

The malts are actually the first discernible ingredient from the flavor profile as Paleooza first hits my palate. Very light, toasty caramel notes and a blanket of bread and grains. The hops aren't far behind, and remain as "Cascade-y" in the flavor as they were in the aroma. Somewhat bitter grapefruit peel and citrus pith with just a touch of sweet, fruit juiciness.

Herbal notes and the spicy aspect of the Cascade hops are more abundant on the palate as well, giving lots of white pepper and some ashy dryness that aids in the robustness of the hop profile. Though the bitterness is noticeable much of the way though, the malts counter-balance nicely and the beer remains fairly mild and easy-drinking overall. The mouth feel is kind of thin and slick with a thin-medium body and medium carbonation.

Not too much to say about this one; it didn't really blow me away but it wasn't disappointing or anything at all either. Fairly neutral and actually very well balanced. A solid pale ale effort from New Holland, although they have a few beers I'd reach for before I picked this one up again.

I picked up a four pack of New Hollands Paleooza a few days ago for $8.79 at Meijer's. I haven't seen this one around before and I'm pretty sure this is the first time New Holland has bottled this beer, so I decided to take a chance on it, lets see how it goes. No visible bottling date, but it just showed up so I'm sure it's fairly fresh. Poured from a brown 12oz bottle into an imperial pint glass.

A- The Label looks ok, but it could look better, I'm not really sure what makes a Michigan Pale Ale different from an American Pale Ale, but it seems like they are just using that to help market the beer. It poured a slightly hazy darker golden color that took on some amber hues when held to the light with two fingers worth of dense white head that died down to a thin ring that stayed till the end and left a good amount of lacing behind. This is a good looking beer, the color is little dark for the style, but the head and lacing were really nice.

S- The aroma starts off with a lower amount of sweetness followed by some grainy and bready malts that had a slight caramel malt aroma to them and there was also a slight metallic aroma in the background. Up next comes hops that are nice mixture of floral, piney and ctirus hops aromas that's on the medium side with grapefruit and floral pine aromas sticking out the most. This beer had a nice aroma, it was pretty balanced, but it would be better without the slight metallic aroma.

T- The taste seems to be fairly similar to the aroma and it starts off with a lower amount of medium sweetness followed by some grainy and bready malts with a slight nutty taste in the background. Up next comes the hops which impart some floral and citrus hops that were a little on the lighter side and they imparted a medium amount of bitterness with a grainy and floral hop like aftertaste. The taste is nice, it's pretty balanced and it's not overly bitter.

M- Fairly smooth, clean, crisp, slightly refreshing, on the lighter side of being medium bodied with a good amount of medium carbonation. The mouthfeel was nice and it worked well with this beer.

Overall I thought this was decent beer and a solid example of the style, it had some nice balance to it that often get neglected in most new American Pale Ales and I thought that was a pretty redeeming quality. This beer had ok drinkability, it was fairly smooth and slightly refreshing, but the flavors didn't do the best of holding my attention, I could probably drink a couple of these, but I don't think that's something I would choose to do, there's many other APA's I would rather session. What I liked the most about this beer was the balance, no aspect was to overpowering and the bitterness was at just the right level. What I liked the least about this beer was that it comes in a four pack, I think it should be in a six pack, Pale Ales like this generally don't get the four pack treatment and this one shouldn't either. I don't think I would buy this beer again, it's not a good value and the packaging really isn't conducive to the style, but I do recommend it to anyone who likes the style. All in all I thought this was a Solid APA, but it's nothing special and it doesn't warrant being put in the four pack. It's not a bad beer by any means, it just not something I would buy on a regular basis and I think New Holland could have marketed this beer much better, it's solid but there's room from improvement.

I haven't had anything from New Holland in a long time, pours deep golden, mild haze with a foamy, white head, good retention & thick lacing at the top of the glass as the head fades. Citrusy, cascade hop nose, (I always find them to be a bit soapy in aroma & flavor), bready, caramel malt. Tastes are sweet caramel, bread crust, toasty grain, pungent grapefruit rind, faint orange rind. Mouth-feel is creamy & smooth, nearly full bodied, pungent hops linger with some astringency on the finish. Nice balanced APA with good flavors.

A - Poured a deep orange possible copper with a light foamy head.
S - kind of bland, malt
T - Malt and sweetness is the first thing I notice. A little citrus hop and bitter finish
M - medium body.
O - A good pale ale, May have been a little bit older bottle.
