Yellow color beer, 1" off white head, the liquid has a good degree of clarity to it. The smell is lacking of dry hopping or hop character. If anything, its more herbal than hoppy.

The flavor is pretty much bland biscuit malt. Some cascade hops are used, sparingly. Gives off the faintest hint of citrus and bitterness. Tea like notes picked up. Carbonation was a little lazy. Not digging the herbal tea floral components of this one, just want hops and some malt please.

Mouthfeel was just same minor grapefruit notes, and grandma's tea. I liked a few of these guys beers, but this one just is as blase as pale ales get. Not bad, but not good.

I haven't had anything from New Holland in a long time, pours deep golden, mild haze with a foamy, white head, good retention & thick lacing at the top of the glass as the head fades. Citrusy, cascade hop nose, (I always find them to be a bit soapy in aroma & flavor), bready, caramel malt. Tastes are sweet caramel, bread crust, toasty grain, pungent grapefruit rind, faint orange rind. Mouth-feel is creamy & smooth, nearly full bodied, pungent hops linger with some astringency on the finish. Nice balanced APA with good flavors.

I don't know what a Michigan pale ale is supposed to taste like. But this one tastes a lot like an English pale ale. There is a minimal hop influence going on here. Fairly strong malt base, but not obnoxious. This is pretty well balanced.

10 years ago this may have seemed interesting. Today, I think people will consider it pedestrian.

Resurrected from the days of old, New Holland reaches into the coffers of early days and pulls out Paleooza- a well-balanced American Pale Ale that hits the moderate stride of the style with consistency and a great deal of satisfaction.

Starting with the stalwart appearance of slightly hazed copper, the ale builds a frothy ivory-stained foam. With solid staying power and broken lace, the beer casts the quintessential look of American Pale Ale.

Balanced aromas of hops and malt align on the nose, neither allowing the other to pull ahead. The result is a scent of caramel-soaked citrus fruits, toasted barley, pecan, and straight-up Grapenuts cereal.

On cue, the taste does similarly as the malt sweetness lays on the early palate with the caramel taste that slowly develops into a grainy-sweet balance late. Layered upon the malts are the hop contributions- white grapefruit, citrus peel, and soft pine notes to balance the beer mid-palate. With very little influence from fruit notes or spices, the taste is all about the even-keel balance of hops to malt.

Medium bodied through and through, the soft carbonation rises from residual malt textures for a creamy upstart but a malty-dry finish that's accentuated by moderate hop resins, alcohol warmth, and trailing sweetness.

I can see where Paleooza would have been the epitome of Pale in the early New Holland days. Where the ale falls to simply another well made ale, it does little to remain memorable. Nevertheless, the beer is a pleasant and refreshing ale that's well suited for a vast array of American cuisine.

Pours with a hazy complexion and amber in color. The lingering head is small.
Aroma is mostly grains and malts, not much in way of malts.
Taste is unflavorful and bland with raw grains and some malts. The ending is a sharp bitterness.
To me it was a rather boring beer that lacked flavor,

Pours a nice dark gold in color with an almost off-white head. Highly carbonated with constant fine bubbles throughout the sample.

Aromas of grain, grass, orange, hay and slight must

Flavor is very well balanced. Nice mouthfeel with very pleasant bitterness. Earthy hop flavor, biscuit, bread, tangerine

Overall - Very nice and drinkable pale. Very sessionable, full of flavor and aroma. Well done

12 ounce bottle into pint glass, bottled on 2/15/2013. Pours moderately cloudy golden orange color with a 1-2 finger dense off white head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass, with plenty of streaming carbonation retaining the head. Aromas of orange zest, grapefruit, peach, lemon zest, floral, light pine, caramel, biscuit, and light nuttiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of hop and malt notes. Taste of orange zest, grapefruit, pine, lemon zest, floral, caramel, biscuit, light nuttiness, and floral earthiness. Moderate pine bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of citrus, pine, floral, caramel, biscuit, and floral earthiness on the finish for a bit. Very nice complexity of hop and malt flavor; with a great hop/malt flavor balance; and zero cloying flavors present after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a lightly creamy, crisp, and slightly sticky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with hardly any warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a very nice pale ale. Nice hop/malt balance and complexity; very smooth and crisp to drink. A very enjoyable offering.

Pours a brilliant copper with a frothy one inch fairly dense head that lingers, eventually leaving a coating of sticky lacing as it dissipates.

Grain is the predominant aroma, accompanied by pine late, and a metallic note. Slightly bready and floral.

Flavor reveals a deeply toasted, nutty malt backbone, with citrus at the base and a lightly bitter finish. Citrus and floral hops become more predominant, with lemon and perfume countering the initial malt dominance. The finish is fairly earthy.

Body is moderate, with fairly high carbonation. The head on this beer never goes away completely.

A very drinkable pale ale, with one note hop flavoring and a good amount of malt character and bittering. Perhaps a little toasty for the style. Carbonation is a little odd, though.
