Tasty alternative to a standard VT ipa from a top notch brewery. Nuanced, balanced flavor. Easy to drink, but well bodied. Great dinner beer!

This was poured into a nonic pint glass. The appearance was a bronzed to golden color with a slight transparency about it, enough to see a light carbonation rising at a moderate pace. A light foamy white head started and dissipated to leave a cap on the top of the beer. Concave lacing clings to the sides of the glass. The smell starts off with a sweet citrus leading into a sweet English malt. It starts to get slightly grassy with a nice little bit of pine. The taste leads into the sweetness rolling about the sweet citrus and light grassiness. Definitely sweet driven, as it rolls into the palate side of the house and carrying a slight sweet creamy part, its light and has a light carbonation about it as well. Overall, this was a fairly good sweet APA, bitterness is extremely low in this.

This may be the best currently available option from this brewery. Consistently delicious on tap, though the bottles are often lacking. Crisp, pleasingly bitter, with a clean finish that leaves you wanting more.

Consumed 2/22/16
A: Burnt orange to copper with some dark gold around the edges - crystal clear - pours with a small, white head, fades to just a few wisps, retains a small collar, leaves spots and streaks of lacing
S: Lightly hoppy with a big malt base - orange and grapefruit juice, floral citrus - herbal notes, lightly leafy - light fruits, like juicy fruit gum - earthy - malts are actually pretty big - pale malts, caramel malts, caramelized malts, caramel, sweet bread, sugar
T: Sweet, chewy malts and some fruitiness - orange and grapefruit juice, peel - flowery citrus - lightly herbal and grassy - some pine - medium amount of bitterness - decidedly earthy, with some light spice - pale malts, caramel malts - caramelized grains, straight-up caramel, toasted biscuits, lingering sweetness
M: Medium body, carbonation on the low side, smooth, slightly oily finish, some residual caramel
O: Brewed with real horse
This is a fairly standard, if not slightly old-school, APA. Not that there is anything wrong with that. This could be a bit cleaner, with the sweetness dialed back a touch, but it has some nice maltiness and would probably go well with food.
