Found a 3/28/08 bottle at a local Russian store. 11.2 oz bottle, showing 6% ABV.

A: Beautiful golden haze with nice lace, didn't dissipate.

S: Slightly citrus, faint banana

T: Citrus & yeast & candy sugar

M: Bit thin, but not uncommon for a triple

O: I am sure age did this one well reading the prior reviews...think I paid $3.50 for it, well worth the price and a good brown bagger at a tasting.

750ml bottle with a best by date of 24/5/09 on the back of it.

A- golden yellow colored body with a finger and a half of tightly formed white head. lots of yeast in the glass, and a rush of carbonation to the top. the head lasts a while, and leaves its mark on the sides of the glass.

S- belgian yeast, banana and clove. maybe some apple or pear as well. nothing fantastic about this, but nothing wrong either.

T- alot the way it smells. lots of yeast and spices. some summer fruit notes. again, nothing awe inspiring here. they did a great job of hiding the alcohol, its not noticeable at all.

M- extremely high carbonation that almost stings. slight warming from the alcohol on its way down.

D- one bottle was enough. nothing too different or exciting about this one.

The aroma is floral, yeasty, citrusy, peppery, and malty. The appearance is golden with some haze and a nice foamy head. The flavor is like the aroma. The palate is smooth but not thick. I like this one because it is robust and complex. I would have another one.

Bought a 750ml of this from Fairgrounds Wine and Liquors in Danbury, CT.

The appearance is a yellow color with a two finger head.
The smell is sweet, with some hints of vanilla and sugar.
Taste is smooth and easy, kind of refreshing.
The mouthfeel is somewhat bland, but the sweetness lingers.

This is a pretty good tripel, but not an exceptional tripel.

Poured from the bottle a fizzy peach yellow with a fast fading white head and lots of little floaties.

Slightly tart aroma of Belgian yeast, lemon zest, biscuit, and candy sugar.

Taste is much like the aroma with candy sugar, biscuit, and light lemon. The alcohol is well hidden.

Light bodied, dry and quite fizzy.

A solid tripel from Brasserie Val De Sambre but not outstanding. Definitely worthy of a try.

750ml bottle shared courtesy of jasonmech77 (Heylissem label).

Poured a lighter and clear yellow color with a small sized white head. Aromas and tastes of citrus, spices, and fruity. Some yeast. I wrote down that I found this one to be 'boring'. Fizzy and carbonated body.

Notes from and tasted on 7/18/07.

Cork gets blown off and it takes forever to pour a white head that fades very slowly to a thin layer, leaving a good lace. Almost clear amber color. Very good carbonation and medium bodied. Dry malty nose. Flavor is sweet but citric with spices. Smooth. $9.99 for a 750ml bottle from Manchester Wine and Liquors Manchester, CT. Best by May 6, 2008.

750 ml bottle.

Poured a cloudy straw color into a big burgundy glass with a wide mouth. Mild head that settles down into a ring.

Smell is pretty yeasty and almost like wheat beer, but without the banana notes.

Taste is a bit ho-hum. Some corriander, yeast, not really much in the way of hops.

Mouthfeel is also less than inspiring, being a bit watery and lacking in carbonation.

However, drinkability is quite high. You can chug this stuff!

This would be a great Belgian blonde to drink done at a hot day at a BBQ. But in other ways, it's a pretty run of the mill blonde.

Part of NEPA BC split #13.

Pours a pale yellow color, crystal clear with a big and foamy near white head. Head is somewhat fizzy and recedes to a bubbly sort of lace and leaves some stick on the sides.

Smell has some pale malt sweetness, little bit of yeast and lemon, bit of spice. It's on the mark for a tripel but but terribly robust or interesting, either.

Much like the smell the flavor is on target, but it doesn't pack a whole lot of punch and is a bit watery even. Some lemon and maybe a bit of apple, little bit of spice, nice underlying malt sweetness, but it finishes sort of bland and thin. Mouthfeel is a medium body but it is a bit on the watery side. Carbonation was a bit too spritzy and aggressive, as well. Somewhat drying through the finish.

Not bad, but nothing special either. There is certainly nothing offensive about this brew, but nothing really stands out.

02/02/08- Purchased at Bottle Barn in Santa Rosa, CA.

Presentation- 750ml bottle both caged and corked. A best by date is stamped on the back label. Poured into my Duvel tulip.

Appearance- Straw golden colored pour with a good bit of cloudyness. Larger one inch plus large bubbled head...a good portion stays around for the endurance. Very little lacing though.

Smell- A slight bit of metal with a pinch of clove and some candied sweetness.

Taste- Fortunately the metal really wasn't there in the flavor. Mild powdered sugar sweetness with some clove and corriander. A bit bready in the yeast department.

Mouthfeel- Quite carbonated and a fuller mouthfeel.

Drinkability- Ehhh, could have this again or could be fine if I didn't. Quite the average beer at best per style.

Lemony gold with a Belgianesque amount of fine carbonation feeding a large, oyster shell colored cap. This isn't the stunner that one often sees from a Belgian brewer, but it's an attractive enough ale. More lace would be nice.

Even though there's nothing wrong with it, the nose is less than compelling. All the usual suspects are present (lightly sweet golden fruit and spice), but they lack the complexity and depth that are present in the best tripels. Here's hoping things turn out differently when it comes to the taste buds.

If you want a relatively simple tripel that tastes like it was created by a novice brewer who has potential, but who hasn't quite figured it all out yet, here you go. A brief flash of metal (odd for a corked beer) fades by the third mouthful. This isn't bad beer by any means, but there are dozens upon dozens of superior versions out there.

The orchard fruity sweetness is nicely balanced by a ground clove spiciness that tells me a pretty decent yeast strain was employed. Unfortunately, it's a thin band of flavor rather than a wide swath that allows one to duck and weave among the individual components. More depth please.

The mouthfeel favors medium over light and is less than abundantly carbonated. I wasn't impressed by the mouthfeels on several other Brasserie Val De Sambre beers and I'm not impressed by this one. A little creaminess would go a long way.

Heylissem Triple Blonde Sur Lie isn't an especially good tripel, but it is drinkable for someone who enjoys the style. I still can't recommend it and won't be buying another bottle.
