(A) Pours dark maroon, almost brown. Totally opaque. Has a very thin head on it.

(S) There is something different going on in the aroma, I still can't quite put my finger on what it is. Smells of coffee, but almost with a bit of chai in it. A bit like old coffee grounds and toasted grains. Some biscuit.

(T) The flavor has a lot of the java and coffee flavors in it. A decent blend of mocha, coffee, roasted malts, cereal, bread, and a bit of caramel.

(M) It's on the lighter side of full body. Ends really dry, almost chalky.

(O) It's good, but it's got a weird smell and flavor (amongst all of the notable and good flavors) that I can't figure out. Almost like a bit of funk in there. It's weird, but a pretty good brew.

A: deep dark copper color, nice creamy head
S: deep roasted malt, chocolate with a hint of coffee
T: roasted malt and coffee undertones up front, some balanced bitterness in finish with slight bitterness from coffee, a bit thin in taste
M: surprisingly thin considering the robustness of the nose

Served on nitro-tap at The Lower Depths in Boston, MA

A: Pours an opaque yet clear very dark brown (almost black) in color with light amounts of gentle visible carbonation along with cola brown, garnet red, and very dark amber highlights. The beer has a two finger tall dense creamy light tan head that slowly reduces to a thick film covering the entire surface of the beer and a slightly thicker ring at the edges of the glass. Moderate to significant amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Moderate aromas of roasted coffee over the top of slightly lighter roasted malts. Light hints of bittersweet chocolate are present as well.

T: Upfront there are moderate to strong flavors of dark roasted malts and coffee. Underneath there is a lighter presence of bittersweet chocolate and hints of vanilla. Moderate amounts of bitterness which fade after a short amount of time.

M: Slightly heavier than medium bodied with light to moderate amounts of carbonation. Creamy.

O: I am a big fan of this beer on-nitro - it does not appear to suffer the thinness of the body that others observed when being poured on nitro (it was just downright creamy). Lovely flavors of coffee come through but are not overpowering (even had a buddy that does not really like coffee agree that this one was great).

You definitely need to know before you drink this beer that it tastes a lot like coffee. Coffee is the first thing you will taste, a little dry and bitter: that being said, is that why you bought the Coffeehouse Porter in the first place? Lol. Other than that when it pours you get a tan head and its got a great porter/coffee smell. Unfortunately I was drinking it at a colder temperature than I would have liked and I was also STUFFED when I drank it but I will definitely go back for another bottle of this

Best by 07/11/2013:

Into a nonic:

A: dark brown/black body with a two finger foamy white head rises and gently subsides leaving some nice lightly foamy clingy lacing that eventually spider webs a bit

S: espresso coffee, light chocolate, some vanilla comes out as the beer warms

T: bittersweet through the coffee and chocolate, vanilla is way more subdued, malty aftertaste

M: medium to heavy, rich and smooth, sticky sweet finish, not as sessionable

O: probably one of the heavier porters out there, I still liked it, coffee forward - yes, but also has some nice complexities that come out to play, under-rated company - yes, awesome price $3.99 for a bomber
