22 oz bomber. The brew pours a solid brown color with a finger of tan head over top that falls to a half finger. Clarity is moderate and there are few bubbles hitting the surface. The aroma is solid coffee with a milder chocolage and a hint of caramel sweetness with a hint of creamyness as well. Pretty solid. Flavor is very nice. It hits first with a mild ground coffee followed by a solid roasted malt that lends notes of bitter chocolate followed with a mild pine hop, that moves into a nice bitter mocha flavor. I enjoy how the coffee bookends the rest of the flavors. Mouthfeel is moderate with a moderate carbonation that works well with the brew. Overall, I am a fan of this one. I really like how the coffee blends with the beer and doesn't dominate it. It has a nice balance throughout. I've enjoyed this one every time I have had it and this is no exception.

Served on nitro-tap at The Lower Depths in Boston, MA
A: Pours an opaque yet clear very dark brown (almost black) in color with light amounts of gentle visible carbonation along with cola brown, garnet red, and very dark amber highlights. The beer has a two finger tall dense creamy light tan head that slowly reduces to a thick film covering the entire surface of the beer and a slightly thicker ring at the edges of the glass. Moderate to significant amounts of lacing are observed.
S: Moderate aromas of roasted coffee over the top of slightly lighter roasted malts. Light hints of bittersweet chocolate are present as well.
T: Upfront there are moderate to strong flavors of dark roasted malts and coffee. Underneath there is a lighter presence of bittersweet chocolate and hints of vanilla. Moderate amounts of bitterness which fade after a short amount of time.
M: Slightly heavier than medium bodied with light to moderate amounts of carbonation. Creamy.
O: I am a big fan of this beer on-nitro - it does not appear to suffer the thinness of the body that others observed when being poured on nitro (it was just downright creamy). Lovely flavors of coffee come through but are not overpowering (even had a buddy that does not really like coffee agree that this one was great).

You definitely need to know before you drink this beer that it tastes a lot like coffee. Coffee is the first thing you will taste, a little dry and bitter: that being said, is that why you bought the Coffeehouse Porter in the first place? Lol. Other than that when it pours you get a tan head and its got a great porter/coffee smell. Unfortunately I was drinking it at a colder temperature than I would have liked and I was also STUFFED when I drank it but I will definitely go back for another bottle of this

Best by 07/11/2013:
Into a nonic:
A: dark brown/black body with a two finger foamy white head rises and gently subsides leaving some nice lightly foamy clingy lacing that eventually spider webs a bit
S: espresso coffee, light chocolate, some vanilla comes out as the beer warms
T: bittersweet through the coffee and chocolate, vanilla is way more subdued, malty aftertaste
M: medium to heavy, rich and smooth, sticky sweet finish, not as sessionable
O: probably one of the heavier porters out there, I still liked it, coffee forward - yes, but also has some nice complexities that come out to play, under-rated company - yes, awesome price $3.99 for a bomber

date of tasting: 3/24/2013
place of tasting: My living room
beer: Dean’s Beans Coffeehouse Porter
brewery: Berkshire Brewing
brewery location: South Deerfield, MA
type: Ale
style: Porter
abv: 6.2%
ibu: 36
glass: mason jar
temperature of beer: 55F
Appearance: looks like rich roasted dark coffee, head looks like a fine crema on an espresso
Smell: fruity slightly acidic coffee (kenyan), Dove milk chocolate, bourbon vanilla and a slight hint of lilly flowers
Taste: not as complex as i hoped with the amazing nose. plenty of coffee and rich malty sweetness, the hops provide the perfect balance, there is also a cool little sarsaparilla thing going on that plays nicely with the carbonation. the flavor lingers and fades to a glorious malty mocha finish
Mouthfeel: heavy bodied and chewy
Overall Impression: great beer, if it had caffeine I’d consider replacing my mornin’ Joe.
Food Pairings: flourless chocolate cake with some kind of vanilla bourbon cream. really thick hearty stew made with a porter preferably. Fondue.
