22oz from "Lifesource" in Salem OR. $4.99 Dark brown in colour with ruby accents ,with a large rocky, bubbly tan head. Piney, resiny hop aromas..with a good toasted malt backing..nice. Hops are more fruity then resiny in the taste and balanced by some nice coffee/dark chocolate malts..well balanced but not boring at all. Well balanced also in the mouth feel..nice and smooth low to medium carbonation. Nice CDA.

Appearance- Pours up a whole bunch of head which looks to have sluggish dissipation. The head is light and creamy beige/malted milk ball while the body is somewhat light for a CBA. Light chestnut brown mixed with maroon that appears as dark amber/maroon when held up to the light.

Nose- Starts off with strong citrus from the bottle. This is much lighter from the glass. Shows orange, lemon, and some grapefruit which moves into a slight mustiness that then moves to subtle roasted notes. The glass shows a very clean, mostly lemon aroma. Swirling reveals some mustiness, grapefruit, and pine and resin.

Taste- The subtlety of the nose carries over to the palate. Definite citrus notes on the front (orange, lemon, grapefruit) which move to a middle which shows mild roasted notes (with some hint of coffee) that blend with the slight pine and resin of the finish. This is very subtle for 68 IBUs. I generally expect brighter citrus notes and more pronounced coffee notes from a CDA but this is still pretty good. It's quite accessible and has good balance and integration. Slight touch of peach. Lacks presence but this is pretty forgivable considering the almost perfect balance of hops and roasted malts. I don't think this beer will wow anyone (at least, not any beer nerds) but it is very competent. Solid, good beer with suggestions of being a really good beer. I would increase both the hop profile and malt bill to make it a little bigger, but not by much. Still, solid good beer. Not surprising because while the brewery is new, the brewer isn't. I look forward to enjoying more of Ecliptic's beers.

Mouthfeel- Almost medium bodied with mild syrup and the right touch of carbonation. It finishes dry such that beer doesn't have much linger.

Drinkability- Very easygoing for 68 IBUs. Price is good at 5 bucks a bomber but I probably wouldn't buy this again. I will try more Ecliptic beers though.

Overall- Solid, good beer. Doesn't do anything amazing; it's just a straightforward and competent expression of the style. Worth a try.
